So far my experience with Orangeburg has really been great. The people working there are friendly, helpful and really in tune with the patients. I’ve spent a lot of time there these first few months and love my husband being there. The activities they provide are fun and they are great at getting everyone involved. I like the way it is setup with the day room and dinning. Also the big patio with lots of room for walking. I would highly recommended this facility.... Read more

Response from Orangeburg Memory Care
November 13, 2024Thank you for your kind feedback and recommendation for Orangeburg Memory Care, Leslie Ann! We're glad to know that your family is happy with so many aspects of our community. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help you or your loved ones.
When I was considering Orangeburg, [name removed], the director, called me to see if I had any questions. She was so sensitive and was a gentle shoulder to cry on. The next day, she and the staff nurse, [name removed], drove an hour and a half to my home to do an assessment of my hisband and to tell me more about Orangeburg. I knew right then I was going to pick Orangeburg and I cancelled the other appointment. I find the place to be clean and professional. The food is healthy. It is a small place which is great for my husband . Total lock down security. Since I am 1-1/2 hours away, I have been able to call [name removed] or [name removed]or any of the wonderful Med Techs to find out how my husband is doing or to even chat with him. [name removed], the nurse, was kind enough to take him to an appointment with his new PCP. I really love the staff, so personable, kind and caring. I highly recommend Orangeburg to anyone who needs to have care for their loved one.

They are like family. They care for my dad like he's their family. They also treat me like I'm family. I love each and every one of them. Rooms are awesome size. It looks like a little boutique hotel.

This home has a good feel to it. The staff are generally happy and were very attentive for my father. The place was always clean, never had a bad smell, and felt comfortable. Every time I entered I was greated by the staff and it was easy to get an update on how my dad was doing that day. I felt like my dad was well cared for and safe. I appreciated seeing minimal turnover in staff during the period my dad was there. The consistency of care with the same staff was very important to me. Overall, this is a great place.

We have had a good experience with the community. Everyone has been very helpful with this difficult transition for my father in law and our family. The staff are very patient and kind to the residents and treat each and every one with dignity and respect. We chose Orangeburg Memory Care first and foremost because of the above mentioned. Also, the facility is very nice and clean but not too formal, the location is great and the cost is reasonable and fair for the care my father in law receives.

Our family had an in person tour with Orangeburg Memory care and Orangeburg gave us a good feeling and was more affordable than Stratford. Same problem with "Need/care" differences.
We picked this community, because I only had 1 day to get her moved somewhere else, I had no choice but to go with the first who'd accept her, sight unseen. The girls on the floor are great. Upper management stinks. They'll raise your price in two months, so it's a great place for mom to go broke at.

All of the staff are very friendly and attentive. I didn’t feel, however, that the staff integrated my family member into the community very well. I felt a little more attention could have been given to her to help her understand how she could thrive in the community. The facility is kept in excellent condition. The staff was unobtrusive when cleaning and sensitive to resident privacy. Communication with the family is an area in which Orangeburg could improve. While everyone was responsive to questions, I felt they could have been more proactive in communicating with me about my family member's health. Also, change the menu at once! I didn’t feel the food options at Orangeburg were appealing in quality or presentation. The food was extremely basic, without much flavor, and cheap. Though the staff encouraged my family member to eat, it didn’t occur to them to ask her what she would eat when she stopped eating. And, to be fair, I didn’t pick up on that until a month after she arrived. Once I bought food she would eat, she started eating a little better. Overall, even with the areas in which I feel they need improvement, I would recommend Orangeburg to anyone seeking Memory Care.

They communicate well with families on updates they have about your loved ones. For the most part we have had a very good experience. They try to accommodate when your loved one is not comfortable with a roommate or the situation. I would absolutely 100% recommend Orangeburg Memory Care.

Orangeburg didn't have availability when we needed it. But the person who helped us on the tour was very friendly and very sweet. They were in the middle of renovations at the time, which made it hard to picture how it would turn out.
The staff here are very caring and very responsive. My grandmother can be picky but they never fail to accommodate her desires with a smile. Very happy with this facility's level of care and respect for the residents.

They have accommodated my aunt in every way possible. She is eating better than she has in the last 2 years. She is very happy there. If I could rate the staff a 10+ I would.

I couldn't imagine a better place for my Aunt. After coming from the hospital and needing 24/7 care assisted living was suggested. I researched and visited multiple facilities and once I visited Orangeburg Manor and met the director, Marion, I knew this was the place for her! When my aunt arrived on her first day, the staff was amazing! Everyone came and introduced themselves to her and since then my Aunt has thanked me often and told me how happy she is at Orangeburg Manor!

Orangeburg Manor is a good community overall. My mother is in this community and seems to be enjoying herself. She states that the food is good and the dining staff is well staffed and organized. The staff is very friendly and the ratio of staff to resident seems to be good. They do have call lights in the rooms to promote safety and security. They could do better as far as the activities available to residents. I have not heard of any outings or trips for the residents.

They have really been very good with my mother, and very patient with her. She has fallen several times, and I always get a prompt phone call letting me know so I can go in and check on her. So far I have no complaints. The only thing that could be better is if they had more activities. It would be good if they had a table set up to do jigsaw puzzles and a few other things. They do play cards and bingo, but that is about it.

A Place for Mom has scored Orangeburg Memory Care 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
