What our family likes the most about the Schaffer Heights community is that they have a 24 hour front desk, they have security cameras and the staff members are friendly. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

If you need services like housekeeping. You can get it within a week or so of moving in because a number of agencies already serve residents here.Totally unlike other retirement communities. More geared to very independent seniors who want a good residence that leaves you peacefully alone to do what you want, but the staff is there if you need them. So is the County. The County Agency on Aging is headquartered within the building. (And there is a good hair stylist at the comnunity.)

I would recommend the community and for you to move in. The cleanliness of the community stands out to me. The staff are very good to work with if you have questions or concerns. Bingo, monthly parties, tennis association, contests, and more are some of the activities for the residents to choose from.

Schaffer Heights is a great match for my Mom. We were very happy with bldg staff and how easy it was to get everything settled to move her in right away. The building is very nice, the apt. is very cute and just the right size for a one bedroom. Catholic charities and office of the aging is right in the building so it is easy to set up services like transportation. They also offer cooked meals( for a charge) a few times a week. The meals are great and large portions. The rent is affordable and the staff is very friendly.

It is a wonderful establishment and there are many levels of care for every individual depending on their situation and needs. The staff is quite attentive and friendly. There is not a lot of younger handicap residents, but there are a lot older than me and some younger and i am 86. The service and residence is great overall, and i am very pleased with my stay.

My parents have lived here for a few years now. Schaffer Heights has a full calendar of in-house and off site events, buses to two major grocery stores, monthly trips to area malls, and a community room for movie night and social events. An in-house food service sells and delivers wonderful hot meals twice a week and offers a menu of hot and cold breakfast items in the community room on Mondays. There is a spot within each apartment for W/D, but there is also a laundry room on each floor. A trash room on each floor has a trash chute and a place for recyclables. Maintenance is on top of things in the building. There is an on-site adult day care center. The first three floors are county offices related to the aging, caregivers, elder abuse, etc. There is an attorney who volunteers his time once a week to residents. There is a hairdresser that also comes to the building once a week or so. There is someone at the security desk 24/7. Price for 2 BR with balcony $896. One bedroom apartments are obviously less. The only drawback to the building is that there is only one small community room which tends to be in use a lot of the time. There is no place for the residents to congregate except in the public lobby. The residents also do not have access to a bank.

A Place for Mom has scored Schaffer Heights 9.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
