Sunrise of McLean

Staff was great!!Would definitely recommend it. {named removed} son had a stroke last fall which affected his swallowing so he has been on a feeding tube. The tube was removed at the beginning of July. I transferred him from the nursing home in MD to Sunrise McLean Village, mostly because it's a brand new facility and is closer to my home than the other sunrise. Everyone has been very helpful and he is loving his new environment

What has made this such a great experience so far, is our loved one has people around her to make socialization easy. Someone to prepare her food and encourage her to eat. Great things for her well-being

My father is a reminiscent resident on the 3rd floor at Sunrise McLean since [date removed] as part of their 6-week Road to Home Program to recover from surgery. He was weak & frail but, the staff brought him back to being healthy & vibrant again. The disease was progressing and knowing that I could no longer give my father the kind of care he needed, I made the difficult decision to extend his stay. I could not be happier with that decision. The staff on the 3rd floor – from the management team to care managers, to PT/OT, to the front desk, & finally, the facilities staff – are the best. I go nearly every day, & the care is consistently excellent. It takes a unique set of skills to give care to reminiscent residents; Sunrise McLean hit the jackpot with the staff on the 3rd floor; residents are treated as family, w/love & affection; the staff works as a team and in partnership to give the best care to their residents. Sunrise McLean, keep up the good work!

The medical staff were consistently top notch. They went above and beyond daily. The nurses proactively advocated for things to make my dad's last days better. The concierge are friendly, welcoming and know EVERY THING! The chef goes above and beyond to offer healthy, tasty choices that meet everyone's needs. The cleaning staff does a great job cleaning the rooms and inside the building. The grounds crew keeps the gardens beautiful. It is a bonus to have beautiful spaces to enjoy outside and thru the window. The care manager staff needs improvement. There were a few stars in that cast, but too often the care managers did not come when buzzed. At all. Several times the care managers just wouldn't come until you called the supervisor. If I wasn't there, no one came. My dad stopped using his buzzer because he couldn't get someone to come. The care managers need improvement. The care managers are not well supervised. The stars who go above and beyond are not recognized. Those care managers who do a fabulous job cannot do it all. And the slackers get away with too much.

So far it's going well. We've had no problems with the care. Everyone has been very welcoming, both the staff and the patients. My family member has adjusted very well. The food is okay at best, and they could do a little bit better with that. But the nursing staff is very good. They let me know when prescriptions are low and need to be filled. They check in and give progress reports. And I have been very happy with that.

The community is nice and they have a library at the facility. Medical assistance is available, check out the menu and met with several different staff members to get a good feel for the community. I would recommend this community to others.

I find the staff caring and ready to help but they are too loud and not respectful to the residents.They don't use Please,Thank you or I am sorry.

My husband is very happy here at this community. He has adjusted very well to it, and I'am satisfied. It was a ruff transitional period, but all is well now. They have a lovely staff, and they have been great to work with. The community is very well-kept, everything is always very neat and tidy. He has a lovely small apartment, that looks great. They really work hard to make sure everything is running smoothly. I would highly recommend this community, it is a great place.

So far, so good. Took my Dad longer to assimilate than some. My brothers and go to be with our Dad several days each week, and we see how the staff interacts with him AND with the other residents. They are kind and they seem to check on their charges regularly. They don't smother them with attention, but they let the residents "be" and help them when needed. Nurses, the PT and the OT are very professional as well as gentle and kind as they work with the residents. Very effective team. Activities happen at regular intervals, and residents are invited to participate - this gives them something to look forward to each day. Food is ok---menu varies, but there are also some choices that are mainstays for those who don't like change. I wish that the offering of fresh fruit in the afternoons was better managed -- it has saran wrap over it, and it looks mushy after the first 30-60 minutes of exposure and being picked on. The SOUPS are really, really delicious! I was pleasantly surprised! Tastes fresh, and I think it is also low sodium. M-F daytime front desk person is cheerful and appears to be the heart of SUNRISE. She knows all of the residents and interacts with them, helps them, engages them in conversation and keeps the front area feeling positive.

I wanted to give a 5+ for the staff! Their friendliness and cooperation is above outstanding. I'd like to see more therapeutic and engaging activities for Memory Care patients. The location is very convenient to anybody in the area.

There are plenty of activities. From what my mom says it’s like a five star hotel. There’s a nice lobby and the staff – it’s like a very nice hotel. It’s a good value for the money. The staff is very friendly and it goes without saying that it’s very clean.

Many different floor plans available. Saw 2 studios and 2 one bedroom apt. Mom has 3 friends from church who are here, but all 3 of them are in a WC. Have nurse there 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Will be getting contract with rehab associates for PT, OT and ST. One month trial available, but would be in studio apt, until Mom would decide that she would want to stay. Cable ready but not included in rate. Like other Sunrise communities, employees do many tasks, rather than specializing in a certain task.

Thought facility was nice.
