Our family's overall experience with The Addison was fair to good.

The reason we give them a 3 for quality of care is 2 fold. 1 - we were never told by anyone we spoke to before moving her in, that because it was an Assisted Living facility, they could not force her to do or to stop doing anything she wanted to do. Because of this, she fell and ended up in the hospital 4 different times within a 2 month span. Two of those injuries resulted in head trauma which the Drs told us had further complicated her dementia progression. Had we known their policy ahead of time, we never would have placed her there! 2 - several times that we visited, we found Mom wandering the halls by herself, or, just sitting by herself in somewhat of a stupor, while the CNAs on the evening shift were all standing around the nurses station on their phones, or, gossiping about their men. When we approached the administrator about this, she stated that they would look into this, but, we never noticed any difference after that. We really liked their head CNA on day shift. She was also the activities director at the time due to COVID staff shortages. She was wonderful with Mom, and tried her best to keep Mom's spirits up. She would even stop in on her day off to just say hi to Mom and see how she was doing. She was a blessing to Mom and to us! Our family's overall experience with The Addison was fair to good. We were very disappointed with the fact that the dementia patients were not watched as closely as we believed they should have been. As a result, our Mom was injured badly, and had to be moved to a nursing home. We would not recommend The Addison for a dementia patient.

Cheerful, pleasant family oriented home away from home!

Addison is under new management and has remodeled and it has transformed into a top notch facility. I only wish my dad had lasted for the metamorphosis. Welcoming, informative, meal variety, cheerful environment. Plus, the town of Lincolnton has lots of off campus places to frequent with elderly family members if they can travel a few minutes off campus. New chef and multiple assistance in the kitchen I think they know how special they are I tell them when I go and sing there! I think many of the improvements have been made such as new administration in the finance department, new receptionist at the front desk very friendly and experienced, new head nursing staff.

Can do better

My dad has been there for about 5 months, he hardly ever gets a shower because no one has the experience to approach him. The lady in charge [name removed] could care less about the residents or families and seems like the staff is always unhappy. She never responds no matter if you email her, call her, leave messages on her phone or with the front desk. They have some good workers there but it seems like all the good staff keeps being run off. Someone who helped me most and my dad just left and I’ve called considering moving him somewhere else because she seemed to be the only one with compassion. Until they figure out what the issue is I would not recommend moving your family there.

Do not recommend

They just remodeled and they just got a new cook and he says the food is great. No activities since he has been there..the turnover of staff is ridiculous. New person over it and she is rude, has no care or concern for the residents or staff or the family members. The list could go on. Most of the staff love My stepdad but they would rather put them in bed or in front of the TV so they don't have to keep up with them. Usually they have 2 staff members to 24 residents in memory care..if they are lucky 3. He went 21 days without a shower and has been to the ER multiple times for dehydration. If we could afford to move him and know the care would be better we would.

Beautiful facility and friendly staff

It's a newly remodeled facility. It's very beautiful with a nice patio off of the dining room. It has room to sit with friends and enjoy the surroundings. My sister claims that the food is often overcooked. She says she doesn't like the food.

A Great Experience

Overall experience has been great. They are currently under major construction and renovation. They are adding on a second memory care wing for more active dementia patients. I would recommend The Addison of Lincolnton for anyone that needs memory care or assisted living.

Southern Charm for the aged.

The meals are wonderful except dining room woman - our loved one was afraid of her gruffness. With the activities, given the amount of residents in the community, I suppose what The Addison offered was adequate. The Addison of Lincolnton was very quiet and peaceful community. There was availability for my dad at the time when he needed it most. The Addison of Lincolnton was not our first choice due to the lack of social activities that my dad was used to at his former community. He was a very social individual and was involved in many activities.

The Addison was our Top Choice

The communication skills are exceptional, and they go above and beyond. We picked this community becasue they were very professional during the tour, and the rooms didn't feel like a hospital type of atmosphere. They try really hard to make the residents feel comfortable.

Exceptional Staff

They are getting great care. My loved one loves the food. It is more expensive but is better than other places. I picked this community, because the staff made me feel extra comfortable, they were able to work with me , and they go above and beyond with communication. I have no complaints, and would recommend to other families.

Would Not Recommend

The Addison of Lincolnton was horrible. Every time I turned around, my family member was going to the hospital, even for a little scratch. They didn't try to handle anything in-house. I know there are times when you do need that medical attention, but they often sent her when it was unnecessary. And that cost adds up. They've had a lot of turnover with directors. There's not a lot of communication between administration and care staff. So there was inconsistency in implementation of policies, especially regarding Covid. The facility itself is nice and clean, and there are no smells. They stay on top of the laundry. It was just ridiculous how much they sent our loved one to the hospital for minor things.

The Cadillac of Assisted Living

The Addison is a very friendly, helpful community. I would recommend it for anyone. It's certainly better than being in a nursing home. You're not just a number here. I would even recommend it for myself if I needed to go into a facility. The facility's appearance is friendly and inviting. There's an exercise bike you can use, a piano to play, a refrigerator and microwave in one of the common areas. For activities, they have bingo, they bring in ice cream, and the other day they had music from the 50s and an antique car show out in the parking lot. It's never boring living here! They're also open to suggestions about activities if there's anything you'd like to see them do. There's a nice side porch off my mom's wing that overlooks trees and greenery. The front porch is a large wraparound where quite a few of the residents like to gather when the weather is agreeable. Everything is just very well maintained. I'm very pleased we got her in here and with the care she's receiving.

Daughter of Current Resident

The director who left in February 2022 was excellent and loved every resident like her own family. The new director is only about the money and is not personal at all, she is not professional. The nurse is not a good facility nurse. They both do not follow up and are more about the money they get instead of care. Food is okay.

Not enough activities

This facility appears beautiful and clean. The outside space is very nice and fenced in for the memory care residents. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We have had very few problems here. However, there are not enough activities for the residents. They are left in their room or in the common area to sit. There is an activity room, but I seldom see anyone using it. Communication is not the best either. Phone calls are often put on hold and then dropped. Emails are answered only about 50% of the time.

Don't Go Here

My loved one was there for 2 weeks before he died. His diet was not monitored even though he was on a low to no salt diet. That was not followed. They fed him whatever. He was not allowed to have his vitamins because of residents accessing him belongings. He asked for a key and still wasn't allowed. My loved one paid over $5000 for two weeks, they did not pro rate or refund the remaining the amount we paid. We were not allow to eat with my loved one due to covid.
