The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Pawling

Another night after 9:30pm spent on the phone for several HOURS trying to get ahold of someone to take care of basic needs for my mom at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Pawling. It is now after midnight …. After listening to the phone ring thousands of times, some people answering, transferring the phone and being hung up on multiple times before I can say a word… I want anyone who is interested to read this and decide if this is the place you want your loved one to reside. My mother has been sitting on a soiled diaper for 12 hours. The last 7 hours she has been sitting on excrement. My mom has had her call bell on for hours! She already has a break in her skin yet the aide comes in and turns the call bell off and says she will be right back yet doesn’t change her. This is a small written piece from the long saga I endured tonight. It took me 2 1/2 hours of constantly being on the phone to finally get my mother changed. This is all I could write on here.

With long term IV medication and the need for P/T and O/T the Grand at Pawling was available. Having received negative feed back, My wife and I made the right decision. Everyone from administration to staff welcomed us with an open bed [date removed]. And because of the Covid outbreak they made [name removed] as comfortable as possible but also she became a patient of this nasty virus. With the awesome help of the administration and nursing staff they made this lonely 4 month stay tolerable. [names removed] are the best at all communication and the operator knew my 1st name. They do have heroes working there. Besides some cosmetics in and out and sometimes the meals needed some love The Grand was Grand.

We have recommended The Grand to our friends! They are taking good care of my son. They have been good to us with answering my questions.

They are welcoming, compassionate and knowledgeable. The room is very nice.

I have spoken with my friend throughout her stay. Her occupational and physical program is going well for her. She said she is feeling good from it. From what she has mentioned the nursing assistants can be inattentive especially on the weekends.

The staff is very compassionate. My conversation with the therapists was very fulfilling. I was very pleased that the doctor made time to talk to me. He was very, very good.

They did very well. The nurses, everyone, are just stupendous.

The stay has been okay so far. My loved one is just not liking the meals.

The nursing care has been very good. Everybody from the aides to the nurses have just been so cooperative. They actually take the time to listen, which I really have appreciated. This may be me being anxious to get him home but I just wish it could go a little faster. Maybe there are certain regulations the facility has to follow. The meals have been good and I do get answers when I ask questions.

Our experience has gone well here and it is very clean.

We have meetings every three months to check in on how my loved one is doing. Whenever she falls or her blood pressure changes they call me right on the spot. They're pretty good with the cleanliness but the only thing is if I go in early, there is an odor because they're doing morning clean up. So I just don't go in early.

There are many staff members in particular who have been helpful. The therapy services are very good. The nurses have really been very patient with me. I ask a lot of questions and they are always good about giving me the time and help. There is not enough staff at the front desk on the weekends and evenings. You have to wait a long time to be let in and out because of this. The visitors' bathroom needs attention but they are keeping everything else clean. We had a care plan meeting and that was very helpful. I had to request the meeting but I thought this was something they plan and come to me for.

The Rehab team is doing great. Mostly everyone is accommodating. It's good but it's not perfect. Because we're in the room all the time, sometimes the nurses seem irritated with us. My loved one does have to ask multiple times if he needs something. It's pretty clean, but the bathrooms could use more care with its cleaning. The caseworker is very busy and doesn't have a lot of time, but she's doing the best she can.

I feel like the building is kept very well. The whole place is clean! I was surprised by how clean it was. The staff, in general, seems very attentive. I happen to really like the Grand, I think it's a much better place than most. There is one lady who takes the time to listen and doesn't rush. The meals should be hotter, last time my wife was there you couldn't get a hot meal. It might just be my wife's case, she has multiple diagnoses, but they just aren't on time with her medications.

I would recommend The Grand at Pawling. I have worked with them on a professional level and I have been impressed with the level of care. My mom loves the physical therapist there and she always raves about them. Most of the staff seems very friendly and open and they try to answer questions. I think the staff seems very attentive to her, some of them. With the nursing care, I just didn't feel as if there was a focus on her individual care plan. The place is clean but it just seems very old and worn. It looks like there are some things that could be repaired for not very much money, like the nursing station. They've been very thoughtful about trying to meet her needs with the menu choices. The one thing I will say, is the menu is very confusing. It's a week out and it just feels like there is a way to make that easier for an elderly user. Communication is where my challenges have been. Everybody doesn't seem to be on the same page about her care but, the nurses have always given me a progress report, and answer my questions when I call.

My loved one came out there better than how he went in. I think the place is really nice. Everyone was pleasant and the rooms were clean. He complained a little bit about the food, but he complains about my cooking. The communication was good and they kept on trying to get in touch with me.

As far as I know, I'd say it's going very well! I'd say they're doing pretty well with the therapy services. The staff is all good and my loved one said he likes the meals.

They take good care of my mother and are very attentive to her. Everyone is very, very nice and she said that herself. I've been in rehab with her, and they have been terrific. The nurse on my mother’s floor has been terrific with her and with getting her to eat when she doesn't want to eat. Several of the aides have also been great. The other thing I noticed is that they keep the place very clean. We just had a meeting last week and we went through each department. They were very upfront, informative and told us everything we needed to know. They had a nice barbecue the other day, the residents and my mother had a great time. The only thing that's not good, for someone reason there is only one elevator to use. For such a busy place, I am surprised.

My loved one was taken care of very well and we are very pleased. The therapy is very good, the staff was attentive and good. We were very concerned about going there not knowing the reputation but I could not have asked for better care. The building inside was very clean but the outside needed some attention, especially the garbage area. He ate like a king and he was very happy with the food. They were right on it with the communication!

Anybody that I have spoken to was very, very friendly and they call me on everything. I am having some trouble with finding out where the money from his monthly stipend is going to.
