Response from The Commons at Union Ranch
October 24, 2023Thank you so much for your kind words. We strive to make our community a safe and comfortable home for all our residents, and the best fit possible. Your thoughts are very much appreciated!
The Commons was my first choice before I went on any of the tours. The commons was stuffy and sterile - as if it were mass produced. We signed up for lunch that day but were not offered it when we arrived, and we got a tour guide who was less knowledgeable than I would expect after waiting a half hour. Rooms were bigger than other places though.
Response from The Commons at Union Ranch
June 13, 2023We're sorry to hear that our community did not meet your expectations and that lunch was not provided. If you'd allow us the opportunity to make it right, we'd love to invite you back for a meal and better showcase the warm and inviting lifestyle our residents enjoy here.
Overall the experience went well, however it's not cheap and when your parent has dementia like mine, it's ugly. My mom fell on [date removed] can't walk, is in diapers and so all these things we take for granted become expensive. They evaluate at the beginning and use a scale of their own for dementia, such as help with showering, getting dressed, using restroom, eating, etc... and if your parent needs a lot of help, be prepared to pay. Dementia diagnosis is separate from housing, 2 different charges.

Response from The Commons at Union Ranch
June 13, 2023Caring for a loved one can be overwhelming, especially when they develop dementia. While we're pleased to hear your overall experience has been positive, we're sorry to hear it's been challenging from a cost perspective. It's typical in senior living for there to be two costs, given that not all residents require care services or if they do those services may change or grow over time. We'd be happy to discuss your loved one's costs with you privately and may have some resources that may be of help. We would encourage you to speak with our Executive Director at the community. Thank you.
My tour experience was very nice, but they offered a lot of activities that my husband couldn't do so I didn't choose it. Their staff had mostly been there a long time too.
I would recommend the community to others to view to see if it would be a good fit for their loved ones. I would stay here myself. The staff are great to work with. The staff communication with the family is really great. They are always keeping us updated on any changes health wise or in case my loved one falls. They truly treat the family and residents as they would want to be treated.

It was great! I liked it a lot. They took good care of my loved one. I got to go visit my 95-year-old mother without having to worry about him. They gave me a feeling of confidence that they could take care of him, and they did. And he loved the food.
We did a tour with this community and it was very nice. The tour was good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions and gave us lots of information to consider. The community was very nice and they were very accommodating to us. They also followed up with and made sure all our questions were answered.
It’s a higher end facility and price reflects it. The common areas were very nice. The staff was very nice. The apartments were nice but not great.

The staff is very caring, they have worked hard to help my husband. They have been very accommodating to me because of my husband's behavior with dementia. The food is standard cafeteria food, and have a good variety. I would recommend this community to others

The rooms and overall layout of the community are alright. The food is okay, there is not much of a variety to choose from. We would not recommend this community, one being it is to expensive, and second our loved one fell, fractured her hip and they did not notice for a few days.

In general we have a positive opinion of The Commons At Union Ranch. My mom is nearly deaf and nearly blind so she is very difficult to communicate with. Staff needs to announce their arrival and be sure to get acknowledgement that she comprehends when they are trying to communicate.

My mother in law has been a resident of The Commons At Union Ranch since September of 2010. There have been many changes since she moved in most notably large staff turnovers. I am aware that this is an industry wide situation as my stepmother is also in an assisted living community. There have been many times where a situation arises that needs a response and I would say that prior to Maureen coming on board we might have struggled to get a resolution to the situation. I know things aren't perfect and that is understandable but Maureen and her current staff are very responsive in addressing any situation we have.

This community is very good. It especially deserves accolades on two major point. #1 the overall concern and care for the physical and emotional health of the residents. Staff at all levels are individually and personally interactive with residents. #2 keeping the physical facility a healthy and pleasant and cheerful environment for all those who can call this home.

My sister and I moved our 94-year-old mother to the beautiful assisted- living community The Commons in Manteca on [date removed]. The C19 pandemic was raging and was certainly not the most ideal time. With that said, The Commons has met this challenge with grace and kindness. In summary here are few of our thoughts: · The Community is a lovely property. The landscaping is beautiful, and the outside seating is safe and inviting. · The inside environment is clean, attractive, with up-to-date décor. · The staff is attentive to the residents and always use their first names and engage in positive greetings. · The food is very good the and dining area is inviting. · The directors (e.g. medical and facility) have made themselves available to meet with family. We are very pleased and grateful to have chosen The Commons for our mother’s care. This transition has not been easy for her, but the Commons Care Team has made the transition easier through loving care and courteous staff.

This is a very attractive residence, cheerful and clean. I've been impressed with the care and treatment my father receives from everyone. When I've called or visited him everyone is friendly, caring and helpful. I speak to someone anytime I can 24/7. Now my father requires more care and will transfer to memory care, a cost increase. Due to budget he'd have moved somewhere less expensive, but Maureen the exec dir. got approval for my father to transfer to memory care at his current rate. She and his care team met with me to discuss the best care solution for him. My father's care is always their main priority.
