My Dad lived here for four years. He loved it here - beautiful apartment on the main floor overlooking the courtyard. He especially liked watching the geese and ducks - also the neighbors' dogs. The staff is so caring and helpful. The residents are also caring and helpful. Hospice of the Midwest was able to come in and work with my Dad. Great activities available including ice cream social and movie night. On nice days, a stroll or roll around the pond was fabulous!... Read more

My sister absolutely loves it here. We chose this facility because it was the most reasonable priced one we found in the White Bear area and she is very familiar with the are it is in. She is in a 2 bedroom apartment and it is more than enough for her needs. If anything is ever wrong they come to help her out quickly. They have a lot of activities provided for residents to participate in. I would recommend to others looking.

The Lodge at White Bear went downhill quickly once covid hit so my mom left the facility not long ago. The residents are paying for 3 meals a day and before the virus it started going down, but then once it hit they had no variety what so ever and the quality was not good. It did seem like they provided a fair amount of activities. The staff here did seem friendly and when I would reach out to the office for help they were great. I do think they need to improve their overall performance and deliver what they promise.

I highly recommend this community to others for your loved one. The staff is friendly. The community is an open concept. The Lodge feels homey with warmness and very inviting. They will have the lights on for the residents to get around better. The Lodge has their fireplace running. It is lovely. The management is amazing and go above and beyond. The staff runs like a well oiled machine. The value to know your loved ones are treated with dignity, it is worth the value. You can never be lonely at The Lodge of White Bear. You can have privacy and still choose to participate in the activities the community offers. The Lodge makes sure the residents are safe during their stay. There is another company on site to be able to provide additional care for the residents if needed. This is a separate fee.

*I have really enjoyed the interactions w/ both residents and staff. Staff has been great. They appropriately extend themselves to be helpful to residents. *After the pandemic, staff has been very conscientious to keep residents safe. Management has done a super job in helping the dull-time & part-time staff acclimate to the new situation. *In my 4 years at the Lodge at White Bear, I have been pleased every day that I am here. Staff is very attentive. *Care services by Recover Care (RC), the major outside agency here, have been responsive to resident needs. My only concern with RC, as expressed to my by other residents, has been the occasional non-availability during working hours. The hair dresser is great! The availability of therapy services has been a real benefit to some residents. *I recommend the Lodge to people I know.

The staff are really great there and I know my grandfather is happy and being well taken care of. He has made some great relationships with other residents. He is a really social guy and he gets the opportunity to be social there. I think it is giving him the opportunity to enjoy so much of the time he has left in his life. When we first walked into the community, my grandfather immediately connected with the guy who gave us the tour. They are both retired from the air force. It's a really wonderful place and the value is wonderful in comparison to others. It's also a five star dining experience for all three meals each day.

Response from The Lodge at White Bear, A Sky Active Living Community
January 22, 2021Hi Amber, thank you for taking the time to share this wonderful feedback. We are delighted that your grandfather decided to call our community home!
The Lodge is lovely and has many services many we might never use. We have decided we would miss a kitchen and it is very costly; however, we have not made any final decisions yet.

Vet friendly. Warm and embracing. Not too sterile and doesn't feel like a nursing home! Upon first glance, seems to really support/empower residents to live as independently and as comfortably as possible. staff are very kind and I loved that the residents varied in ages, again keeping it less nursing home like. I love that they are connected with the VA and that they post pictures of the vets who are living there!

I really like this community but I am now thinking it's a little more expensive than what I can afford. I am very happy here I love my apartment it has quite enough space for me. I do quite a few of the activities that they offer. The food is here is very good. The staff is very friendly and nice always happy to help. I would recommend this community if you could afford it.

I toured The Lodge and it really appealed to me. It has all the amenities I could possibly want. I still have a few more places that I would like to look at before I make any decisions.

We toured a few different communities. This one was nice. The community was very clean and well maintained. The staff seemed friendly and was helpful on the tour. It is located in a central location very near to stores.

I think my mom needs more support like more assisted living. The staff has been great with being there for my mom. So far all has been fine. The community is good but it has not be a good fit for what she needs.

My mother seems to be adjusting well at The Lodge. I think most of the staff leaves around 7-7:30 which I find odd. Other than that things are good and she's taking advantage of the activities they offer.

My mother felt welcomed here. The location was nice, retail nearby but also park/pond in the back (nice!). The building is undergoing renovations, so it was not as nice as I'm sure it will be (bare walls, limited furniture, etc.) Representative was very welcoming and sincere. No underground parking was available, only detached garages (limited).

We did like our tour. The staff was super nice and everyone seemed happy. We saw that it was a bit older building with white walls, that looked like a hospital or nursing home. It is non-smoking and looked like not a fun place. To us it seemed not inviting and outdated, it had the look of a nursing home, which is not what we wanted.
