Good Place

It's a beautiful place, the staff are great, mom is very happy there, mom is checked out weekly by Nurse Practioners. I would recommend family to visit loved ones often. There is a high staff turnover, so check on loved one to see if care is maintained between staff.

Our family had an in person tour and Oakmont is a beautiful facility, we had no complaints with anything we saw on the tour. The were were great and super information. You could tell they really new how to showcase their place and dive in deep to everything they have to offer. Great from a management and sales point of view. However it was just to expensive for us.

A Good Option

I think if you can afford to be here, it's a good place. I felt like there were great opportunities for my parents. It just wasn't a good fit, and it had my dad worried about the price. There was a change in staff, which made things very different administratively than when they first moved in, although the day-to-day stayed relatively the same. We did have to get to know a new reception staff though. Also getting responses to things that needed to be fixed in the apartment took a long time. I thought the food was good, but my dad said there were some inconsistency issues. I thought they offered a lot of great activities.

Community Tour

We had a nice tour at Oakmont of Whittier. What a beautiful place! It was just so much more expensive. If you had unlimited funds, this would definitely be a place you would want to go.

Oakmont is NOT what they Advertise!

Oakmont Whittier is a beautiful façade that covers a world of incompetence. Aside from wonderful and loving frontline care givers and meal servers, Oakmont looks like a 10 in the brochure and slick sales presentation, but is a Zero in walking their talk. My sister and I were looking for a transition facility for our Mom for a period of 30-days from a skilled nursing center so she could rebuild her strength before returning home. She required assistance in getting to meals and events, which the floor caregivers provided. She required shower monitoring, which these same caregivers provided, but with a maximum of 2 showers a week. But the main concern we had was medicine management. Daily calls did nothing but remind this incompetent staff to do this job, and on day 6 my sister switched Mom to dispensing her own meds. Food too rich for seniors, accounting is a total nightmare! Directors don't return calls or emails. Go Anywhere Else and save your money!

Response from Oakmont of Whittier

October 22, 2021

Dear Jim, We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to address your concerns. We are so glad you are satisfied with the services our caregivers provided to your mom. We agree with you that they truly are wonderful and loving. We do recognize that living in a congregate setting is a big adjustment for most people and that routines, schedules and preferences need to be worked through. In regards to our food, we have not been made aware of any flavor or seasoning issues, and have certainly never witnessed our residents dipping their meat in their water glasses. We will be sure to solicit resident feedback immediately and make adjustments as necessary. I’d also like to publicly address your claim that a resident with Covid wandered the halls. This is untrue as the resident in question tested negative. We take our residents health very seriously and would not allow this to happen. We do agree that we had a business office director in training at the time that your mother moved out and her refund was not processed properly. We thank you for your patience as we worked through that process and are glad we were able to resolve the issue. Again, we appreciate your feedback and I invite you to contact me directly if you have anything additional to share. I can be reached at ken.garnett@oakmontmg.com Sincerely, Ken Garnett VP of Operations

Lovely place

It is a clean, bright and airy. With gardens to sit and visit. The facility is safe and during these challenging times of COVID-19. They are very diligent with keeping the residents safe. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and courteous. If I could I would give it a six star rating. I researched about 20 places. Finally deciding on Oakmont of Whittier. My Aunt feels safe and comfortable. She enjoys interacting with the staff and meeting new people.

This seemed like a nice clean community when I visited. The people I met were nice. This community allows pets and they offer daily activities. This community was just a little out of our budget.

A Pleasant Tour

This is a beautiful community, I really enjoyed my tour of this facility. I would've moved my mother into this community, but they didn't have any room at this time. The staff was nice and very informative. It was a pleasant tour. Everything went very well.

Moms voice

Good morning , Well it has only been in operation for a year. My mom has been there two months . Overall she is content but some issues have not been resolved . Example she would like larger portions of food her salads which are forgotten at times . The residents do not get enough fruits and vegetables. The care givers do try very hard in taking care of her needs. It is a very clean and new place . I would like her to get more involved with activities . She enjoyed a day ride they took them out. Don't know if she has done it again. Since I live in Idaho I'm not sure what all goes on there.( calif ) , just her feedback . She loves her salon days and craft days . My special thanks to each and every employee at the facility . Idaho

The Oakmont of Whittier is superb!

We were looking for an assisted living environment for our 55 year old Downs Syndrome (high functioning) sister. After their interview and assessment, they allowed her to move in for a 30 day evaluation period. Our sister passed the 30 day period with flying colors and she happily became a resident of the Oakmont. It is a beautiful environment with a very caring staff, plus a wonderful dining room and state of the art movie theater. Their executive director and marketing director became personally involved overseeing our sister's care! We can't say enough nice things about the Oakmont of Whittier and their five-star staff!

Fantastic meal schedule

I only toured this facility and it was very impressive. It is expensive but like they say you get what you pay for. I love the fact that they serve food in the dining room ALL day. So if you are a late sleeper or you were napping you still will be able to eat. This is the only facility I have toured that has this feature which I think is awesome. Especially since my dad loses track of time and has missed a meal or two where he currently is. They have a waiting list and this facility is one of my top choices at this time.

Oakmont has been pretty good.

Oakmont has been pretty good. It is rather expensive, so I am hoping they are able to help with the insurance, or we won't be able to stay. It's a very good place, it was the best of the places I saw. There were a couple of other good ones, but they were even more expensive, and further away.
