Riva Ridge Assisted Living was a true blessing for my family and my father during his final 3.5 months. From the start, we knew we had made the right choice. The facility, managed by owner [name removed], is cozy and home-like, instantly putting us at ease. The care team was exceptional, treating my father with love and compassion, which gave me great peace of mind. They ensured his comfort and well-being until the end. The staff’s organization and responsiveness stood out; they kept me informed and handled his health changes professionally. When my father passed, they managed everything with care and sensitivity. I highly recommend Riva Ridge for anyone in the Austin area seeking compassionate, high-quality care for a loved one.... Read more

Riva Ridge has a totally different model that we loved. The person who owns it actually built this house to care for his parents in. It is a giant house with a separate wing. It felt very home like, for example they have a dog and gardens out back. The person showing me around was so helping and informative. We had heard it was possibly being sold which was why we did not go with them.
My dad moved into Riva Ridge in March, just as covid19 restrictions began, so we haven't been able to visit him inside. At first we could visit on their lovely porch across the back of the building, but the government orders are well observed and we can no longer go there. The owner/manager (who lives with his family on the property) encouraged us to put a camera in his room, which we did. We've observed the staff take great care of our dad, always 2 people at a time, changing him, dressing him, transferring him with a lift to his wheelchair, combing his hair, brushing his teeth. For an assisted living place, he is getting way more routine care than he did at Cedar Pointe. He spends most of the day in the living room with the other residents. In the assisted living side, I believe there are 13 residents and it feels more like a home than any other place I've seen. There is also a memory care side. The bedding seems like it's changed daily, including the bedspread. When my dad started hanging his legs over one side of the bed at night, they put up rails on each side to prevent that. We couldn't be happier with where my dad is, especially at this crazy time of the corona virus. We feel so blessed to have gotten him there!

My dad has been here for 4 months now and it has been a great move. This is our 5th place for my dad; one move was his level of care changed became too much for the staff, but the others were due to inadequate and unsafe care. Riva Ridge is designed for the residents to be in an eye shot of a caregiver at all times even while the caregiver is doing other duties. The staff is amazing and I find the owner genuinely interested in making his residents and their families' lives better My dad recently had a blood sugar issue and they handled it with great clinical care. The setting is quiet and peaceful and has provided us relief knowing dad is finally ok.

I really wished I had found this place sooner for both my parents. They lived in 3 other local communities and had less than stellar experiences there. We moved Mom into Riva Ridge Memory Care at the end of her journey and I cannot find the words to convey how very impressed we were with the facility, the staff, the director, and hospice that they recommended and worked with. It was over the top, just a beautiful, loving, caring experience. The director, [name removed] is an admirable and caring man who is very hands on, runs a tight ship, and is on top of things at every minute. He visited Mom every day. It was also evident that he has a genuine care for his staff and treats them amazingly well. The staff...Oh the staff! Every one of them so sweet, loving, efficient, knowledgeable, and above and beyond caring. A special thanks to [name removed], you are an Angel! They also prepared a Venezuelan meal for Mom when we mentioned she liked a particular dish. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and the extra effort. Real people with big hearts, delivering genuine care. They genuinely wanted to know her, and us. More importantly, they did not miss a beat in ensuring her food, meds, positioning, changes, bathing, and everything else took place exactly when it needed to. They made sure she was in the best possible state of comfort until her passing. They we're kind and patient with her and with all of us and we witnessed that with everyone else that was there as well. I honestly did not believe that that level of care existed anywhere and I am forever grateful to all of you. You are all amazing human beings and we are so fortunate to have found you. Readers: If you are on the fence even price wise, don't think twice. This place is the greatest gift you can give your loved one and peace of mind that you chose the best for them does not have a price tag. These folks work hard and are genuinely caring, knowledgeable and precise. Nothing slips through the cracks. Not to mention the facility and setting is gorgeous, clean, and tranquil. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

Weird owner and seems to have a revolving door of staff. Employees don't seem properly trained. Photos online are old and reviews are even older. Suspect this place us going downhill. Look elsewhere.

The photos are of old staff that all quit or was fired. The newer staff all leaving cause of management being mean and treating people like they dont have any sense. Better to go to another place...

Perfect facility for may sister. Just what we are looking for as far as the facility goes. Location is a problem!!! Too hard for family members to get to to visit. Road would probably be impassable in after a severe storm. Have pendant that patient wears and can press for help, patient to care giver ratio lowest of all 1:4.

My mother-in-law has dementia and has been here since June. Everyone, from the owner down to the handyman, has been so nice and supportive. The caregivers are exceptional! I have seen many assisted living facilities and this stands above all the rest. This is truly a fantastic place for your loved one!

This is a very beautiful facility. They are refurbishing one of the buildings currently. The only thing I did not like is as they are remodeling, the assisted living residents are mixed with the dementia care residents. Unfortunately, I did not go with facility because their prices are a lot higher than other facilities. Also, it is a smaller community with fewer people. I would recommend this facility if you are needing dementia care.

The quality of the caregivers seemed great. The shared space was really small however, that may be good for some people who don't have a lot of company. Overall this was a great place.

They treat my mother in law like she is one of their Grandparents. We never have to worry, and we are welcome any time day or night. It never smells like many we visited, and the rooms are decorated however the resident wants to decorate. They can make it their own

I didn't have any concerns with their care. They are an amazing facility. They did a wonderful job. They did everything they could to make my loved one's last days as comfortable as possible. I am very happy with the care that they showed.

I think the day to day staff is extremely friendly, they are happy to be there. They are very quick to respond to issues, the director is really good about that. Because of the type of facility it is, and the residents that they have, I think the activity level is appropriate. The residents are gotten up, and dressed, and treated a lot like how they would treat their own family. I see that the hospice people are more involved with the residents than the staff is. It's helpful to really understand what everything means, who does what, and who is in charge, what hospice is allowed to do, those kinds of things. The director is very hands on and involved. I liked the size of the community. The resident to staff ratio is really good. Mon-Fri, they have 2-3 people plus a full time cook, my concern is that they don't have enough people at night for my loved one. They encourage you to bring things from home that aren't breakable and really incorporate the things you are familiar with into the home.

We are pleased with every thing. The staff is always attentive and I just can't say enough about them. Always ready to listen to what you want done for your family member. We are there almost everyday. So much better than a nursing home with so much more attention. That is it. We love the place and are so lucky to have found it. The Paulsens

29 March 2013. A fine place if my Dad was immobile or very limited mobility. I'm not sure I understand why the external doors were not locked as a resident could very easily get lost in the dense brush/cedar immediately surrounding this private home. A quiet place to die. Very high resident to staff ratio, no formal schedule of activities, limited quality interaction with residents. But staff appear to care about the residents and want to provide a peaceful experience. No on-site nurse, far from regional or full-service hospitals. I'm looking for more energy, activities, and programmed staff interaction throughout each day.

Response from Riva Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care Center
May 23, 2013You are correct, we are not the right place for everyone. We tend to provide more personal care to those with limited abilities than those who are looking for large group activities. As we do not accept residents who wander, there is no need for a secure building. Our staff ratio is 1 staff member to every 6 residents, a good number I think. Our location is 7 miles from the nearest hospital, which we rarely use due to the population we serve. I hope you found the right place for your loved one. Thank you!
