My introduction to Sante of Mesa was being left in my feces for over an hour. This happened twice. I had been prescribed by the surgeon and my doctor a muscle relaxer to ease cramping which was a preexisting condition. It had nothing to do with the surgery. The doctor at Sante ignored this fact and canceled all my meds because he didn’t agree with the medication. He just wouldn’t listen.

Sante was the END for my husband. It was the third facility after he suffered a stroke. He hated it there. The room was a mess, he was filthy, and people were rude. What I didn’t know was, it was a covid facility, too. Two weeks into his stay, they propped him up on the side of the bed by a walker and left him there. He fell on the floor bruising or cracking ribs on one side. Then he got covid. A few days later he ended up back in the ER for breathing issues and was then transferred to hospice in the middle of the night. Hospice had to bathe him before even putting him to bed because he was so dirty. He died 10 days later. Hospice was kind and caring.

My 91 year old husband was in Sante of Mesa for 28 days.. I realize places are understaffed and this is a hard job, but if a person applies for this job, then take care of the patients and don't treat them like you are doing them a favor. Majority of the help are rude. Ninety percent of his meals were cold and the gals delivering them would plop them down so fast and out the door he did not have time to ask them to heat. So we brought him food from home. In the 28 days, he was showered twice..........and I believe the last shower was because he was being transferred out the next day so the wanted him clean. Couple days after his transfer, he got a haircut and he had sores on his scalp....some were scratched open and bleeding. Must say there were a few very pleasant workers there.........mostly the ones who came around with menu selections sheets. I was there during some of his Therapy sessions ........... and they were all very pleasant and helpful with my husband.

My mom was not given her pain medication while she was here. A young speech therapist was in charge of her diet and she decided that my mom could only receive thickened liquids and this caused her to become impacted. I had to stay with her many nights to make sure she was cared for. The physician never examined her and no one would listen to me about her diet and care needs. The nursing staff was abominable. She ended up in the emergency room and they did a blood test to verify she had not been receiving her medication.

A Place for Mom has scored Sante Of Mesa 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
