The Valley Crest Memory Care community is clean, however our loved ones drain in the sink and shower have sewer gnats that are persistent and inconsistency addressed. We do like the staff members there very much!

Response from Valley Crest Memory Care
May 2, 2024Hi Robin, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a positive review
Overall I am pleased because my love one is not complaining. There are some issues that I see that I would change but overall I am pleased. The general staff has been good. We chose the facility because of the staff. The food and furniture/furniture repairs could use some improvement.

The residents steal stuff it's really frustrating Even if you have a name on it! So basicly your Loved one can have nothing of value! Other than that it's ok ! Clean pleasant staff and residents seem happy! Very pricey!

I would recommend to other families. We picked this community because of the proximity to a family member and good initial meetings. Director was flexible and likable.

Response from Valley Crest Memory Care
September 6, 2023Thank you for taking the time to leave this review! We appreciate the positive feedback.
Our experience has been overall very good as my Dads needs have changed a-lot over the months that he has been there. His dementia has progressed rapidly and he has had many health issues in the past 4 months. The Director, [name removed] has helped me advocate and take steps for my Dad that have been remarkable under her watch. She has learned my Dad well and she truly cares about her residents. We have placed him under hospice recently while remaining to stay at Valley Crest. My one concern is that knowledge from one shift to the next is not always transferred over which I believe is important for consistency in overall care. The facility and faculty have gone above and beyond on many occasions and I feel my Dad is in the right place.

Response from Valley Crest Memory Care
July 11, 2023One of the most heartbreaking issues to face is the decline in the health of a parent or grandparent. Thank you for your kind comments regarding the care that your dad has received at our community. We are always open to constructive criticism so will take your comments to heart.
Overall compared to the two other memory care homes I have had my Mom over the last 10 years, Valley Crest is a 3 star for all the above categories. It is disorganized and old but the staff are fabulous and my sister is happy so in the end it is a great place for her based on what she can afford long term. My sister's experience has been stressful for her because they kept moving her from room to room. I understand they are redoing all the rooms but she is brand new there and it made her settling in much harder. I just wish they would have left her in her original room for a longer period of time. The staff were very understanding of her distress and go out of their way to reassure her.

Response from Valley Crest Memory Care
July 11, 2023It is unfortunate that in our desire to upgrade the room interiors that we did not fully meet your expectations. Due to HIPPA rules (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), we are restricted from commenting regarding current residents and their care but we take the word “care” seriously and seek only to offer families the best possible support. We appreciate constructive suggestions and appreciate your kind words about our understanding staff.
Our family had an in person tour with Valley Crest Memory Care and it was very depressing. Our mom isn't that bad and we did not care for it. The patients were in the reception area in wheelchairs and doors are locked 24/7.
Response from Valley Crest Memory Care
April 17, 2023Once in a while we tour a family when maybe they are not quite ready to make a decision and discussing the levels of care can be distressing/depressing. There are different stages of the disease process and we are here to help all those who may need this level of care as we know that the disease is progressive and we desire to be a part of the team that will help the resident through the challenging times cognitive impairment can bring. When a resident with cognitive impairment is able to engage in the environment and feel a sense of purpose they are less anxious and they thrive better through the journey. We do not describe the area as locked but as an egress system for the safety of those who might wander.
[name removed] is an outstanding manager. [name removed] goes over and above everything that is asked of her. And [name removed], the receptionist, is always courteous and more than helpful when I show up. My loved one seems happy with the meals, and there are always activities going on. I'm thoroughly pleased.

Response from Valley Crest Memory Care
October 30, 2021Michelle G, thank you for leaving this detailed review about your experience with our community. We appreciate it and look forward to seeing you again.
Do not put your loved one here. The staff was fine except for the director. She didn't call me to tell me that my loved one had a fall. She called to ask me for some medical history, but did not say that the ambulance was there. I called Valley Crest to check on him, and they said they couldn't tell me anything, that the director was on the phone. I called every half hour and got the same response, that the director was still on the phone. So finally I came down there. When I got there, it took them 10 minutes to answer the door, and they told me she had already gone home and that nobody there was in charge. Only then did they tell me that my loved one had been taken to the hospital via ambulance. After he got out of the hospital, I took him home and would not bring him back to Valley Crest. The hospital determined he fainted because he had low pressure and was dehydrated. So I strongly question what kind of care was he receiving at Valley Crest. With Covid going on, it's hard to say what Valley Crest is like usually. Maybe it's a good place otherwise, but the experience I had personally was terrible.

A Place for Mom has scored Valley Crest Memory Care 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
