The staff was always loving and caring towards my mother. She trusted them and when she eventually needed help with dressing, eating, and personal hygiene they were very respectful and encouraging. They always made sure she was clean. Her room was always tidy. She had an apartment that had two areas - one for her bedroom, the other for her living room. We brought in a lot of furnishings to make it homey and cozy. It also made it possible for to have guests visit throughout her stay (we have a large family)! My biggest concern was with the care of her laundry. Her clothing became hard and over dried, and often wrinkled. Sometimes they were poorly folded or hung up. Sometimes another resident's clothing ended up in Mom's laundry basket or drawers. Sometimes she was missing items. We took great care in marking her clothing and belongings with her name and room number, but a few things went missing. Likewise, a few of someone else's things ended up in her room (i.e., a large pair of men's slippers marked "PAPA BEAR" were in her closet. LOL!). Overall it was a good place for her. As her Alzheimer's progressed the staff adjusted to her growing needs. She passed away this past [date removed]. We miss her, and the staff who so lovingly cared for her.... Read more

Ivy Park should only do Assisted living or only memory care for docile women, they don't know how to handle memory care for men or memory care patients that exhibit aggression; I had to pay for outside additional one on one care at their facility, because they are not properly staffed for memory care and are not trained to handle memory care patients. The memory care staff have to work the meal hours as wait staff and are spread so thin cleaning up after residence, they have no time to engage with patients and help them. The worst is they don't have restrooms near the activity & dining rooms in memory care; they require the residents to go back to their rooms to use the bathroom and then complain to the families when they wet them selves all the time. To top it all off the doctor that specializes in Dementia behavior that Ivy Park recommended to me for my father, had me move him to a memory care only facility that the staff is fully trained to handle just dementia patients, because she said Ivy Park can not take care of residents with dementia properly.

Response from Ivy Park at Pleasanton
August 27, 2024Hi Daphne, thank you for your kind words and this wonderful review. It was our honor to care for your mother and we thank you for entrusting us with her care.
Let's see, where should I start? I currently live in San Antonio, Texas, I share this with you because I was there from one Thursday to the following Wednesday. Ivy Park was and has been a guiding light for me, when I arrived in Livermore, California to transition my brother to a Memory Care Facility, Ivy Park was with me from beginning to the end of the process. I had no idea of what to expect, what questions to ask etc... Let me share this with everyone and anyone who is seeking a place for their loved one Ivy Park at Pleasanton is highly recommended.[name removed] and all the Staff here went above and beyond to assist me in my endeavor. They scheduled the nurse to assess my brother on Monday I had the answer by Tuesday and by Wednesday my brother was in his Private Apartment. Ivy Park at Pleasanton is not only a gorgeous place for my brother but for me as well, their loving and kind support is beyond reproach! Especially [name removed], Executive Director. Thank you

Response from Ivy Park at Pleasanton
August 6, 2024Hi Daniela, we are so pleased that your family is having a positive experience at Ivy Park! Your recommendation means so much to us and we sincerely thank you for the positive review.
We had four months with Sunrise and I would rate them a 4-5. Since Ivy Park took over, it's been frustrating. I feel it's taking them a long time to stabilize and with all the turnover, the Memory Care area has been constantly low in staff/care. Always new faces who don't understand what my father needs and the costs went up. Cleanliness is a constant challenge, but good job. It was better under Sunrise, but it feels like Ivy Park is finally under control in this area. Every one is very friendly and everyone cares. We bring in Visiting Angels to supplement care because there's been so much staff turnover since Ivy Park took over and we can't count on consistent care right now. Sunrise had a wonderful staff, they knew the patients and their needs. Since Ivy Park took over there has been a high level of turnover in staff, constantly new care givers in Memory Care, so they don't have enough experience to provide good care. Good people, I think a year from now I would rate more highly, but right now this is a generous rating. Dad has gained 3 inches on his waist in a year. He likes the food! They offer more activities than my father is interested in, but it's good for the population. As for Value for Cost, I think it's very high cost for the level of care that we are getting. Overall, my father is very happy there and he is safe/in good hands. I just hope that the staffing situation stabilizes soon.

Response from Ivy Park at Pleasanton
June 20, 2024Hi Anonymous, thank you for this constructive feedback. We will pass your comments along so that we can address any improvements that need to be made.
Ivy Park at Pleasanton has been a great experience over all. No complaints. The staff members there amazing here. They make it a fun environment for the residents by always having positive attitudes. My aunt seems to be getting wonderful care, as she has improved through her time there. We would recommend this community to other families.

No place is perfect, but the community is very nice and will work with you to take care of your loved ones. The medical staff level, all the medtechs in Memory care are LVNs and their wellness staff has multiple nurses under the Director.

We are very impressed by how genuinely caring the staff is with my father. My father feels safe and happy, which is critically important to us. Cleanliness in the common areas is excellent, although room cleaning could be better. They also need to watch more carefully for incontinence issues, but otherwise the care is good. Key staff are excellent and stable, but it feels like there is a fair amount of turnover in junior staff. All things considered, we would recommend Sunrise (soon to be Ivy Park) for a family in our situation. We're very pleased with our choice, and my father is happy and secure.

We had a very good tour experience with Sunrise of Pleasanton. The facility itself is very elegant. The lady who showed us around did a great job. Unfortunately it was just way too expensive for what we could afford. When she called to follow up and I had told her that we chose [facility name removed], she was happy and knew the directors name over there. It seems that the community of elder care in this area is very connected to each other and I like that.

We would be pleased to answer any remaining questions you may have. If you have additional questions, you are welcome to contact info@sunriseseniorliving.com. Thank you! – The Sunrise Team
The first couple weeks were a honeymoon period, then it was awful. She only got one shower the whole time she was here. She had scabs all over her knees. She did not feel good and I called 911 and they did not want me to call. She had over a 100 degree temperature when the EMTs got there. It turned out that she had sepsis and she passed away and they had no idea and no one ever communicated with me. There were a few good staff members, but a lot of staff were just sitting around. Whenever I would call with any issues they were dismissed. It was a really bad experience. I would not recommend this facility for memory care at all.

Sunrise of Pleasanton really does have that community feel to it, all of the residents and staff members were very friendly. Our loved one has begun to make new friends which is great. She does not participate in the activities at the moment but from what we can see they have plenty of different things. Based on our experience experience so far we would definitely recommend them to other families.

August 9, 2022Thank you for the wonderful things you said about Sunrise of Pleasanton. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review!
This was a good experience for us. Everyone was very helpful and they tried to be informative as possible. We took a couple of tours prior to deciding on this community. The staff were good to work with, and they are great at answering questions or addressing our concerns. The majority of the staff seem to show that this is their calling. The food seems to be very repetitive. There isn't a lot of taste to it, and there is not much appeal to it either. They are short staffed on the wait staff. The laundry, housekeeping, changing of linens, transportation is available within 10 miles, three meals a day, and the room are included in the monthly price. The community will take care of medication management, bathing, dressing, and hygiene assistance if the resident needs it and there is an additional charge for these items. There are levels of care that they will provide and this is how the pricing is calculated. The time the call button is pressed the staff are here immediately to assist the residents. There is nursing care available 24 hours a day.

This was quite a journey for mom, myself and my entire family. We toured almost every community in the area and the moment we walked into Sunrise we knew it was where mom would call Home! She lives in the Terrace Club Memory Care; the fact that they offered Terrace Club was what impacted our decision to move her into Sunrise. This community is so Welcoming and the staff is Extremely Attentive.

For what it is I guess it is good. I feel like the nursing staff and the efficiency could be improved some and it would make the community even better. My loved one does not like the meals and does not eat a lot of the meals because he says they are so bad.

Our family had an in person tour and we thought what they offered medically for the residents was superior. However, we did not like the layout of the apartments or the dining area.
Sunrise is not just a place to put your parents, it is a family organization. They all know you by name, they love you, and they love my father. It like having an extended family. The care is absolutely amazing. I could not ask for anything better. Oh my god, I can't say enough without getting emotional. The people, the care, the food is outstanding, and everything is outstanding. Don't even have a second thought, go and put your family member there, you will not be disappointed. I can sleep at night knowing that my dad is getting the all of the care and love he needs. I love this place!

Sunrise appears to be a great place, but 10K/mo. just won't fit my moms budget.
