My wife Sherry and I have lived at Monarch Landing for six years, and we love the place! It's not just the wonderful facilities and beautiful places, but also the great activities for relaxation, friendships and much more. (think: regular concerts, religious services, celebration of holidays, a wonderful pool and fitness center, yoga classes, jazzercise and aquacise, balance and strength building classes, all sorts of clubs, etc...) It's all about the great staff (The most helpful and friendly we've ever met), support, emergency services so freely and quickly available. The beautiful Millstone restaurant and the casual, airy RIverwalk cafe provide excellent food as well as great places to bring family and friends. We are proud to have visitors! Sherry and I greatly enjoy the wonderful landscaping and year-round gardens, and we spend hours each week enjoying the shady and flowery courtyard, which is a great place for concerts and parties. I could go on and on, but it's time for me to... Read more

Response from Monarch Landing
June 27, 2024John, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at Monarch Landing! We're glad to hear we delivered such a great experience. If there's anything further we can do for you, we are happy to help!
After thinking about moving to an independent living complex for a few years, my son and I decided to explore the market to see if there was a fit. We visited 8 different places with definite criteria and Monarch Landing fit the "bill". The apartments were well designed with modern new appliances, the activities were many that I would enjoy, the people were friendly, food was good, and costs were within reason for what was being purchased. With a lot of discussion and thought, my mind was made up! I am moving to Monarch Landing which I did 3 months later. Staff was very helpful with moving arrangements to start my new life.

June 27, 2024Hi Roberta, thank you so much for your positive comments about Monarch Landing! Our team strives to deliver an excellent experience, and are glad you found this to be the case during your time with us. If you have further needs or questions, please reach out!
ML’s selling point is that there’ll never be a reason for you to have to move out. Not true! Once my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and there was no care in place for her due to a 22+ resident waiting list at The Springs, she was forced to move into a new community. ML charged a penalty fee of 3 months rent. The value of her apartment had increased considerably since she moved in during the recession so they were making a lot more money by her leaving and still they refused to waive the penalty fee. I asked the ED to explain how they could justify doing so, and to specifically state what alternatives of care they would have made available to her while she waited a year or more to get into the on-site memory care. I’ve been waiting for a response since [date removed]. ML also tried 3x to charge us [fee removed] to replace my mother’s carpet and paint her apt when she was on the plan to have it all paid for by ML that same year. Profits over resident care.

Response from Monarch Landing
June 6, 2024Your mother was a well-loved, and respected resident of our community for years. We are truly heartbroken that your family did not meet with us to assist in a unified decision that would have enabled your mother to continue her residency at Monarch Landing. I would again like to extend another invitation to meet in person with myself, Executive Director-Mark Trnka, or by phone, so we can discuss this in further detail. We regret you feel this way about the community, and there are inaccuracies in your review that I would like to discuss. Your mother enjoyed many years here. She led and was engaged in many activities and groups that helped build a great community. I'm hopeful you will contact me to schedule a visit. I can be reached at 630.300.1122.
Moving to Monarch Landing was a hard decision for me but a GREAT decision. People need to make this decision while it is their choice. Here I do not worry about snow on my driveway or weeds in my yard. I do not have to cook and there is always something to do and new friends to do it with. When I was looking for a place I decided what was important to me and Monarch has a pool, bridge, activities, trips, and I don't have to even change a light bulb. I made a great choice coming here.

April 12, 2024We appreciate your positive review about your recent experience with us! We always strive to provide top quality service to every guest, and are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience here at Monarch Landing!
My parents moved to Monarch Landing in [date removed]. And, it was a blessed foresight as we lost my dad in [date removed]. I don’t have to worry about my mom living alone. She has so many amenities, neighbors and staff to answer to her every need ... from a salon to restaurant style eating facilities right onsite. When she needed physical therapy, they were onsite either to come directly to her or for her to go downstairs to a workout room. Monarch Landing is the answer to the question of where would you want your parents to live out their golden years.

Response from Monarch Landing
September 14, 2022Hi Cynthia, thank you so much for your positive comments about Monarch Landing! We appreciate you taking the time to share.
My husband and I have lived at Monarch Landing for 3½ years and are very, very happy that we moved here. Yes, it has many amenities, a large selection of apartments that you can personalize, a friendly staff, and loads of things to do (active and not-so-active). So, what makes us different from other independent living communities in the area? Super-friendly residents. We have made many more friends here in over 3 years than we have in 40+ years living in Naperville. Join a club, committee or simply have dinner with someone, and you’ll have a friend. Walk down the hallway and everyone says, “Good morning” or “Hi! How are you?” Many say that they chose to live at Monarch Landing after looking at other facilities simply because this was the place with the friendliest residents. Don't wait to move here until you “need” the advantages of living here. If you do, you’ll miss out on so much. I am convinced that living here with all our friends will extend our lifespans.

A Place for Mom has scored Monarch Landing 7.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
