Please do not consider this facility if your love ones cannot assist in taking care of themselves. If they need assistance in feeding themselves, bathing, putting clothes on or off, we discovered that most of the staff was not caring enough to reassure the family that they could/would keep our Mom safe or comfortable. The night shift was terrible; they were rude, condescending, and dismissive; and they were not held accountable when issues were brought to the attention of the managers. The managers were dismissive when we brought issues to their attention, and did not follow their own directives in notifying the family of falls or other medical issues. Their initial presentation to family to consider their facility was wonderful; but please don't believe that they can deliver. We are devastated that we considered and decided on this facility.

March 5, 2020We deeply apologize for the lost opportunity to know you and serve you well. Our leading priority with all new residents is to make the settling in pleasant and smooth. The brevity of your loved one’s stay did not permit us the time to deliver on our promises, and work through your concerns in this period of adjustment. Our Executive Director, Tracie Roberts, wants to understand your experience better. Please call her for a conversation on how we can serve in your father’s success.
My parent has been here in memory care for years and the care levels are very inconsistent with a high turnover of staffing at all levels. Often when I visit they are understaffed and the care managers who do bother to show up are bitter and stressed. It’s common for staff to be working doubles. The basic issue is that the memory care unit is too big, with many of the residents needing a high level of care and they are not able to address this, yet they keep accepting new residents. I would not recommend this place for memory care, go somewhere with less residents. There are some much better options in the area with better reputations.

February 13, 2020We thank you for your candor as we are diligently seeking to meet and exceed expectations in our service to seniors. We can proudly attest that our staff levels and staff training are fully compliant with state regulations and MorningStar’s own high standards. The team attitudes you describe are diametrically opposed to the culture we work so hard to shape. As a current family member, please come to our Executive Director Tracie Roberts or Reflections Coordinator Harriett Pea that we might have an opportunity to correct any shortcomings you see in our tender service to the memory-impaired.
My mother has been residing at Morningstar Boulder since May of 2019. My mom truly enjoys living there - she loves her apartment, the activities, and appreciates the attentive and caring staff. My family members also appreciate the compassionate attentive staff and the clean and airy environment. Note. I’ve read the negative reviews on this platform. It’s hard to believe these folks are talking about Morningstar Boulder. Never, have we mislead or experienced anything as horrible they explained. Thank you, Morningstar staff for all you do.

December 3, 2019How wonderful to hear such words of affirmation. Our great thanks for taking the time to pen your heart-warming experience at MorningStar.
Our mother was at Morning Star, Boulder Co. for 7 weeks and it was the WORSE experience for not only her, but for the entire family. The care is SUBSTANDARD!!!! The Director and Nurse both lied to me about our mother's physical condition, not only once but twice. I witnessed many many times when NO ONE was around for an entire hour... the poor residents (memory care) were left helpless. It was heartbreaking to watch. They NEVER bathed her... We had secured another facility to move her into but she passed before we could move her. We truly believe this horrible place contributed to our mother's death. NEVER NEVER put someone you love in this awful, shameful place!!!!!

October 11, 2019We offer our condolences for the loss of your mother. MorningStar is committed to providing quality care and services to our residents. We would like the opportunity to learn more and discuss any concerns you may have, and hope you will reach out to the Regional VP of Operations in our home office at [removed]
We removed our mother from MorningStar after three months. The administration was disgraceful and incompetent, setting the tone in creating a money grubbing, deceitful place that was constantly short staffed. It was obscene when they cloaked themselves in piety, saying they served God and put seniors first. Please look beyond the dry-dock cruise ship look and realize its the Titanic. Find a smaller, homey place, with attentive staff--seriously--who cares about the fancy counter tops, when no one shows up to take your Mom to dinner or snaps at them during a shower they're being rushed through with no dignity. We found a place that is in a house with four other residents, run by a woman who has a Masters in gerontology. There are two live-in care givers and two that come in during the day. They have chickens for fresh eggs, an herb garden, flowers everywhere, two beautiful living rooms, and my mom has her own room and bath room. There is laughter, spontaneity and kindness. My mom said she feels like she's finally "home." We finally sleep at night.

October 11, 2019We are so pleased to hear your family has found a wonderful group home for your mother. She was happy in our community, but we certainly understand that each family has particular designs on what is best for all concerned. MorningStar wishes you every happiness.
Horrendous experience. We moved our mother out of the Boulder MorningStar after three months. They lied about pricing, overcharged us, and the executive director is incompetent. This is nothing compared to the substandard care our mother received, including emergency call buttons that went unanswered for twenty minutes at a time—once I had to use my cell phone and call the reception desk and tell them my mom had hit her emergency pendant and wall button and no one was coming after 22 minutes!!, bathing our mom with filthy washcloths, not ensuring our mother went to meals, and not following doctor’s instructions, even after my husband who’s a surgeon explained the danger to them of not following instructions. It was beyond stressful every night wondering if our mom was okay there. They were so understaffed—and knew it. The caregivers were nice, but so over worked; they would always apologize to us and tell us to beg the administration to hire more people. Other residents told our mom they were unhappy there as well. Incredible for a place that charges thousands of dollars a month and calls itself a place that serves God and respects seniors. We feel violated and I feel a moral obligation to post this review wherever I can.

June 28, 2019Thank you for the honest feedback. We sincerely apologize for falling short of your expectations. Please call our Home Office that we might work together to resolve your concerns.
The nursing staff at MorningStar tries to do a great job. However management seems unwilling or unable to correct serious deficiencies at the community. The quality of the food is absurd. The residents continually complain but the quality just gets worse. They advertise an "Executive Chef" experience, which is a complete lie. They are consistently short staffed and simply do not provide a service commensurate with what they collect in rent and fees. The weekly laundry and cleaning service is consistently running days late. I would not recommend this community under any circumstance. If you were to seriously consider this community, I would personally ask numerous residents what they think, especially about the food before moving yourself or loved one here.

The tour was really good, seeing a nice community and the atmosphere. My intake to what was being told to me, was not the same as what I was seeing in the Memory Care. They didn't do a lot with the residents. I saw some sitting in front of the television. Not much activities or stimulation. They were professional.
