Activities have been great and the experience has been positive. There is an overall homeliness and clean atmosphere to take in. Staffing can be an issue especially in the kitchen but typically there are good people helping the residents. So happy to have the activities director back as she was able to get the Huskers and the Supernovas in to interact with the residents. Kudos to her!... Read more

The marketing director was very instrumental in the choice to place our long time friend at Marquis Place! She has continued to be a bright spot for us when we visit! Her friendliness and sense of humor is very welcome! I have made friends with several residents in my time at weekly visits to our friend! Marquis place is very clean and there seems to be a wide variety of activities for the residents! Our friend’s adjustment to Marquis Place took longer than we hoped for! We are very happy to see he now has friends and people who worry about him! We were really tickled to hear he had weeded the raised garden beds! It’s not home, but is a safe place for our friend and he has people to talk to daily! That means so much !

Response from Marquis Place
August 15, 2024Thank you for taking the time to give our team a shout out! It is positive feedback, like yours, that keeps us motivated and moving on towards improving our engagement.
My first impression when touring Marquis Place was that it is bright and clean and has friendly staff. The rooms are reasonably sized and the amenities include transportation to doctor appointments and outings. There's also a nice courtyard and front porch. [name removed], the Sales Director, was very personable and helpful right from the beginning and became my "go to" person for a while whenever we had a question or any issue, which happens in the beginning of a new living situation. I also personally saw the kindness of the dining room serving staff when I joined in the Christmas party in December. My not-so-compliant friend, who moved into Marquis in December, has adjusted well now after nine months. And other residents seem happy there which I judge from talking to them weekly when visiting my friend. I do not have experience with other assisted living facilities to make a comparison, but I think that Marquis is a good choice.

August 15, 2024Thank you!! Marquis Place is full of kindness and it literally is in every fiber of our being - we love what we do and feedback like this....keeps us motivated!
My Mom has lived at Marquis Place since November 2022 and we are very happy with the care she receives. She can be very stubborn and is also somewhat antisocial but the staff is great about trying to get her to participate in activities. She is also a very picky eater but since she has choices for meals has not complained. I love that she has options. She is also kind of messy but the housekeeper does a great job of keeping her apartment clean. One other thing that lead us to choose Marquis Place was the size of the community. It is on the smaller side and all on one level. Since my Mom is also visually impaired it made learning her way around much easier. I would not hesitate to recommend Marquis Place!

August 15, 2024Wow! Almost two years! Thank you for choosing us....thank you for trusting us and for the wonderful opportunity to care for your mom
Room size is large compared to other homes. Most staff are genuinely caring for residents. Lots of residents are in beginning stage of dementia. Portions have been smaller which is ok for the most part. More fruit for dessert instead of cakes. Some meals have too many carbs. Lots of pasta in their menus. I like it here. There is a larger % of beginning dementia residents than is good but I think every home is having to go this direction to keep occupancy up. I am in assisted living because of physical problems not mental yet. It's tough to keep your mind when so many are having dementia issues around you. We need good minds to visit with to keep ours healthy

June 12, 2024Thank you for the beautiful review of our community. We will take your feedback and provide to our culinary team, so we can make those recommendations.
The staff is caring and attentive. It is a big relief to have my mom in a place with such a wonderful staff! This includes the management staff. The appear never to be bothered by questions or some very interesting questions from my mom. As far as the food goes , sometimes it is very good! And sometimes mom reports that the meat is tough and inedible.

June 12, 2024We could not agree more about the staff at Marquis Place! They are amazing and so caring and we are blessed to have you calling us home. We will also take your feedback to the culinary team, to meet with mom.
I love it here. Marquis is a wonderful home. I'm very happy here I have just sold my house so this room is my home. Most of the staff are very congenial & ready to help you at any point. We have residents that show beginning stages of dementia but they are transferred as a room becomes available. Rooms were larger for equal prices. Memory Care residents are in separate wing. VERY IMPORTANT!!

November 3, 2023Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us this great review! We truly value your feedback and more importantly, value you as part of our Marquis family!
If a friend asked me, I would say we love it and it's been a great place for her with her needs. My only complaint would be they need to have a bit more security. It's so much different feeling going in over the weekend when most of the staff are not there as opposed to going during a weekday when most of the office staff are there We picked this community because of its size. We liked that it was small and it would be easy for our mother to navigate and get to know people while not being overwhelmed with too many people. We liked the family feel of the smaller community & wonderful staff. I did give the staff rating of four. Some of the staff are amazing and I would give them six others I'm not as fond of. We picked it also, because despite its smaller size, it has good dining, good care, great activities.

5 on all counts, seriously. I looked at 7 locations. We chose Marquis Place because of the openness, warm environment, residents were not medicated but Active with staff....activities, clean.....even around outside trash containers, safe neighborhood, coinvent, easy to get to. Supporting facilities dr. Dentist, hospitals close by. Compared between the last place my loved one was at in Iowa, the staff here are very outgoing. She really likes it here. Especially the outings and activities.

May 23, 2023Donald, thank you very much for this incredible review! We truly value our residents and consider them (and you) a part of our family!
A place where you will pay rent 2 weeks PAST your loved ones date of death. Ask them. It is their policy. Oh, if you don't, they will sue you. A nice place in general but with a high risk that your loved one will be in danger. Several instances on nights and weekends where Dad was suffering and no one came after calls. There is constant staff turnover. Only agency for staffing nearly every weekend and the call light system is none existing. When we had situations that came up, management was slow to unresponsive. if you care about your loved ones, you owe it to them to stay away from here. My Dad died before we could move him out of here. He begged us to make it happen.

The main thing is my loved one is very happy there. A bunch of the staff are leaving, but in spite of that, the care has maintained high standards. I'm sad the ones we've gotten to know are leaving. Activities have much improved. When you walk into the facility, It's a warm atmosphere, with a light and airy feeling. There's also a nice courtyard and front porch.

May 23, 2023Margene, we strive for 100% satisfaction, and it is great to see you had such a positive experience at Marquis Place of Elkhorn.
Definitely one of the worst facilities I’ve been in. Constantly short staffed. One employee for 9+ residents. Memory care residents left soiled sitting around the TV for hours on weekends. Only agency for staffing every weekend no reports are given, the call light system is none existing and management is unresponsive. Several staff were working back to back doubles over 16 hrs so they were burnt out and there was nobody else to come in. Everyone who came quickly said they would not be back. The aids are giving shots of insulin untrained because there are no nurses on staff. There was a man who was falling 5-6 times a day he died in his room screaming for help. There are several pts who are dementia pts living in assisted living because they can pay. It’s a sad situation

August 6, 2022We take this sort of allegation very seriously as the safety and well-being of our residents is our top priority. We would like the opportunity to get some more information from you and address your concerns directly. Please reach out to us at (402) 289-9229 when you have a chance. Thank you, Chyna.
Marquis Place is not a good community for couples. There are no other couples here, so we feel like we don't have any other people to relate or talk to. The visiting hours are terrible, they are very limited. The hours are 9am-5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; 9am-730pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 9am-3pm on the weekends. The staff could also use some improvement. They have a lack of staff and the staff who are there need more training. They also serve too much pasta, I wish they had more variety.

June 8, 2022Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. We are disappointed to hear that you are not satisfied with your visit. Please reach out to us at (402) 289-9229 so we may identify ways to improve your experience.
The recruiter was very nice. The rooms are okay. They could be set up a little better to optimize the space. Some of the staff are really good; others are awful. Management is not great - they're kind of lazy. I think they should be more involved. We've had some issues with medications running out. But the small community makes it nice. I go often to visit, and I would definitely recommend that other families do the same, no matter what place you choose, so you can fully know what's going on.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
