One time I called to see how my mom was doing and the person hung up on me and she said that there was no one by that name, unless her niece must of told them not to tell me if my mom was doing ok or not. I don't think it was fair

Was visiting a family member on the 2nd floor and the nurse [name removed] was asked about my mom and she stated for us to go to desk and ask secretary. When we did the secretary stated that any medical information will need to be given by nurse. When I went back to nurse [name removed] she stated she can't talk to me now due to she was busy. When I walked away, I noticed she was showing pictures on her cellphone to another coworker and talking about wedding. I was there for about an hour and after I was about to leave I asked her if she was free to talk about my mother. She stated she was busy and to talk to Unit Manager about any concerns about her mom.

I was there to visit a family member in the long term and noticed my family was filled with feces. I went to the nurse station and spoke with a nurse by the name of [name removed] who said "OK I will get someone to take care of patient. After waiting for almost 15 minutes, I went back to nurses station and the same nurse was on he cellphone and when I asked will it be longer for someone to change her, she stated I will get someone. When I walked away, she made a remark "Thank god I am not a CNA anymore". After 20 minutes she got changed. The CNA was very nice and stated i am sorry I am not your mom aide but she came in and help her out. i hope someone will look into this.

I was at Meridian for 21 days, during that time there were only two things that were good. The pt/ot's and the food. The rooms were filthy, never cleaned. The nurses with the exception of 2 were horrible. They would not give me my meds on time or THEY would decide if I needed a breathing treatment even though I said I needed one. Because of that I got royally sick. They gave me incorrect meds and just told me to take them. B4 my pt I was suppose to get my pain meds as I had MAJOR surgery. I would have to beg them. The PT doctor talked down to me. They were only interested in keeping everything in the Meridian system. The cna's complained or nasty. This place was a nightmare! They said I was too nervous and complained about me to a visitor of mine. This place was the WORST PLACE IN NEW JERSEY! Keep your loved ones away from here. They DO NOT CARE about the patients, they cover mistakes, would not communicate with me. Would tell me that they would get back to me and never did and that went all the way up to the director. Please stay away from this place. Especially if you have elderly loved ones that cannot see or understand their meds, etc. GO TO [removed] INSTEAD.

PLEASE, Please do not put your loved-one in this place. My mom went here to rehab from a broken patella. Within less than ten days she developed a c dif infection and pneumonia. You are not allowed to be treated by your own doctor and the in-house "doctor" prescribed oral antibiotics despite the fact that she could not keep them down. Long story short, she spent a month in CCU and passed away last month. Despite using the Meridian name, they do not share any services with the hospital. My mom has to wait for prescriptions to come from Linden, despite the fact that the hospital has a pharmacy and is about 100 feet away. Anyone considering a nursing home for their loved-one should become fully informed on c diff infections and institutional pneumonia, which are pervasive in many such facilities.

This is over by Ocean Medical. The care seems to be good and the room is a fairly good size. The therapy seems to be good but the food is just okay.

A Place for Mom has scored Meridian Nursing & Rehab-Brick 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
