Review for The Legacy at Santa Fe

My loved one loves the activities provided for the residents. There is a daily schedule that's she's memorized to make sure she doesn't miss bingo and black jack. I'm happy that the staff is very attentive to her needs.... Read more

About the facility The Legacy at Santa Fe

The Legacy at Santa Fe provides conscientious care in the inspiring New Mexican landscape. The adobe-style facility sits on the city's edge in the middle of the high desert prairie. Residents can see mountains in the distance and breathe the famously fresh air all day. Santa Fe brings in a lot of tourists for a reason. The nearly magical landscape mingles energetically with the unique Southwestern culture. You can walk your cowboy boots through the ochre sandstone with the deep blue sky overhead until you reach the Georgie O’Keefe museum. Here, you can appreciate the desert in a new way through the artist’s eyes, and after, enjoy green chile enchiladas at one of the many renowned New Mexican restaurants in the area.

The Legacy at Santa Fe is a large group care home. It offers a range of care options, including assisted living, memory care, and respite care. The choices don’t stop there: You can also choose from a few different floor plans, ranging from studios to one-bedroom apartments. The facility is fully equipped with community areas and amenities to keep residents engaged and active. The wide and covered outdoor patio is a popular place to chat and play games, but...

My experience with Legacy

This is a nice facility and the cheapest in my area. I feel like they may be understaffed. The staff that are there the women seem to be fine. My loved one did have a situation where a male staff member was too ruff but other than that things have been smooth.

Take your loved one to legacy

Take your loved one here. They are wonderful. They look out for the residents and our loved one ran away. They found her and brought her back and took care of her. They are all great there and I can not say enough good things about legacy.

Great Experience Nice People

I toured this community on Sept 19th. I was looking for a place for my mom. We had a great tour with Ruben the CRD who explained the Assisted Living and Memory Care options. He sat with us to find out what my mom likes and really listened to what was important to us. I liked the fact that they have not had any COVID cases since Sept 2020. The Nurse Lily was very nice and is setting up an assessment to see what level of care my mother is. The staff I did see was friendly and they were giving meds and changing folks. I did see they had activities going n the 2nd floor. The price was affordable and in my budget.

Our tour experience

Our family had an in person tour and it kind of seemed like the saying - one flew over the coo-coos nest, it seemed unorganized and everyone just wondering around. It is a newer and nice facility and to there credit we thought they were very understaffed. Even the manager who gave us the tour said a few workers called in that day and that it was just a free for all day.

Stay Away!

Two close friends of mine moved in 17 months ago. Legacy did some heavy advertising and many promises were made. The line We believe in challenging people! Caught my friends attention. They have fallen short on all promises. There are very few activities. Many of the residents are confused and wander around the building at will. One lady was constantly asking where her apt was. The building is not even half full. The staff turnover is at least 80% and they just fired the activities director who wasn,t there a year. My friend needs assistance with transferring and bathing. She has complained to me that a few staff members are rough when handling her. Because they are ALWAYS short staffed, she was not always getting her 2 showers a week. Today when she rang for assistance, the aide was very rude and acted as if she was being put out. Are there any pluses? The food is good and the chef tries to accommodate. The building is lovely . There are some nice staff...just not enough of them. Cons: Hiring and keeping nurses is a big issue. There is NO nurse on duty at night. Poor staffing. Recently a confused resident started pounding on residents doors in the middle of the night in an agitated state! In this time of Covid they are going their best to keep residents safe but with no planned activities some residents are having a tough time. Don,t move your loved one here.

A Place for Mom has scored The Legacy at Santa Fe 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
