We have one suggestion, and that is for new residents sit at a designated table at the beginning so the resident doesn't feel so ostracized and older residents can notice them and then meet each that way. They should teach men how to do laundry, it's a wonder the machines don't tear up more than they do! She loves the activities, library, beauty shop, and staff!! Oh yes, I would recommend it, I would live there happily. Again a great staff, and they have a piano any one can play. I enjoyed the non-denominational church too. Good food, especially the Meatloaf!!... Read more

The care attendants are excellent:skilled, respectful, cheerful. Executive staff is somewhat responsive. I only had to call four times to talk to a person in the business office about my monthly statement. Facility is in poor repair. Food is very good but the dining room is noisy, chaotic, and disordered. Facility is not well kept: unsightly, missing mailbox covers;inadequate laundry facilities; severely understaffed maintenance personnel. Activities consist of: an excursion at 10 a.m. or chair yoga; golf card game at 2 p.m; bingo; Netflix or Prime Video movie at 6:30; and, crafts in the community room at various times. Same thing practically every day.

I would say that it is probably the best place around, but they could work on their communication skills and follow-ups. Also [name removed]has been there in a new apartment for about four or five months and we still can't get the password to the Wi-Fi and her television working.

Told us we'd be locked in for a year at price and then went up to [fee removed] later, but besides that everything else was great

Friendly, caring staff & residents!! Mom’s new apt is big & beautiful! Her cat loves it too. Mom wasn’t moving anywhere without her fur baby. Love the cafe, no cafeteria lines there! It’s peaceful & quiet! After the hustle & bussle of raising a family & working, this is exactly where you want to go after retiring. There’s always activities throughout the day & movies every night. Mom has a lot of new friends, back to being a social butterfly and so happy!!

I feel as though the dinners I've seen for the Memory Care wing are almost too basic. I've only see sandwiches with yogurt and goldfish. No real fruit or veggies. I'd love to see them have weekend activities.

I live in an Independent Living Apt. It has a big living room and bedroom with a large walk-in closet. The kitchen has a bar between the living room. The bathroom has a tub with a shower and safety grab bars. There is no stove but I have a large refrigerator and a microwave, toaster and a coffee maker. I plan to get a crockpot although I don't need it. The food is much better than [removed] and we don't have to pay for our lunches...three meals a day are included here.

The business management side of the facility is less than satisfactory. Questions regarding billing and statements have gone unanswered for weeks and are being totally ignored.

Other places we had our loved one were impatient with her and her issues. Signal Mountain Senior Living cared for her and were always accommodating for us. [name removed] was there for us, every step of the way. The caregivers were top notch and very friendly.

I would say the sales person went above a beyond to get us in and was wonderful to work with. The scary part is afterwards. You're given one price, then the next month, they want you to pay more. If they don't like the resident, they call the police and claim the resident is crazy and send them off for treatment to a hospital. You know this is a common problem when the doctor at the hospital calls you and tells you if this was their family member they would remove them ASAP because the doctor believes the resident and not the Assisted Living facility. Once you go to remove your loved one for safety reasons, you're told you've got to give a 30 day notice and then they try to strong arm you into paying another month at a higher rate then what you agreed to when you moved in. This is supposed to be an Assisted Living facility. However, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that would actually need assistance. It's only good if you are 100% capable to be on your own, and then I would recommend you just get an apartment.

What we like the most about the Signal Mountain Senior Living community is the staff. The facility is beautiful but the staff has made it a superior place. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would absolutely recommend this community to other families

My loved one is currently a resident at Signal Mountain Senior Living and most everything has been very good for him at this facility so far. The move in process was okay. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also keep me updated about my loved one, even if I have just visited him. The food is good. The housekeeping could use a little help. Overall, I would recommend Signal Mountain Senior Living to others.

Anyone considering this facility is welcome to [removed] this is not a place you want to put your loved one-poor management and supervision-everyone has a different job and there is no consistency or acceptance of responsibility

Overall the staff at Signal Mountain have been great. There are some grumpy employees, and we have had a few issues with cleaning that needed to be ironed out. Mom loves the activities. The food is terrible. I make meals for mom and deliver them to her to have when she just can eat the food that day. That said, there is always a hamburger or sandwich available. Unfortunately she's diabetic, so that's not always helpful.

I toured with Signal Mountain Senior Living and in one word it was simply nasty. It was the worst out of them all. It was dirty inside and out.

Mother just recently passed away after two years at SMSL. Her apartment was lovely with a balcony and beautiful view! She eventually had to move to the 3rd floor because she was not able to do the stairs in case of fire. It was a great room also. I can't say enough positive things about the staff here. They went out of their way to take care of Mother and make her feel loved and safe. Everyone from the Nurses, Resident Assistances, Maintenance and Administration were outstanding! A special shout-out to [name removed] the chef and wait staff in the Dining Room.......Mother loved [name removed] cooking and she adored [name removed] too! It's hard to put a loved one into a facility when you can no longer take care of them but SMSL was a Godsend to me and my husband for the care and love they bestowed upon Mother. They were also so supported of me when at times I would start to enter the rabbit hole of stress and anxiety over Mother. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!!

August 13, 2023Hi Beverly, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your family's experience with Signal Mountain Senior Living. Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your mother, Beverly; it is so difficult losing a loved one, and we are humbled to know that her time with us was such a positive one. Your kind words about our staff mean a lot to us. We strive to provide caring and compassionate service to all of our residents and their families, especially during times of stress and uncertainty. If there is anything we can do to assist you further, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you again for your valuable feedback.
I think the staff is exceptional. Everyone we met was so friendly and we had a chance to meet all of the directors of the different departments the first day we went to visit. I thought the food was going to be a little bit better than it has turned out to be. I had a chance to meet the chef and the kitchen staff though and they make every effort to do the best that they can and want to try and allow you to individually choose what you want. They will make whatever you would like that is not on the menu and I think that is great. The property and the view is very pleasant as well. The security is great and we also got the numbers for the front desk if we were there afterhours. It feels very safe. The value for the money here is great, he is saving a lot of money each month by being here. We did not even have to look at other places, he put his money down the day that we came to tour.

A Place for Mom has scored Signal Mountain Senior Living 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
