A good experience working with your team. From out of town so your recommendations were so helpful. We chose Salanta at the Park. They were very kind to my sister and brother in law. Sadly my sister only lived for about 10 days and brother in law [date removed]. Cleanliness was satisfactory. I was only there a couple of times to get them settled. Friendly helpful staff. With my limited exposure I feel they took good care of my loved ones. My brother in law had dementia so his activities were TV. I was not present for Most of their stay. I'm not knowledgeable about average costs. My sister needed little care due to her short stay. I'm guessing costs were comparable to the market. For our needs and the reassurance that they would have good care, I feel it was a good choice. Sadly We could not be present so had faith they would have good care.... Read more

Response from Solana at the Park
September 13, 2024Hi there, We are enlightened to hear that you had a wonderful experience moving in your sister and brother in law. We try our hardest to make sure families feel comfortable in our communities as well.
Be very clear about the level of care you are charged for and receive Be cautious about medications/ always ask what meds are being given The food is acceptable but for those with difficultly chewing the menu is not ideal, even soups have big chunks of veggies etc

Response from Solana at the Park
December 22, 2023Thank you for your review of Solana at The Park. We take all feedback seriously and are always seeking opportunities to provide a high standard of living for all of the ladies and gentlemen living with us. If you would be willing to call us and talk more in detail, we would be grateful. Our number i s 623-566-8026.
The quality and nutrition of the food has gone down. More food is being wasted than is being eaten due to poor quality and poor food choices. There is a lot of fried food being served that is overcooked and not healthy. Examples are overcooked breaded shrimp, overcooked breaded fried fish, hamburger & chicken breast overcooked, dry, and hard to chew. Even though items are on the daily menus they are not available (e.g. eggs at breakfast). The other menu that says "you can order these items at any time" are also not available. Residents told that the menus are set by corporate, and Solana has no control over it. Residents are not happy with the food coming out of the kitchen. Residents and family members have expressed their concerns several times to Solana about cost cutting measures and nutritional needs that should comply with federal dietary guidelines, but no action has been taken to make changes. The list for Meals & Dining on the corporate website is not happening at Solana.

Staff seems to really care. As far as activities go - I thought they had something for veterans, but haven't seen it. I think they could do more to engage the men. Possibly they could also try to come up with learning activities/lectures, like those offered by libraries. It seems like they are light on activities for those who still are pretty sharp mentally.

Most of the staff are 5 stars with friendliness, an occasional 2 which will eventually be addressed. The activities get 5 stars due to the PT and OT. The overall experience was positive and the Koelsch organization is very professional and works hard at making a stay a very positive experience. My mother was able to rehab successfully in Solana and return to her home where she is now managing well on her own. The staff works hard and with empathetic care to make the best of one's stay. We would recommend this community to other families.

Solana at the Park is a beautiful facility but was just too big for my parents, they wanted something smaller and more intimate. They had a lot of great amenities provided for residents but a lot of those things my parents would not have taken advantage of such as the swimming pool.
We chose Solona at the Park because when you walk in it is so welcoming and open, especially the dining room area. The sales lady was very good. Everything started out great, but things have started to slip a little because of the amount of turnover in nursing staff. The executive director has been wonderful and great to work with. The meals here are chef prepared and he really enjoys them. I would recommend to others looking.

Solana at the Park is not only a beautiful facility but it is also a warm and welcoming place to call home. Everyone becomes friends and go on walks. I look forward to meal times knowing they are health and attractively served. Great maintenance is evident throughout the buildings and grounds. I am very pleased to tell others about the benefits of being a Solana resident.

Our family was able to do an in person tour and the facility was very nice. The people we spoke with on our tour were very helpful, we have nothing negative to say about the community. The only reason we did not choose it, was because it seemed like it was geared more towards assisted living and not independent living. The rooms were also smaller then what our loved one wanted, but otherwise it was a great community. .
Everything and person I have contact with has impressed me.

We chose this facility because I thought it was a bit more quaint, it did not smell when I walked in here, and they led me to believe they were geared more towards veterans. I did think they would have more veteran activities but I did not really see that. Their head nurse here, she is amazing and is available after hours if we needed anything. They were also very helpful with setting me up with the hospice services. They were just really good to my dad. I would recommend to others looking.

My father-in-law was a resident at Soloana At The Park until his recent passing. He had been a resident for 2 1/2 years and our experience, including his was great. The meals were great, his apartment was comfortable and the care he received was outstanding. Upon his passing the staff went out of their way to assist and comfort him during his last few days as well as extend every courtesy to us during a very difficult time. If the need arises that we would need this type of care we would select Solana as our first choice.

My 91 year old mother recently fell and broke her hip, requiring a two week stay at Solana, while I made arrangements for her to move to the Seattle area to be near more family. At the time of the fall, she was residing across the street at The Park, but realized after she got out of the hospital and rehab, we needed her to be close to us. I found a Koelsch property close to us in Washington, but Mom needed a little more time to recover before I could fly her up here. I called Solana, and met with [name removed] to tour the facility. From the beginning, I was impressed with Solana and working with [name removed] was great. She is respectful and very professional, but so friendly and easy to work with. She was extremely helpful throughout our transition of getting Mom from rehab, to Solana, then up to Washington. She, and everyone I dealt with during Mom’s brief stay, was just so helpful, and, with the added complications of an ongoing pandemic, it could have been so much harder making all those “arrangements” work for Mom. I felt very lucky that [name removed] (and Solana) was there for us. I can’t thank them enough!

Simply said I found Amy Barta to be the consummate pro while we worked together placing my wife [name removed] in Solana. She reads the person she is working with extremely well. I would recommend [name removed] in a heartbeat as I worked in sales and marketing for 48 years.

I am a resident here at Solana at the Park and feeling more and more at home as time goes on. It was a rough beginning due to the Covid 19 virus lockdown and the quarantines, but I am settling in now. Solana was an excellent choice for my future home. The apartment is quiet, clean and comfortable. The caregivers are capable and kind, always responding to the many tasks they are asked to do. Mealtime is not ho-hum. The food is yummy and a wide variety is offered day to day. Meals were delivered to our rooms and now we can go to the dining area. This opening was a moral booster as it offered more contact among old and new friends. We are all waiting for the day when the doors open to our friends and family to visit. Until then, it is a good place to be.

After a month in an acute care facility, it was decided to move mother to Surprise. From the very beginning, the information [name removed] provided and the assurance I felt confirmed to me that this would be a good move for my mother. Conversations with [name removed] regarding mother's needs and care were very reassuring. Even with the difficulties COVID-19 brings, the staff have been so helpful while keeping everyone safe. I have been nothing but pleased, and mother says they treat her like "royalty." How good is that!
