I met [name removed], Assistant Manager at the Austell Parkland Manor building for a tour and immediately felt WELCOME and at home. She was professional, friendly, caring and thorough. Unfortunately I later made the decision not to move because of a family member’s health. I reached out to let [name removed] know the change I needed to make and she was very understanding. [name removed] demeanor and EXCELLENT customer service made me decide that if anything changed for me in the future, Parkland Manor would be the first place I would look! Thank you again [name removed] for being a thoughtful Assistant Manager even to a stranger, I truly appreciate you!

It is a good facility, and I would recommend this community to others. The rooms are very nice, and I have a 2 bedroom apt. The grounds are great and clean and we have an area outside to enjoy.

My experience is via my sister who has been a resident for 3 years. The staff is ok, but not as friendly as I would have expected from a place that has seniors. The cell service is really bad because they are behind a hill. So, you really need to keep a land line. Paying rent is online only, which is really hard for a senior with out a computer. You are forced to go to the Walmart and pay via direct cash transfer. The greatest asset has been the activities and the onsite beauty shop. I can recommend these apartments, but know the staff is not as friendly as they could be and their is really no care services. It is truly for someone who can live on their own, with out assistance.

My mother-in-law has just moved in but loves her new home! She enjoyed the daily activities and meeting the other residents. I like her place because I know she is safe and happy here.

The assistant manager at Parkland Manor was just as sweet as she could be. She was very helpful. My mother was very very pleased. We are getting a fantastic value here. The only issue we have had is mom was told that she could make the apartment her own so she switched the light fixtures out for more modern ones. Later we found out that is was not something that was okay to do and the manager treated mom as if she wasn't in her right mind on this matter. So this was a little upsetting. The activities here are excellent, they play phase on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is a potluck and breakfasts. They are pet friendly at this facility too! Overall I am happy with things here just a few bumps in the road.

They are doing a good job so far. I'm pretty happy with them. There have been a few minor things here and there. It's clean, and the staff is pretty friendly. I would give them a four sometimes.

When my neighbors (Who had also found this horrible place through "A Place for Mom") left this place 3 MONTHS BEFORE our one year leases were up..WE WERE ALL SUICIDAL! Seriously. I have NEVER seen a place run so badLY! One housekeeper, one maintenance guy for hundreds of apartments. Back in November of 2012, Parkland Manor changed ownership...and the bottom line was MAKE MONEY! Carpets were filthy. Walls dirty. They had people in wheelchairs on the second floor! If there had been a fire she would NOT have been able to get out. Miss Barnswell, one of the incompetent brainless managers decided to name a team captain to each floor. These people were supposed to get people out! She's asking 75 y/o ladies to make sure people get out? People in wheelchairs, schizophrenics, Alzheimer's and so on? I told our floor captain to get the hell out. It was up to the Fire Department to rescue people! The doors need to be opened by a key fob. People in wheelchairs had to put the fob next to a door, then try to open these heavy wooden doors to get in! THERE WERE NO HANDICAPPED ENTRANCES! No one in a wheelchair or walker should be in this place. But the management did nothing because they wanted the rent. Every other 55 plus housing had a LONG waiting list...Parkland couldn't get people to move in. It got a TERRIBLE reputation. My lawyer wanted me to go on local TV about this place. BTW in the contract you sign you can get IMMEDIATELY EVICTED for posting anything negative on their website. we were FORBIDDEN to pass around any petitions. I have NEVER talked to such unhappy people who are forced to live in Parkland as they have no money to move out! We were treated like children. Every day there was a NEW letter on our door.. Don't do this, Don't do that! If you honk your car horn--IMMEDIATE EVICTION! They made up stuff every day! We would try to bring up problems in the monthly meetings and were told "You can't bring up anything! WE control this meeting." We were told we had Directv with high def and DVR. They lied to us. Place wasn't upgraded for either DVR or HD! It is an unsafe place. They have a 90 year old resident walking the halls looking for "problems." Cars were broken into and guns taken. Pit bulls from an adjacent neighborhood swarmed through the parking lots. I found water moccasins (SNAKES) out by the dumpster and was told..."Yeah they like the water!" Nothing was done to put snake repellant down. Two dozen of the residents were from Marietta Housing and were moved to Parkland while Marietta Housing was being renovated. As soon as they could they were GONE. The staff had a few "favorites" who gossiped and spread rumors. I was accused of breaking fire doors, assaulting a staff member...others had similar problems with staff. There was nothing to do...no arts, crafts, no get togethers. By the end of my stay the staff was renting out the dining area for private parties and probably making A LOT of money. They brought in gold and jewelry buyers. I had to hire a lawyer for $2,000 to get them off my back as they were saying that I had violated all 13 pages of the contract. Miss Barnswell accused me of stealing the washer and dryer. They have residents who SHOULD be in assisted living. One very old lady put candles in her apartment at Christmas time, her robe caught on fire and she got third degree burns and had to be life-flighted out. They have "Life Alert" phones BUT THEY DON'T WORK UNLESS YOU HAVE A LAND LINE..MISS BARNSWELL DIDN'T KNOW HOW THEY WORKED. The security is lax. There were always strangers in the halls at 4 am! This place should NOT be on any list for seniors!!!

This one seems easier to get to off east-west connector. No step or ramps, includes utilites and comes with washer and dryer free of charge. Unit looks clean and open. Concern would be how Mom would get from appartment to communitie area without using a scooter or wheelchair on her own.
