Ivy Park at Culver City is a great place. They have an outdoor area within the Memory Care Community that mom loves. It allows her to be outside and enjoy the sunshine yet provides the secure environment she needs to remain safe. The staff at Ivy Park is attentive to mom and her needs and they are super friendly. Administrative staff are very accessible and have answered all of my questions in a timely manner.... Read more

When mom first moved into this community it was great. It was owned by a family and it was family oriented. Once the new owners took over things changed. They cut the staff and the prices went up. They started to nickel and dime everything. They did not seem to care about the residents as much as the previous owners. We did move mom out of this community due to this.

This tour was nice, I was not happy to know that the staff changes a lot. The residents did not seem active. The community is clean, but the rooms are smaller and seem like a hotel. This community has no green space to enjoy. The menu is an appealing. I recommend families tour this community. They need more outdoor area for the residents to enjoy.

I am sorry to have to write this review but it feels like the right thing to do, in order to warn other people who may be looking at this facility. We were looking for a place in the Westside area for my mother-in law towards the end of last year, and settled upon Grandview after looking at quite a few facilities. My mother-in-law was accepted in what they call the VIP unit, which is for Memory Care patients, in mid-Januayy 2015. It seemed like an easy transition but she was quite reluctant at first to come out of her room, and preferred to stay inside with the door locked which worried me. Within a month, she had been found on the floor of her room a couple of times, one time sustaining a rib fracture and a compression fracture of one of her lumbar vertebra. She started having physical therapy after this and they transitioned her from walking, quite unsteadily, unassisted, to a walker, which seemed to work well for her. When her physical therapist came to see her at the very end of March for an appointment she noticed that she could not walk at all and there had been a dramatic change. The staff just said she wouldn't get out of a chair and use her walked 'all weekend' but it seemed no-one had stopped to think why and there was no 'incident report'. I got her transferred to hospital ( in discussion with the private therapist-who was fantastic-not employed by the home). She had completely fracture her hip (femoral head) and had major surgery to repair it. She has gone through a hard rehab month and we are moving her into a new facility next week. To this day, no-one at Grandview can tell me how she broke her hip and why no-one got an assessment when she was suddenly in pain and could not walk the weekend before this was discovered. SO WORRYING. As a physician myself, I have to say I could not recommend sending any ambulatory person to the Memory Care unit of this facility. She sustained 3 fractures in 2 and a half months while there, and had never had a fracture in her life before this and was living in her own home before moving there. I could add more, such as having to remind staff to wash her hair when it had clearly been dirty for some days. Her physician told us in no uncertain terms "[removed]".

For both: The Grandview was smaller and more intimate than the Gardens in SM. Crystal gave us the tour, and she was wonderful! Kind, caring, and knowledgeable. The place seemed clean and the residents seemed well cared for. The one bedroom apartment seemed a little small-ish, but the resident had a lot of furniture. The two-bedroom was lovely and spacious.

This one was very nice but again, higher end dollars. It's comparable to the others we looked at in what they offer and the price but we found one that would give us a discount on the first month.

It just didn't feel right. I never talked to anyone there. I just walked in and saw people sitting there. They didn't seem to be attended to and it didn't smell very good. It just did not feel good to me. It could have been an off day but when I walked in I just thought I can't put my mother here!

We're extremely satisfied with them. It's expensive but you're taking care of a person's life! The care is great from what we can see and so are the activities. The only think that came as a surprise to us is when they have their big get together activities with lunch and everything, there is a $20 charge with that whic is fine, it's just we weren't aware of it. They go above and beyond. They are so nice and kind and helpful. It's a smaller, family atmosphere. We've had no bad experiences.

Staff was very nice. Very clean, people appeared to like it. The neighborhood is not that nice. My mother's smoking would be a big issue as there are no patios off from the actual rooms.

TOOK A TOUR ON SATURDAY WITH THE ACTIVITIES MANAGER. LIKED THE FACILITY BUT DID NOT GET SPECIFICS RE: CARE AND COST. SLIGHTLY CONCERNED THAT THE DIMENTIA SECTION WAS TOO ADVANCED ...

A Place for Mom has scored Ivy Park at Culver City 8.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
