I have been at Green Point for a month. So far it has been a very good experience. The food is good and the people are very helpful and friendly. There's many activities available. I have not joined in yet, I'm still getting settled, but will soon. I still drive so I have not taken advantage of the transport service, but others speak highly of them.

Mom absolutely loves it there and we do too! The staff is always pleasant and helpful. You feel very welcomed when you visit. They just love Mom, they have her on committees for welcoming new comers and taking complaints from other residents. She attends meetings with the staff and gives them any complaints so they can make adjustments. She is even on a food committee Letting facility now likes and dislikes. They aim to please.

Very friendly. Over the past year had a floor from the sprinkler that caused quite a mess overall very pleased. The front desk has 1 employee that is outstanding and extremely helpful. I am still questioning some of this. Hearing some stories from my dad about some uncomfortable situations. No complaints about the meals and dining except when shut down due to outbreak of Covid or norovirus. It sounds like activities are well planned but my dad does not participate in most of them. Hard stop compare but there was a price increase last year and there is another one coming. I know everything is going up so not overly concerned

Some of the staff were great but they were often understaffed, so a three. The residents were friendly once you reached out and got to know them but it's a big place and if you're a little shy, you'll feel lonely. Sometimes the meals were good, other times they took forever or forgot people or weren't very good. The activity people kept changing so things were not always as planned. Extra care needs monitoring, not enough repeating staff to understand resident preferences.

The hands-on working staff was excellent. However, the administration is horrible. When my mom was getting released from rehab from a fall, she could no longer walk such that she required full mobility assistance- which Greenpoint is not licensed to provide. When I told them I was moving mom to [removed] (which is licensed for mobility assist) the Director got aggressive and upset. Since then Greenpoint has refused to provide any followup data to our Long Term Care insurance company such that we cannot process the claim. The vengeful Diretor is taking money out of our pocket. Very disappointed.

Response from The Hearth at Greenpoint
July 26, 2023Hi James - First, I'm sorry to hear you had a negative experience at The Hearth at Greenpoint. We never want to keep a resident beyond our retention standards, for their own safety. I've shared your feedback with our Regional Vice President of Operations for further review.
What sticks out most about The Hearth at Greenpoint is the consistent staff and care. They offer different floor plans and levels of care. We looked at almost every facility in the area. The Hearth at Greenpoint was the only one with a two bedroom apt and full kitchen, plus located near family. Also offered enhanced assisted living at a reasonable cost.

Response from The Hearth at Greenpoint
July 26, 2023Thank you so much for leaving a review, Kathleen! We appreciate you taking the time to share some kind words about The Hearth at Greenpoint. Thanks again!
I would think twice about moving your loveone to this place. The place is old and bathrooms are not handicap or up update to elderly residents. Further more make sure you read contract before you sign.

Response from The Hearth at Greenpoint
February 2, 2023Hi Joseph! We're so glad to hear your loved one is having a positive experience at The Hearth! Thank you for taking time to leave a review, and thank you for the kind words!
This is a great place for my loved one to go to. They are very friendly and accommodating, and the staff keep a great eye on my loved one without my loved one knowing. The staff communication is pretty good with the family. There is an aide shortage here like other communities in the area. There are three meals a day served a day and there are choices for them to choose from. It feels like going to a restaurant to eat meals.

Response from The Hearth at Greenpoint
November 3, 2022Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review! The Hearth at Greenpoint team works very hard and appreciates your kind words. Sincerely - Katie, VP of Marketing & Communications
They had an exercise group, and the price is the same as other places but they offered less care, that was needed for my loved one.
Very clean and friendly facility. Only place in the area with two bedroom suites. The staff really cares about each resident.

Residents' apartments are larger than in other assisted living places in the area. They are able to prepare themselves meals in their apartments when they prefer. The staff is helpful and kind. While there are many activities offered, few appeal to my father, who is younger than most other residents and able to be more active.

Response from The Hearth at Greenpoint
August 3, 2022Hi Leslie! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. The Greenpoint team is working to reinvigorate their activity offerings, and your feedback is very helpful. - Katie, VP of Marketing & Communications
I didn't see any residents or staff come in to welcome my loved one into the community after the first day. I feel this might have contributed to my loved one not enjoying the community. I feel that it might be beneficial for the community to have a welcome committee for the first week to make the adjustment easier on the new residents. The staff and residents were very friendly when meeting them. The food was really good.

We really weren't there long enough to give you great feedback. The food during the 3 days my loved one was there was fabulous!!!!! Unfortunately my loved one was needing a good deal of help as a result of their stroke. We were hoping for a little more assistance in the first few weeks and that was not the case in the 3 days. Not that care services weren't adequate under normal circumstances but we were promised more during initial days. The only negative was the procedure for getting help - you had to call the desk and ask. In our case my loved one wasn't communicating well and couldn't dial the phone so they had to wait for someone to just happen in.

The Hearth is certainly a friendly community, our loved one has been back and forth from rehab so he hasn't had the chance to really experience everything like the activities, but from what we have seen they look great. The entire organization and the staff are just amazing, we would recommend this community to others.

Response from The Hearth at Greenpoint
March 4, 2022Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a positive review, and thank you for choosing The Hearth! We appreciate you!
We've been very happy with our choice. I feel they've kept us well informed with any restrictions going on with the pandemic. And that's been a big relief. Making the move was a much easier adjustment than we were expecting, for Dad as well as for our family. All the limited care provided in independent living has been good - cleaning, meals etc. My dad tells me everyone on staff is very friendly and kind. He's happy there. He seems to enjoy the food. He likes going on walks, attending music activities, and watching football games with other residents. He's meeting people his age and making friends. They have exercise classes, and transportation to church and appointments and things. We're very happy with them and how Dad has adjusted. He's very comfortable there, and it has gone as well as we could have ever hoped. I have no worries about him. I fell like we're getting a good value, and it's nice to know that additional assisted living services are there if he ever needs them.

Response from The Hearth at Greenpoint
January 18, 2022Hi, Susan! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review! We're thrilled to hear that your father is happy at The Hearth at Greenpoint. The team works very hard to ensure each resident receives the care, social fulfillment, and emotional engagement they need, and they're appreciative of your kind words. Thanks again!
I would recommend the community if your loved one was more independent. The community isn't able to provide a lot of options for low sodium diets or other dietary restrictions. There are several things that have fallen through the cracks.
