Emergency surgery, six weeks in the hospital affected my once very active lifestyle. Churchman Village removes some of the challenges I face, allowing me to focus on physical and emotional needs . I am learning to mitigate the cons while enjoying the pros. Staff—I rate 4.5 stars. Food—I rate 2 stars, so I cook for myself. My one-bedroom apartment—I rate 4.5 stars. Neighbors—I rate 4.5 stars. Activities—I rate 4.5, my interests are different and I am free to persue them. External environment—I rate 2.5 stars, lacks inviting places to walk and enjoy nature, not even a small water feature such as a pond, garden and gardening is not even an after thought. Pet friendly—I rate 0 stars, the saddest part of all. Peaceful and Quiet—I rate 4.75 stars. Amenities such as AC and laundry—I rate 5 stars. Maintenance—I rate 4 stars. Finally, I miss [name removed] and I appreciate the help I received from A Place for Mom.

Hasn't been a great experience there and now I'm hearing they are for sale. Staff isn't very helpful or friendly when I've been, also been there at a time when someone needed assistance and no one was in the facility at all and the rehab side wouldn't help. I helped the lady and called 911 for her. I would not recommend them at this point.

Ok, this is what we thought of it back in 2019-2020: Prior to the lockdown in 2020, my aunt & our family thought it was a pretty good place for Independent Living, that included all her meals. My aunt enjoyed the various activities they had each day. The only negative comment my aunt gave was about the quality of the meals. She said that they used too much salt in the dishes. Overall at that time (year 2019), we probably would have given the place a rating of 3.5 on a 5 point scale. However, during the year of the lockdown (masked times) in 2020, we experienced many difficulties with the place, especially in the ability to get access the facility to see my aunt, in both the Independent Care section as well as the Nursing Care sections of Churchman's. My aunt got an illness in early 2020 & I guess they labeled her as a "Covid patient" as most of the healthcare places were doing at the time. I can't quite remember what caused the illness now, but she became quite ill and the staff found her on her apartment floor. She was moved to the Nursing Care area, attached to the Independent Care building. The Nursing Care area would NOT allow us to go into see my aunt for the many weeks that she stayed there as a patient. I think she was stuck in there for about a month! During that time she became depressed & lost interest in eating. We were only able to see her through her bedroom window of her room, as we stood outside on the grass, and conversed via cell phone with her. She had a very difficult time hearing us on the phone because she was very deaf (she had been hearing-impaired her whole life). We had asked the Independent Living area if my aunt could go home to one of her sister's houses to further recover when she got out of the Nursing Care section of the facility & they told us "no, if she were to go anywhere to stay overnight, she would not be allowed back into the facility to return to the room" that she was paying for!!

My loved one just picked another community. I liked this community actually better than the community that my loved one went with but in the end of things I had to go with my loved ones wishes.
Our family had an in person tour and the place is nice, the person we spoke with and who gave the tour explained everything greatly and was very nice. However we were not impressed with the food service, they would bring the food from the nursing home which we thought was kind of gross.
The Atrium was fantastic. Our loved one loved it. My loved said I couldn't have found a better place. The attention, service, and food were great. The independent living area was just excellent. The staff were incredible. The staff had great tenderness with the residents. The community would call me with any changes of my loved one.

We chose this community because of the price, and the quality of the facility, as well as the overall feel. My mother in law is in a one bedroom apartment and they are very adequate. The food we wish was a little bit better, it is institutional like and there is not a lot of variety on the menu. My favorite part about the community is the fact she has the ability to socialize with other people her age, so shes made some friends. The staff has also done a very good job with all the extra pressures. We have been pleased with The Atrium at Churchman Village.

My mother, in her 90s, moved into Atrium almost a month ago. Atrium is perfect for my mother. Everyone, from [name removed] who is the Director to [name removed], the Activities Director has been 100% helpful. Everyone working at Atrium has been extremely helpful and most important so very friendly. The other residents are also kind and friendly to us. That was what appealed to my mother and myself when we first visited Atrium. Mom is enjoying the food, activities (band concert one evening for example) and the hair salon. With everyday since Mom moved into Atrium, I have seen a postive change in her--it has been such a joy for us all that she is happy with her life! From [name removed] who makes her bed each morning to [name removed] who is with maintenance, everyone makes Mom feel that she matters to them and that they care about her.

Mom is finally enjoying life. My mom had lived alone for many years and she was alone last March she became critically ill. After a long stay in the hospital and rehab, we started looking for a place where she could come out of her shell, meet people and enjoy life again. A Place for Mom recommended Churchman's Village Atrium and after meeting [name removed], touring the apartments and meeting residents, I was excited for mom to move in! She has really thrived there, I no longer have to worry about her eating right because the meals and menus are great, I don't have to worry about her falling with no one there to help her. She's made friends, goes on outings. Best of all, my handicapped brother stays on the weekend sometimes and the staff and residents are so nice to him. I live in NC and she didn't want to move out of state because of my brother so this has been such a load off my mind knowing she's well taken care of. They have great activities including family game night! Where we all got together to compete! Hilarious! I visit often and the staff and residents make me feel right at home too!

The food is not very good at the Atrium. The menu selection is poor, they need more variety instead of serving the same meals. The activities have gotten better. The apartments are nice and roomy. There really isn't a lot of care since it is independent living. They do have an aide on duty all hours except 11pm to 7am. They used to have all 3 shifts covered but did away with that. I feel it was much nicer before they made the changes.

My father loves it here in this community. I really do feel it is the right fit for him, and his needs. I'am comfortable with his move here, I know he is in good hands. They have a lovely staff, and they have been polite, and helpful when needed. The community looks great when I come to visit. Everything has worked out very well for us with my fathers move to this community. I would highly recommend it, it is a wonderful facility.

Really quick tour! People were very nice. Told it was a 5 star. Very nice place if you are an active residernt. Do not feel that it is the place for mom to go now in her condition. Rooms shared, very small. Things just felt closed in and crowded, plus,One TV , 2 remotes, no phone in room, can have one put in.

A Place for Mom has scored The Atrium at Churchman Village 7.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
