My mom, as well as my sister & I, were extremely happy with Southern Heritage. They had new activities planned daily & were good about encouraging Mom to participate. The staff was always available to assist or answer questions. Laurie became the new Administrator during Mom's stay. She was also one of the nurses there so did the job of both & was so sweet & kind to everyone. Mom was very happy with the meals and loved participating in activities. I wish we had moved her there sooner. We are so thankful to A Place for Mom for their assistance in finding a location closer to me for our mother.... Read more

That place was bad. Caregivers were in the car smoking, and on phone. No one was with patients at 9:00 at night.

Filthy garbage. Two feet from each back door. Overflowing. stinking garbage in laundry room. Puts plastic table cloths but doesn’t wipe down after each meal. Maybe 1 times a week. Money over residents. No services. If you fall they refuse to assist us when we call. They tell the cops to break the door down because nobody has keys for our building. Residents selling drugs. Unlicensed residents driving other residents around. Police called because administrators do not intercede with resident conflict. Constant turmoil. Nearly no activities. Housekeeping is a joke with [name removed]. [name removed] the best working at 70 years old to afford this place and the are killing her making a 5 foot tall woman empty garbage cans that are nearly as tall as her. Im much younger and stronger and I can barely lift a half full wet diapers bag. 92 year old woman lifting a bag is bad enough. But making her go outside sand barely able to open the heavy doors. Have leases but they want more money. Illegally raised rent.

There will be things you would like to be different, but after all this is not meant to be the home you created with your family. It is a next step in life. They need to spend a little more time cleaning the social area and keeping the laundry room clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There are limited activities, but what is offered is fun and well organized. I think the pricing is fair for what we get here.

They offer a lot of activities inside the facility and do the best that they can - but there are no outings. They do bingo, have entertainment come in, etc. When you walk in the facility is smells like a gourmet restaurant. I have only eaten a couple of things, but you can just tell by the smell how good of quality it is. The residents are clean and look happy, you don't walk in a smell urine or any strong smells trying to cover something up. I would not have any problems recommending Southern Heritage to other families.

Southern Heritage is a very nice place to be. If a resident needs help, all they have to do is call, and the staff will be right there to help, even on the independent side. They're overall very friendly and helpful. The apartment is small but nice.

We like the smaller setting of Southern Heritage community, our loved one is able to receive more personalized care. The community between the staff members and our family is great, they keep that line of communication open all the time and notify us regarding anything with our loved one. There are plenty more activities for our loved one to do, and she says the meals are really good and she goes to the dining hall for every meal. Southern Heritage has a really positive atmosphere to it and we would recommend them to other families.

It's a great place. My loved one's care needs might be starting to get higher than they can realistically handle. But for other people, it would be good place to go. Everything is really nice. The food is good. It's just a great place for somebody who can care for themselves with some assistance.

This facility is a great place for your aging Mom or Dad. At her first visit, my mom decided that was the place for her. The staff are all very caring and helpful. The setting is very comfortable and well maintained. No regrets for choosing this for my Mom!

We chose Southern Heritage because of the convenient and familiar location as well as the value for the money. She stayed in a respite room that was fully furnished and they were able to meet her needs. She was not happy because there were not many activities provided so she got pretty bored.

Everything there was top notch, from the administrators all the way down to the staff that took care of my loved one every day. I have no complaints whatsoever about the place. The care my loved one received was fantastic. For what they had to deal with, between Covid challenges and general obstinance from seniors, they did a fantastic job. They did a great job of making my loved one feel right at home, and that he was loved and cared for. He loved being here.

Worst facility in the area, staff has gotten in trouble for stealing narcotics, they had a squater in their building cooking crack, the administrator has gotten in the residents faces on multiple occasions and has even denied medical treatment instead of notifying family members when it was necessary, staff is overworked, they have fired staff while they were greaving a loss of a family member and one employee while she was in ICU. Please do your research on where you place your loved ones. This facilities focus is on the money and not on the residents.

We liked this facility The rooms are clean with fresh paint and carpet. The common area could use new carpet. We liked that it is a small facility and medication management is available.

This looked like a well taken care of community when I visited. The person that took us on tour was nice. This community does offer transportation. This is a smaller community and I did not feel it would work for my loved one.

My mother has complimented how kind and nice the staff is. She goes down to attend events and participates in crafts. The community meets all of her needs and she's adjusted well.

I am happy with this community. The cleanliness is outstanding. My mom is not very happy with the meals. They have a variety of activities. This is a location that is close for us to visit. We would suggest that families tour this community for the care of a loved .

I have found the staff at Southern Heritage Assisted Living to be attentive and caring to the needs of my loved one. They are prompt in notifying a family member of any problems. The food is good. The facility is clean. The decor is very appealing to the seniors of this generation that are living there. There are some activities for seniors to participate in. My only suggestion would be to add more activities. Otherwise, my family is very happy with this facility. We feel like our loved one is feeling at home and content.

We really enjoyed the tour of this community. The staff was nice and showed us around. We just felt that this was not the right place. The activities that they had did not fit mom and the community was a lot smaller . However, all was nice and it was well lite.

A Place for Mom has scored Southern Heritage Assisted 8.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
