SummerHouse Bay Cove

This place was recommended to us by a friend that had a parent stay there. They have taken very good care of my mother, excellent value for the money. The best comment I can say is when it is my time I hope they have room for me!!!!! Highly recommended, excellent care as well as the food being good. We have visited and eaten with her before.

I live in New York and my sister is in Mississippi, now in the memory care unit of Summerhouse Bay Cove. We did get to visit in August and were very pleased with the facility and staff. All staff, hands on and administrative are not only professional but warm and friendly. The memory care unit is very bright and open. I feel my sister is very well looked out for. All the staff seem so responsive. Not to single just one person out, but Tracy, an administrator has been very helpful as well as all the nurses and assistants. I always hesitate naming just one person because they are all so kind and helpful

The facility is kept clean. It is bright and sunny. My mom enjoys the activities. The only real negative is the quality of the food. To improve the food, they need to learn how to season without an abundance of salt. Also, the meats tend to be tough, so cooking times need to be adjusted. Finally, sauces can use more flavor ( not salt).

They give you a tour of the whole place. They let the residents pick the room. My mom is in their Memory Care Facility. They feed her 3 times a day and snacks in between. The staff is very helpful and caring. They clean her room and make sure she gets a shower.

I wouldn't recommend.

So far my mother has adjusted well to the changes of assisted living. Right now she is deemed independent so it’s more like having a small apartment, it’s very roomy compared to most of the facilities I toured. The staff seem very friendly. My only complaint is that the meals can be hit or miss but mostly they are ok and she seems to be getting plenty to eat. I always make sure she can get out and have some home cooked meals but I have peace of mind that she will be ok if I’m not able to get by there. She likes to play card games and bingo and I think the socializing is helping her mind stay stimulated which is exactly what her doctor said is best for her dementia diagnosis. I highly recommend this facility as it feels very much like a home and not institutional like a nursing facility. I do worry a little bit about “points” and care pricing increases as she declines and needs more help. Fortunately it was priced in a way that she still has some cushion for the future.

Staff is great but unfortunately short staffed as seems to be the norm for most places. The facility has a great layout and easy access to all parts. Pool table on the 2nd floor is a great activity for my 89 year old father.

The staff is understanding and caring. They do an excellent job cleaning and taking care of residents. The meals are good and the residents are encouraged to provide feedback on the menu and specific dishes they would like to add or remove. The only area I find lacking is the WiFi. I recommend SummerHouse Bay Cove to others.

The staff in the office and front desk were great. The nursing staff was not. They have a higher turnover rate and my grandmother fell around 11pm and no one found her until after 9 am. Food is okay, but they do offer a lot. Cost was reasonable, but care not good. Facility was very clean. We also had an issue with someone there stealing my grandmother's debit card info and charged over $1500 on the card. We had the bank fraud department take care of that.

My loved one is currently a resident at SummerHouse Bay Cove and things seem to be going very well for her at this facility. The move in process was a good experience. The staff, aides, and front desk personnel are great. We had issues with my loved one's medications not being up to date twice but all is okay now. The facility feels very warm, bright and airy with pleasant surroundings. Aides and housekeepers are very available and friendly. The PM nurse is delightful. I am glad that my loved one is in this facility. She was very resistant to leaving her home and it was so good to hear her say "I love it here!"

SummerHouse Bay Cove is the worst place ever, I wouldn't recommend this community to anyone they receive the lowest of ratings.

What we like most are the sunny interior, all the outdoor areas, and the friendliness of staff. The improvements include food, making sure all the residents have fire instruction posted on their doors, and everyone has the same orientation. My mom did move in and likes it. She is very active in the community. We would recommend this community.

Overall pleased but do have concerns with the weekend staff. We picked this community because of the cost, and it was more room.

SummerHouse Bay Cove is a nice place. I wish they had more activities that were accessible and would take residents to them if needed. Staff change is a little higher it seems. I do love the cleanliness of the place, and it is very pretty. Lots of nice residents too.

Food is great, rooms are nice and roomy and have balcony's, activities are wonderful but management is not responsive. The resident assistants are short staffed and do not always give the care needed when assigned. When things are brought up to management about missed showers, etc., they do not respond other than to say they will look into it but then no feedback.

This is a nice community. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. They are quick to respond to requests for the needs of our loved one. They are responsive to the family's questions and concerns, and if they don't know the answer they find out the answer and get back to us. There are three meals a day and there are choices for the residents to choose from. The community is clean and they do a good job at cleaning. However, the community is understaffed, like other places. I do see the community trying to hire and train new employees though.

Everyone in the facility are wonderful and go out of their way to help. They are sincerely nice and will always go the extra yard to take care of your loved. The activities they offer are different social events, music, crafts, they do outings with the residents and so much more. The residents receive 3 meals a day, with choices like would you like this or this today. They are very accommodating and aware of anything the residents may need.

SummerHouse is a really nice place and a great environment. The staff are great overall. Some here and there have their issues, but that occurs anywhere you go. They provide good care for my loved one. Really the only issue is they're having a hard time keeping housekeepers currently.

SummerHouse Bay Cove is a great place for you to put your mom; my mom has been very happy. We haven't sold her house just yet, but we are working on it. I would describe their staff as friendly and very nice, [name removed] is excellent. She's the one who's helped us and she's been wonderful. The move in process was easy as well. Some of their activities include shopping, eating and other outings, board games, wine tasting, etc., she's very happy. I would recommend them to anybody!

The community has transportation available for the residence. The staff and director are very nice and really try to accommodate and requests. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.
