Sage Oak Assisted Living and Memory Care of Lake Charles

My husband was only there six weeks. Those six weeks were great. The food was awesome and he enjoyed it. As a spouse, I was invited to eat with him often. The care was great. The residents were encouraged to stay in the living room instead of their room. If there was something special they would like from the grocery store they would buy it. They provided Dr. Pepper for my husband.

My greatest complaint is the lack of staff, particularly the RN. They are overextended and at times can not meet the needs of the residents. There are loose terms for the different levels of care. I have hired out someone to come bathe, brush her teeth, and wash/fix her hair on a weekly basis. My mother needs Memory Care and there are limited facilities in the area. I would recommend this facility to others.

Just wish I had moved him sooner. We really like the hominess. I felt like I was a part of the family. I was always welcome to dine with him. His last meal was Thanksgiving and I fed him and I also had a plate. He enjoyed their food. They quickly learned his likes and dislikes. They do need better recliners for the ones they keep in the great room to watch. We thought we liked another care facility but when we saw SO, we knew we wanted [name removed] here.

It is a blessing to be with Sage Oak staff and they take good care of me when I need help! To sum up Sage Oak of Lake Charles, they have the BEST CARE and the BEST CAREGIVERS. Since moving in, I’ve made many friends – and the food is GREAT!

I moved into Sage Oak because I wasn’t happy with my situation at another local community. The staff at Sage Oak is more cheerful and more helpful than where I was before. And the food is GREAT – I can’t pick a favorite, because I haven’t had the same thing twice! My advice to anyone considering a move to Sage Oak is: DROP EVERYTHING AND COME!

Sage Oak of Lake Charles provides a new concept to SWLA that is introducing boutique style senior living, better caregiver to resident ratios to provide more personal care, and custom cooked meals in a residential style kitchen! I am a proud nurse and a Lake Charles native, having spent the last 9 years in healthcare I truly see the value in the concept that Sage Oak has to offer to our area! Sage Oak the perfect option in my mind for seniors to the best care, food, and communication. Sage Oak is introducing a brand new perspective to our local area that is rewarding beyond measure. The concept allows for seniors to maintain strong cognitive and physical abilities while being in a home environment! The staff at Sage Oak is thoroughly impressive, I have enjoyed working with everyone here the last few months and I feel it is so important to work together as a team; and that is exactly what we do! I would move my own family into Sage Oak of Lake Charles, without a doubt!

Okay so let me start by saying, every idea you’ve ever had of a nursing home or assisted living facility, throw that away. This “community” is really something out of a dream. Upon walking into the first house, I got the sense of welcome and the sense of home. It doesn’t feel like a medical facility or just anything remotely close to a nursing home. It was truly like walking into someone’s home. The kitchen is actually a kitchen! No more guessing what you're going to be eating while you’re brought into the eating area with 30 other people. Now I didn’t eat any of the food but it appeared to be 5 star meals. The presentation was out of this world. Kudos to the chef! So if you take anything from what I am saying, please check out Sage Oaks for all your loved ones! Maybe even yourself! Let’s not forget the team. They are just the best and most amazing group of people I have come across. I truly believe they will make a difference in long term care.

My first thought when I saw the building was that it was a neighborhood being built. To my surprise, it was an assisted living/retirement community. I attended the grand opening and was astounded at what I saw! The outside of the location was beautiful. Once I entered the house that hosted the opening, I was surprised to find that it felt more like a home than it did a facility. The common area was spacious, and the kitchen area was something out of a mansion. It had the appeal of a home-style kitchen but was large enough to seat multiple families. I toured the show house and was amazed at the rooms. Just big enough not to feel cramped and had a large bathroom area. The staff was warming and welcoming. They seemed to be compassionate about the care for their residents and would not hesitate to send a loved one there for a forever home! Not to mention, the food was terrific! I would not mind living there right now if I could!

My wife and I attended the open house and met with the owner, manager and chef.This place reinvents the concept of luxury boutique care and it is awesome. The homes are beautiful and the onsite chef prepared some delicious food. It is a open and inviting floor plan that encourages socializing and not just staring at a TV all day. It is designed to be safer and provide better care. It is a place that I would be proud to have care from my parent and hopefully myself when the time comes.

I am so happy that Sage Oak is opening in Lake Charles. It’s going to change assisted living & memory care for good. The smaller more intimate setting which feels just like a big single family house is way better then the traditional long hallways in the big buildings. Although the design and concept is exceptional what really sets them apart is their staff! They are all so passionate about improving their residents’ experience it is inspiring!
