My mom is very happy and comfortable at The Mansions

The Mansions reminds me of CHEERS. My mother knows everyone, and they also know her and take care of her. My sister and I visit our mom a couple times a week. We see the friendly residents and helpful management/staff. [name removed] is an amazing chef (very important to my mother who is a former dietitian). She truly goes above and beyond. I am a picky eater and am amazed at the variety and quality of dinners and Happy Hour/Social foods and beverages served. The servers are really nice and cater to the residents and their guests. [name removed] wears so many hats and is always pleasant and helpful; she does so much more than resident transportation. When she's not driving residents to doctor appointments, errands, group outings, she is at the front desk, managing social activities. As I was leaving last Friday 9PM, [name removed] (new Executive Director) was walking the parking lot - searching for a resident's dog that got loose. I am incredibly grateful for everyone at The Mansions.... Read more

Not the place it used to be!

My loved one has been for over seven years. Unfortunately, I've noticed a rapid decline, and it’s really disheartening. The staff used to be joyful, and the Director was amazing, but things have changed a lot—none for the better. It’s best to talk with a Resident when the staff isn’t around to get an honest perspective. The food quality has dropped significantly, and housekeeping can be hit or miss. It’s so sad to see where things have gone, especially as my loved one used to be so happy there.I wish I could move my loved one out, but it’s all she can afford. With the impending rent increases, I know I’ll need to step in financially.

Do Your Homework- Not a Good Place for Mom

Looking for a place for my mom. Read the reviews posted, then stopped by unannounced and spoke to several residents sitting out front. The reviews are very accurate- food service is horrible, management does not respond to problems, housekeeping is minimal, and maintenance services not up to par. One resident expressed that the elevator frequently breaks down. Another said they often have water leaks that flood the apartments. Another resident shared that the current Executive Director (who only worked 4-5 months) has left. This is number 5 or 6 in the last 5 years. They are not aware of a replacement. Just as important, rent increases are steep and the residents do not see any value from paying more. It seems the Mansions Management Company that runs the complex does not have qualified or engaged staff.

Not A Place For Mom

CAUTION...It's not what you think it is. Management (corporate) is horrible. "Problems are not created overnight and cannot be fixed quickly" - HA....Problem is Corporate. Really do not care, they give good lip service (should run for President), but do not give a hoot and do not work to correct issues. Staff turnover is so high you may not see the same person more than once. No cleaning services- rooms are disgusting. Food service- cook takes your order cooks it and serves it then cleans up??? One person- really. BUT THEY SURE DO LIKE TO INCREASE THE RENT...."so they can pay people" HA. No management in building on weekends- just like Biden at the beach. WALK AWAY

Happy at The Mansion

It's very clean. The staff is so friendly. My loved one thinks the food is delicious, and they have a chef. They have plenty of activities. It's a good value for the money. My loved one is incredibily happy. We picked this community because, it was a closer location, they offer three meals per day, and it inlcuded a media package, which includes tv-internet-phone. The rooms is a nice size, and it's a recently updated facility.

sad to hear but love this facility for mom

I'm sad to read these kinds of reviews about the Mansions on this website because they are not true. I am the daughter of a resident at Alpharetta, and I can tell you, not all the residents and their families feel this way. Mom says the chef is wonderful, and the food is very good. The staff is always sweet and helpful and go out of their way to make sure that the residents are all treated well. They say it takes a few bad apples to ruin a whole basket and I can tell you, not all of the residents agree with you! This is their home, and they love it. I do not know what you are trying to accomplish, but it makes many of us sad to see you (just a handful) act this way.

Awful place!

Please do NOT put a family member here. I agree 100% with the other reviewers. They replaced the front staff with the rudest people they could find. You're lucky on a good day; they even greet you when you walk in. No warmth, no happiness. The place is so depressing. Just look at the resident's faces or better yet, ask them. The portions of food are so small and the cheapest things to make. Not healthy at all! “Award winning chef” is laughable, she probably quit too. The place has gone downhill and is very empty. I can't wait to get it my Dad out of there. Don't fall for their lies if you visit, please just stay far away.

Beverly, We are so very sorry to hear of your disappointment with our community. We always want you to feel a part of The Mansions' Family when you walk in our front doors and hate to hear that that has not been your experience. We would love for you to come by and meet with our new Executive Director, Andrew, so he can address any issues your dad is experiencing in our community. The staff is working so hard to improve this community and we have been hearing great things from residents and family about the changes they are seeing. We would love for you to get the chance to talk with him about these improvements. We have two weekly meetings that we encourage all residents and family to attend. One is an operational meeting to discuss changes, improvements, needs of the community etc. and we appreciate all the feedback we receive. The other meeting is our weekly food meeting. We are so proud of the improvements we have seen in our restaurant through our chef, Christina. Food is something that we are continually working to improve. Christina and her team are working tirelessly to make sure our residents are happy, fulfilled and enjoying each and every meal. We thank you for voicing your concerns and hope that you see positive changes the next time you are here. Sincerely, Mansions Senior Living

Downhill

I hate to leave this review, but I feel like I should warn others. This place has really gone downhill. Management and staff change weekly, which is concerning. The food is not nutritious, very small servings and not good. The housecleaning is awful! They will not dust, (not allow to touch anything) so your loved one must remove anything on counters, dressers, desk, etc. It NEVER smells clean when they leave. My loved one is miserable there and I’m currently looking for a new place. They are very money hungry, always increasing the rent, or charging you for this or that. I do agree with the other reviewer, just look at the residents faces. It’s not a happy place.

January 4, 2022

Barbara J, I'm so sorry to hear that you or your loved one has not noticed many of the recent improvements, a few of them including our dining program and our housekeeping. I have worked for a few different senior living providers and the dusting requirements are a standard practice due to liability of a resident's person items. As an Independent Living community, we hope this task can easily be managed by our residents and by having scheduled housekeeping. We have struggled with staffing as all businesses have due to the climate of the country. However, we are extremely proud of our staff members showing up and doing their best to provide excellent service. Since we purchased community in February of 2021 there have been some staff changes but there are many staff members that have been around since the community opened 5 years ago. We have annual increases as do all senior living providers, nothing more. Also, our community is all-inclusive with only additional charges being for storage units and guests' meals, as other senior living providers also charge for these additional services.

Do NOT put your loved one here!

Here are the facts and you decided! Over 5 managers in 3 years. No employee has been employed there (except [name removed]) for longer than a year. Staff is a revolving door. If a staff member helps a resident button a shirt, they are fired. It’s “independent living” and they should be able to do that themselves! Today, they fired the nicest employee/pastor. Their motto is “you just rent an apt here!” Go for a tour look at all the sad faces in the common areas. Ask how many open apartments they have. It’s over half the building! I can’t wait to get my loved one out of there. Please don’t do that to a family member.

John, we are so sorry to hear about your experience. As an independent living community, there are certain things that staff cannot do for residents as we do not provide medical or assisted living services. We do everything we can to accommodate residents’ needs within what is allowed in independent senior living. Many of our residents and families have been so pleased with our recent changes and are excited for the future of this vibrant community! We would love the opportunity to sit and talk with anyone who wants to hear and see all the things our staff, residents and families are excited for!

Happy at the Mansions of Alpharetta

I have lived at the Mansions of Alpharetta for a little over four years and have not regretted for a minute my choice to live here. The apartments are large and very comfortable. Yes, we have had some problems with the food, but the executive and kitchen staff are willing to listen to us and make improvements. We are like a family here and we genuinely care for one another. The activities are varied and there is always something for you to do if you wish! This is a great place to call “home” and I would not want to live anywhere else! Come visit and make the decision to be a part of our community! You won’t regret it!

Top of the list

I toured The Mansions at Alpharetta with my sister for our parents. I was really wowed of the beauty of this place. The staff was very friendly and seemed eagar to please. We had the privilege to speak to several residents and they all said they thoroughly enjoyed living there. We were invited to stay for lunch but we had to take a rain check. We did see the dining room during lunch and we even had some residents invited us to stay. I must say, the food looked and smelled wonderful. We are still in the early stage of finding a community due to our parents not ready to move. The sales team has been extremely helpful in the process. The Mansions is at the top of our list when the time comes and our parents are ready to make the move.

I had the pleasure to spend a long holiday weekend with my love one at The Mansions. I wanted the experience and I must say it was a great experience. From waking in to a very clean and friendly lobby until I left, I felt the employees really care about the residents. I even participated in a couple of activities and enjoyed the meals in the dining room. My family and i are very pleased with The Mansions.

We Love The Mansions!

My relative loves The Mansions. We visited several communities in the Alpharetta, John's Creek and Roswell area and we all deceided that The Mansions in Alpharetta was the right community. It's really a community that cares. You can tell how the employees interact with the residents that they really enjoy working with seniors. We have eating in the dining room in several occasions and we have always had a delightful meal. The service is top notch.

KEEP SHOPPING FOR BETTER PLACES

I have a family member at this facility. The rent is just under $4000.00/mo- that's $ 48,000.00 a year. The food is absolutely horrible. The food service workers (who are underpayed) wear clothes with holes in them. They are slow and rude. Management blames the budget. Remember- one person pays $ 48,000/yr (100 residents= $ 4,800,000 per year). Where is the money going? Don't blame budget issues for management greed. Stay away. This is not a place to leave a loved one. I am actively seeking out other facilities for my family member.

Listen- But DO NOTHING

Read responses to earlier reviews. Always apologize, but never take complaints or issues seriously. Never any improvement. They will YES you to death and promise to look into it- but never do or don't take any actions. Management and ownership of this facility should be ashamed of how they treat our elders. Respect must not be the "in thing". The Mansions has become fair to mediocre.

POOR FOOD SERVICE

I would like to give no stars Not an option. POOR FOOD SERVICE! On going Meal issues with the Food program. Menu not available: Chefs choice is the options....which means whatever is left over they need to prepare before it expires? Continuous problems with prepared food. Poor choice, below average options and no variety. Quality of food is the worst. Overcooked flash frozen vegetables you could eat thru a straw. Salads: if you like wilted below average lettuce. Health Department should inspect. No one is listening to the residents. Management turnover. The residents need some options offer dining dollars so they can order take out, reduce the rent, or hire a professional chef or dining service. Website states: "Three chef-prepared meals daily (two meals on Sundays – breakfast and buffet lunch) (View Sample Menu)" This is not true!

It all sounds good but the final product is not as promised

The first year the staff and owners promised a great experience. The facility is very clean and well maintained as it opened in 2016. The facility is appointed and decorated to present a very inviting atmosphere. No real exercise room or areas for small (10-15) person gatherings. The lobby and dining room are used for everything, Activities are very limited as the Activity Director is not engaged. Significant turnover in the staff including the director. Food quality, presentation and selection is well below what was promised. As everyone knows, the food experience is a major part of any senior community and the Mansions at Alpharetta falls way below expectations. With 12 other senior communities within 10 miles of this facility I would not recommend this facility.

We know that there are other senior communities in the area and we recognize our obligation to offer the best value, service and experience. Please know that we are committed to this goal. We are taking actionable steps to address the concerns in our dietary department. Our management team is now stable and I encourage you to speak directly to the Executive Director about activities that you’d like to see as part of the calendar so we can continue to create a community that is vibrant and full of life.

Welcoming, bright, clean wide halls. No theater, but they are close by. No pool. A bit of sticker shock. Full kitchen (not really needed), no walking path, very small, incomplete fitness area.

A Place for Mom has scored The Mansion at Alpharetta Senior Independent Living 6.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
