MorningStar is a beautiful facility with a capable and responsive staff. The memory care (called the "Reflections Community") rooms are extremely nice compared to those I saw in other facilities. Everything is modern and there is a lot of natural light because of the large windows. Each room has its own full-size refrigerator with a freezer, which is very convenient and helpful. The food is very good with a nice variety, and residents can choose from the menu ahead of time if they don't like the regularly offered meals for the day. Memory care residents would benefit with more help in selecting a menu for the day, and from a slightly revised process for "opting out" of the regular meals and choosing their food for the day. The move in process was good, but it could have been improved with a more robust orientation process and a dedicated staff person that would touch base regularly with the resident and family throughout the first two weeks. Resident care has been very good, but some things (i.e., showers) haven't always taken place on the assigned days because of staffing or other issues. That being said, memory care residents are a particularly challenging population, and I have been impressed with the caring staff and the overall environment of the "Reflections Community" at MorningStar, which after two months still feels very welcoming and friendly. I am grateful that my dad has such a safe and comfortable place to live at MorningStar. I would definitely recommend MorningStar at Laurelhurst.... Read more

My MIL was looking for a new community, and we were trying to move her closer to us but she changed her mind because her current community has a large gated dog run. It was great!

A Place for Mom has scored MorningStar at Laurelhurst 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
