Everyone is nice and polite, but the place smells of urine which means they must be lacking staff. Also, all of my mother’s washcloths are gone. Missing socks. I wasted my time putting her name on her items as the facility requested. Within the first month or so of being there she was loaded with fluid. They were oblivious to it. During the 5 months I rehabbed her, she had no fluid. I took her to a cardiologist who started Lasix. I requested a low sodium diet and told them to not give her processed foods. They seemed as though I was asking for the impossible. I am unable to take care of my mom. I became ill and am undergoing a long recovery.

At Ivy Ridge some staff are exceptional and some are not. Most of the staff are exceptional. They have a singer come in and other activities. I would just like to see a few more activities. Their food needs to be more healthy. It's sandwiches, or hamburgers, and tater tots. When the staff first initially talked to us on the phone it seemed like they were more accommodating but once you get in they aren't as accommodating. Mom couldn't go to the bathroom on her own and the nurses only come in at specific times. They don't seem to tailor to her needs. Some of the nurses really goes above and beyond.

They were very helpful in getting my loved one in there and made some special circumstances because of her condition. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone there at Ivy Ridge was just really good.

The staff was very receptive and approachable. I have never had any problems when trying to communicate or making any requests. One thing where I do feel they could improve is this: Since I am using their doctor, I would like a little more access to talk to their physician. I would like to talk to him personally to ask some questions and get his take on some things regarding my mother. Other than that everything with Ivy Ridge has been a very positive experience and I would highly recommend them. Overall it is a very good program.

My mom loves living at Ivy Ridge. It makes me feel comfortable that she's at a safe apartment environment. She's met friends and participates in their activities.

Although physical (facility) upgrades were clearly overdue, the 'people' aspect of Ivy Ridge was a great fit, and a space the meet our needs available. The facility had been recently purchased by a new owner and things seemed on the uptick. With the passage of time, that has changed. The once good meals are now poor, many of the good staff members and leadership have moved on, the facility is still lacking. I learn that the hot water is turned off overnight and not turned on again early enough for residents to shower before breakfast. Things that staff did for residents are no longer done. I'd encourage the state to make a spot check.

Our sister could no longer live independently. We chose Vista Park (the memory care section of Ivy Ridge) based upon the reviews, and have been quite pleased with our choice. (We are out of state, and she needed immediate accommodation.) We visited recently, and were impressed by the cleanliness and homeyness of the facility. The furnishings were warm and inviting, the food, our sister tells us, is good, and the staff answered our questions freely. I particularly liked the manager's firm belief in not "over medicating." The behavior and general cheerfulness of the residents reflected that. The staff was friendly and treated the residents with respect, which we liked. In general, we felt comfortable leaving our sister, confident that she was in good hands, and that she would would live comfortably. She hasn't yet participated in the regular outings to a well-known department store chain, so that will have to come in a subsequent review. Our sister has been a resident for only a month, but I feel confident in highly recommending Vista Park. It doesn't look like an institution, doesn't smell like an institution (no smell at all), and doesn't behave like an institution. As much as possible, it looks and feels like a home.

There really isn't anything I can think of that needs to be improved or done better. They are very easy to work with and easy to get a hold of.The staff here are very friendly and accommodating, especially so right after our loved one moved in. They were constantly touching base with us and checking in, and when we went to visit almost every employee popped in to introduce themselves. They really impressed us right from the beginning, she felt right at home. It's a low-key, comfortable, friendly place, and we'd definitely recommend it to others! The dining room was like a home dining experience love the food

Ivy Ridge had some great features. The rooms were very nice, things were clean & bright. The enclosed outside area with a pond & ducks was nice. I appreciated the connection with Vista Park ~ Jeff was very comfortable showing me around and Brandie was pleasant and open for questions. If and when my mom has memory loss issues, I know they will be on top of it with Vista Park next door. The vibe was more 'family like' and 'open door'. For the money, this would be my first choice.

Unfortunately, my dad became ill, and I had to make a decision on leaving him home alone, or a nursing home. Since I live out of state, I was worried about what to do. After investigating senior homes, in care nursing, and home health care aid options, I was given information about Ivy Ridge in Petersburg, Va. When I walked into this well lite, spacious, and clean smelling place, I was amazed at how inviting it is. Bright and pretty walls, with a "day room" for seniors living there to look at a pond filled with ducks! I met Mr. and Mrs. Jeff/Brandi French, and was even more amazed at the attention they gave to me. When my dad moved in, it was a transition for him and me. Mr. and Mrs. French attended to our every need, and when a problem came about, they were pro-active in combating it! There were some small and minor issues with some of the staff members, but overall, everyone helped my dad, and seemed willing to go above and beyond to ensure we are happy. My dad adjusted pretty much, and is still there. Mrs. French is active in the residents' lives, and she sent me a pix of my dad taking in the sun in a rocking chair on their spacious porch. There are imperfections with all things, at Ivy Ridge they are minor, and I would recommend this assisted living facility to those new to a situation of finding a comfortable place for a loved one, and feeling happy they made the right decision.

My father has only been there for two days. Transitioning to the facility was smooth and non-stressful for him. The staff is very nice and so are the other residents. I like the new leadership. They seem to be doing an excellent job working at making sure things are done right in regards to care for those who live there. So far I am very pleased.

My brother and sister and I went and my sister had heard some good things about them but when we went they weren't very organized and it kind of had a smell to it, almost medicinal, maybe from cleaning up urine. It was very dark and also, we saw the staff there interact with some of the patients and it wasn't the best. We knew we could cross it off our list.

We liked the staff and the rooms except the shared rooms did not have showers. Showers were down the hall. Liked the close location to home.
