My dad was brought there by [name removed] due to a broken hip. The nurses are terrible, never acknowledged you, grunted when you said anything to them. Never asked if we needed anything. One day it took 2 hours to get pain medication. You had to ask for everything. The nurse from the State was there one day and I asked her if the patients get showers and she said yes, twice a week. I told her that my dad has been here for two weeks and two days with no shower. She went to the nurses station and told them to schedule my dad for a shower. They came at 9:00 p.m. that night, but of course he was sleeping and they told us the next day that he did not want a shower. The whole time he was there, 22 days, he had two so called showers. The food was cold every time. Never had a choice to order what he wanted to eat. They never offered to heat it up. So my brother and I brought him food. The best is when an employee came into my dad's room and asked us for money. Terrible!! All bad!!

WAITED OVER 3 HOURS FOR A NURSE TO CHECK MY FAMILY MEMBER IN. THEN NURSE AND STAFF WERE UPSET ABOUT ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS. THEN ADMINISTRATOR WOULD NOT ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS AND CUT OFF ACCESS TO HER. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PLACE, FOOLS YOU WITH THE PRETTY BUILDING.

I went there as I had cervical spine surgery. The food is terrible. Yes, it is for sure cold when you get it. I did not like anything hey had so I would not eat for days! I learned you could order a grilled cheese sandwich. However, what It was soaked in butter and was unedible! Lost 15 pounds!!!! The nursing staff are very bad. you wait forever to get your meds. The CNA's sit at the front desk and chat all day. They do not answer call lights in over an hour!!! I was supposed to be straight catheterized 6 times a day. When I had only been catheterized 1 time in a day I asked a nurse to do it. She said NOT ON MY SHIFT!!! I was just about to call the department of health. I heard they were just called in there to investigate problems. I guess nothing was done!!! I was the youngest patient there. I could speak up. If you have an elderly patient there you need to be there all day. Looks are deceiving!! It may look nice but the actual care is far from nice!!!

I was at Meadowbrook for rehab after surgery on a broken tibia) The place looks nice and is clean but the nursing care is terrible. I would put on my call light on and wait for twenty minutes only to have someone to come in, turn off the light and say: "Be right back" and then disappear for another twenty minutes. . Some of the CNA's were quite rude--no respect for older people-- and acted like they were put out by having to help me. I was non-ambulatory and could not put weight on my injured leg. I do have to say that the male CNA"s were nicer than some of the women CNA's Food was not bad although it was often cold when it came. I don't know if the trays were held up in the kitchen or when they got to the floor. The nurses were ok but would not change diapers or clean up patients. They would say "Wait for your CNA." Physical therapy and activities people were great. The activities staff was friendly and planned fun things for us to do.

My mother was in there for rehab and the first week seemed ok... Then everything turned for the worse. She was about to be released and they said that they will keep her for one more week for more therapy. After that her care went down hill. She ended up getting a stomach flu that they neglected. She had the flu for about a week and within that week they took 45 minutes to assist her with anything. This flu got her weaker and weaker and finally we told them she needs to go to the hospital. Come to find out that she was severely dehydrated and in pain from being left in her fecal matter for more than 45 minutes. Even the ambulance driver asked my mom how the care was because he has heard bad reviews about this place. . Once my mom was in the hospital we made damn sure that she was not going to be sent back to this place. We are so happy to be getting her in to another rehab that takes cares of their patients and doesn't neglect them. PLEASE THINK TWICE IN COSIDERING THIS PLACE

A place for Mom contacted me the first week of my Mom’s stay at Meadowbrook and I gave them 5 stars across the board, BUT.... I wish there was a rating for PT/OT/Speech and a separate rating for Meadowbrook itself. [Names removed] were a 5++++++++ in PT/OT/Speech. They were very attentive and caring to my Mom and worked hard to get her back to herself before her UTI, etc. Meadowbrook is a lovely, new facility and the week day staff is very good and pretty attentive. On the other hand, the weekend staff is -0000000. They did not get my Mom out of bed on the weekend unless I was physically there to make them. They would state that “Mom said she did not want to get up” Are you kidding me... I called the office many Monday mornings with no change. I put up a sign behind he bed asking them to get her up in the morning and make sure she goes to the dining room for lunch. Unless I came at lunchtime, it did not happen. Just know what you are getting into. If your loved love can get around ok on their own then you will be fine otherwise be prepared to spend a few hours a day there on the weekends.

One thing I appreciate is the fact that they are calling me. I like very much that the person from social services has called me. She answered a lot of my questions and is very intelligent. She is very polite and just a sweet person. I called the front desk, they were nice and polite. The assistant administrator was very nice. He answered all my questions and concerns. He took his time and didn't seem impatient. They are very pleasant and very patient with me. They are just very helpful to the full extent. The communication is wonderful. They call me all the time. I wish he could live there.

There are a few people that go over and beyond. The people in the front are always helpful and friendly. The nurses at the unit don't look at you or make eye contact you will have to engage with them first for them to say hi to you. The first week was rough and repetitive. The entrance is very beautiful and clean. Great presentation. No trash around.

A Place for Mom has scored Meadowbrook LaGrange 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
