The place is great, the people are very friendly and warm, with the exception of the Head Nurse [name removed]. Nurse [name removed] is extremely unprofessional, stubborn, uncaring and a bully. If you or your loved one don’t need the compassion of a good nurse this is a great place.

We chose Elmcroft of Southport because they had availability when we needed it. They were very easy to work with and welcoming to our family. They have a great personal service, the staff know everyone by name and seem to be very caring and positive. They are in the midst of changing management companies, we are hoping things stay as good as good as they are now. I would definitely recommend to others looking.

The staff at Elmcroft of Southport are caring and compassionate. We are very thankful to them for taking such good care of our aunt. Out of all the places she stayed in her later years, Elmcroft of Southport was the best long-term care option. I would highly recommend Elmcroft of Southport's services to someone looking for support for themself or for a family member.

We put our mom in Elmcroft of Southport. It was a hard decision but we are sooo happy we moved her there. She has dementia. The staff is very caring and like family. She is very happy having new friends and lots of activities. We are very relieved that she is happy and enjoying herself in this beautiful setting.

Carillon Assisted Living in Southport NC is NOT an assisted living facility in my opinion. It should be classed as an independent living facility. I cannot speak for the Alzheimers unit. The staff is required to perform tasks outside their job descriptions which leads to limited time to assist the residents that need help.The safety of the residents requiring assistance are at risk and this has been reported to the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. There is no schedule for resident showers, limited to absolutely no assistance in personal care, toileting. Daily personal care is not provided leaving the resident open to falls, frustration and lack of dignity. The call necklace the residence wear to call for assistance can take up to an hour for a response from staff. The meals in the dining room are lacking in quality. There is a $3.00 charge if your loved one does not go down to the dining room, however there is limited staff to help them to the dining room. We were told the laundry was to be done on a schedule weekly according to the residents room number. This did not occur and many times we had to personally take care of our loved ones laundry due to no clean items left! The trash was not emptied on a daily basis. Many times, we collected and put it in the hallway ourselves. The rooms are not cleaned nor were the beds made on a daily basis. Do not send your loved one here unless they can fend for themselves or unless you can be there to provide their care and be their voice.

I took my parents from San Diego to Southport, NC. When I went to get them, I had no idea how bad my Mom was. They lied to me. I found a very kind nurse on line who hooked me up with [Name removed] @ Carillon. If it wasn't for his assistance and his nurse [Name removed], I am not sure what would have happened. They helped me do this every step of the way. Now Mom has been there for 6 months and it was the best decision we made. Everyone is so kind and considerate of Mom and our feelings. Its a small group of people in the Memory Clinic part and they get more one on one attention. The aid's are VERY patient and assist all with consideration. When the hurricane came, they took Mom to a safer place and took care of her like their own mother. I only have good things to say about this wonderful facility.

Such a positive environment and the care is obvious from all the staff. I wish I could have worked it out for my mom. Thanks to [Removed] for all your attention while we were there to visit, and continued success with your facility.

Nice enough place, not enough private rooms, not as nice as other places but still had same price. Food was good as we had lunch there

I toured here when looking around. It was nice, and all the places were pretty comparable. It was a little too far away from me. It was clean and the staff was friendly. I wouldn't be able to get there very easily.
