It is a beautiful facility and the social worker and aids have all been wonderful. They are very understaffed at the moment, they do not have a director right now and people seem to be up and leaving. Things we were told would happen we really have to fight for. I would tell others you just have to keep up on things and make sure to be an advocate for your loved ones.

We chose Landing of Poughkeepsie because out of the ones we looked at, it was cleaner, they were more professional, and staff seemed better trained. The room sizes are great, she has a 1 bedroom and it is very comfortable. I would definitely recommend them, they have been very communicative about everything and it is all around just a great facility.

Our loved ones room is beautiful, its very clean and she is well taken care of. The meals look very delicious and since she has been there she hasn't lost any weight. She is always kept busy with the activities. So we are very happy with those, however there could be improvements with communication across all departments. From management to the financial department to the on boarding process. Also more attention to detail.

Right after we left the tour our mothers first words were " I would give anything to live here." We have had such a good experience so far, the staff members are extremely friendly. The only care services our loved one utilizes is the medication distribution and we have no issues there. The dining service is great, but our loved one is not a fan of the food but we do know it is her opinion. They are absolutely trying their best when it comes to the activities, the were great for awhile but then they had to quarantine so then it was not so good. However, our loved one enjoys going to church which they take her to and the movie showings. They really worked with us on the pricing, but since our loved one isn't a fan of the food that brings that value down some. It is nothing specific to the community, it is just our families situation.

We chose Landing of Poughkeepsie because of the location of the facility and also it is a newer modern, spacious facility. It does not feel institutional, it feels more like an apartment building. They are always offering activities but my loved ones does not participate. Overall I would recommend to others looking.

Response from Landing of Poughkeepsie
February 23, 2023Thank you so much for your lovely review of our community! We are so pleased that you are finding the experience a positive one. Please let us know if you need anything. We are here to serve! By the way, you may notice even more improvements to our Lilac Trace Memory Care community- New flooring and painting is underway.
It's a beautiful facility, and they have a lot to offer. It's more for independent/assisted living residence. I would recommend the community to others.

Response from Landing of Poughkeepsie
May 12, 2023Although your lovely review was left before my tenure with the organization, I felt compelled to thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts about The Landing Of Poughkeepsie. Thank you.
The community is nice, this is overly expensive. The senior community members have a fixed income and it is hard to afford. They did have a lot of things available on site such as physical therapy, doctors able to come in and see the residents. The nurses were good.

Our overall experience with Landing of Poughkeepsie is that it is very expensive. It is a newer building and looks very nice, but its extremely understaffed and they double charge you on your first month once you move in, and all extra expensive are ale cart. Our loved one was in both assisted living and memory care, and when he was in memory care he was able to get out of the building unsupervised, which we had to call the police and they found him a mile away from the building. We visited quiet often, and other residents would be in our loved ones room. The staff members were overworked so they weren't able to supervise all the residents. When it comes to the food at this community it goes to the assisted living unit first, and the leftovers would then go to the memory care unit to split between around 20 people. The rooms sometimes would smell of urine when we visited, and sometimes our loved one would smell of body odor from not being bathed. From a memory care position the activities would be they would take the residents out and sit them in front of the TV at best. Everyone that we know that has been at this community has left.

The Landings seems to be an ideal place. Clean, friendly, lots of activities, good dining options. BEWARE! This assisted living home operates on a social model not a clinical model, please do your research if you are not absolutely clear about what that means. The Life Guidance unit is advertised as special care for Alzheimer’s or dementia patients. That could not be farther from the truth. You will find inadequate staff, untrained to handle this population. Your loved one will be sent out by ambulance instead of managing or redirecting unwanted behaviors. Their inability to help these patients with special needs ultimately leads to a large turn over in patient population. Their egregious behavior will leave your loved one no continuity of care and will exacerbate and interfere with their daily functioning. It is my opinion and my experience that The Landings management does not care about the residents they are charged with caring for. Please, please do not place your loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia here.

September 9, 2019Rose, It looks like you have some concerns about your experience, and we'd like to personally address those. Would you mind sending us some additional information at [removed]? Then we can put you in touch with the appropriate members of our team to talk in more detail.
My Dad arrived at The Landing of Poughkeepsie a month and half ago. What a wonderful place this has become for him. He is now getting up and out of his apartment to attend activities, go and choose his meals, out of the facility on the transportation bus to a local church and shopping. It has been a wonderful experience. All the employees have also been exceptional and providing assistance with any of his guest ions.l really consider this place a blessing. I have worked the last 40 years in the nursing field and could not be happier, that Dad and all three of his children feel this assisted facility is just perfect for him. By the way Dad has been gaming back weight that he lost while living alone. He says the food is great and loves dining with other resident

Response from Landing of Poughkeepsie
March 11, 2019Beverly, We are thrilled to read that you and your family consider the Landing of Poughkeepsie a blessing. It is our pleasure to serve your Dad and each and every one of our residents. Your feedback is important to us, and we appreciate you sharing your experience.
We toured the Landing of Poughkeepsie. Beautiful facility. Residents looked happy. Food is amazing. It was clean. However, it was clearly stated this is a social model facility, which means that if my father needs extra care in toileting, he would not be able to stay here. The reality is that with dementia, sometimes they forget how to unbuckle their pants or to wipe. I am just discouraged at how many facilities I have toured where help with toileting is considered more of a medical higher level of care situation - yet he is not appropriate for a skilled nursing facility at this time. To be fair, this is the case with most private assisted living that does not have step down options. I am lucky my father doesn't have agitation, however, they made it clear that this would also not be handled in their memory unit. So, I will save you a trip, if your loved one gets agitated easily, this will not work for you.

I spoke with the staff at The Landing while looking at options for my father-in-law, and it was actually my first choice. The staff were wonderful, kind, and great at following up with us. However, it was too pricy, so I ultimately chose a different community

Look beyond the grounds, the flowers, the beautifully decorated lobby. My loved one had falls, ER visits, not getting medication, bruises, and no one could answer why to any of these happenings. Constant urinary tract infections from not being toileted and the need for myself and family members to be there daily! An investigation by the state was started, I was told, resulting in numerous [Removed]. I advise you to be aware.

My mother-in-law is trying to settle in here just a change for her . Our move-in was a little trying but the director made sure to help as much as possible. But the staff is great and attentive. They have lots of activities and bus rides to cultural events. And she loves the food 3 great meals a day. She feels safe here and the only thing I had an issue with is the cleaning just needs to be done more often. So it will get better I'm sure. Overall I give them 3.5 out of 5 stars

My mother was evaluated by [Removed] at The Landing and she was accepted. Gave a check for $13 + and was called the next day that after speaking with nurse at Elant, they could not admit her because they were unable to supply the needs my mother required. It was a nightmare since at that time we had furnished her apartment that was to be hers at The Landing. She was discharged from Elant (current nursing home). Our only choice was to bring her home until I could make other arrangements. I can not say enough wonderful things about [Removed]. She has helped me every step of the way and I think we have found a solution. The Landing is absolutely beautiful and I am not sure what to rate them because of my experience.

We toured this community. The staff was nice and they were able to answer the questions I had on the care that is offered at the community. The menu was appealing and the list of activities are nice. We wanted a bigger community for her care. I consider this community to be clean. We would recommend that families see this community on their own for the care of a loved one

I am not impressed with the food at this community. The memory care unit is all served the same meal and sometimes it is not eatable. They serve ice cream in a coffee cup. The main dining room food I have tried is good. The community is clean to a point. The staff are friendly. The nurse and social worker have been wonderful.

This is community is working out well for my mother, and her needs. She is doing well since her move here. I do feel she is safe, and in good hands. They have nice staff, and they are kind, and helpful whenever needed. The community is well maintained, they do a good job with the cleanliness around the community. They provide good meals, with a nice variety of food to choose from. There are activities offered through out the day for the residents. I'am satisfied with this community, and without a doubt I would recommend it.
