We moved her because care was extremely poor. The place is surface nice and the staff was friendly but they don't want to take care of people that need assistance or have health issues. You better be healthy. We moved her due to lack of medical attention. They thought she was just dramatic and lying about her pain. 2 compression fractures to add the those already there later....several falls because of ignored know pain. She didn't seem interested in the food and other residents complained in general about it. They have some activities but were lacking especially in memory care. That was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT as we were told they had an entire program for them.

Meals are of good quality, however they are very heavy and limited in dietary options. The serving staff are always very kind and inviting. With so many folks on prescribed diets, it's surprising how limited the menu is.

Quality of care leaves a great desired. The caregivers are poorly trained and not held the overall experience seems lacking, as if the care givers have not been trained. They do not live up to the expectations and they try to things the cannot. I am looking elsewhere now that I know what. Could not recommend this 0laceI am looking for. There are good care givers. I'm so disappointed in the quality of care.

Response from Hyland Hills
August 19, 2024Thank you for sharing your feedback. I sincerely apologize for your experience at Hyland Hills. We take pride in the care we offer and would appreciate further information to ensure we address your concerns immediately. Your experience is important to us and we would appreciate the opportunity to correct any issues. Please call Hyland Hills to speak with the Executive Director, Marie to allow us to make things right.
Good people, consistent service, great facilities. The rooms were ample size and accommodations made it easy to bath and use the restroom. Only down side was lack of a low or no-salt diet. Management claimed that no salt was added but processed foods were pre salted. Excuse was, "no other senior living facility provides a low or no salt diet." That's a lame excuse and probably not true. Why not set the standard, charge more for the kitchen to provide low or no salt diets, for the elderly diet can be a life or death situation.

5 on all accounts. What we really like the most about the Hyland Hills community is the staff. Their staff team is caring, experiences and transparent. I would recommend this community to other families who may need a place for their loved ones.

The staff at Hyland Hills are wonderful. Though they are having usual turnover issues. My lower ratings are in the administration of medication management. It seems like it takes longer than it should to enter doctors' orders before they will honor medication changes and they sometimes get lost. The food is acceptable. Need better system to feed shut ins, a few instances where food wasn't delivered, and some food trays came missing food. They have undergone staff changes, so I'm willing to give them a break during the transition.

Hyland Hills has great penthouse views, great new and clean apartments with high ceilings, delicious food, and friendly nurses. Something we really love about Hyland Hills is the "co-mingle" living for independent and assisted living. It allows my mom to be safe and get care while still making friends with and doing activities with others who are more independent.

Our family had an in person tour with Hyland Hills and the tour along with the community was excellent, the community representatives were well organized and ready for our visit.
The staff is extremely attentive and caring. The quality of the food is very good for the volume that they need to put out. The staff was extremely helpful and available during the move-in transition. The facility is extremely clean. The activities are just a little lacking on the intellectual front for those that aren't really into things like bingo. It would be better if they had more lecture series, Ted talks, speakers or anything for those that are more interested in some intellectual based activities.

My loved one is a resident at Hyland Hills. We have really liked everything about the facility. They have been very helpful and accommodating. The food has been good, but getting some information such as menus, was tricky in the beginning. We would definitely recommend this facility to family and friends.

The staff is very friendly and attentive at Hyland Hills. The medication management is reliable and the staff is kind. The management is also very helpful. The food isn't great. The facility is clean and smells like a hotel. We are glad we chose this facility. I would recommend them to friends and family.

If your elderly loved one DOESN'T need much help, whether they are in assisted living or memory care, this is the place for them. But if the staff has to put a little more effort into helping someone, this is NOT the place. Residents pay a LOT of money to live there and as such should receive better care than they do. This applies to some care givers, the nurse, the physician(s) and most definitely the director, Marie. Only after our loved one became injured and was sent to a rehab facility did we discover multiple issues with the care, or lack there of. You know its a problem when a staff member asks you if the "fracture was caused by a fall". Pretty sure that's something a care giver, who works with my loved one, should know. My loved one has a name and should be addressed by that name, NOT by the room number they live in. Disrespectful. Just because something is pretty and new and shiney does not mean better. Hyland Hills is a perfect example of that.

The facility is beautiful, modern, and very well-maintained. The people who work there, including housekeepers, nursing staff, dining, attendance, maintenance, and administrative staff are all kind, helpful, and friendly. Residents we met were friendly, and seemed very happy with the facilities. There's just a very nice feeling when you're in the building. The amenities are top notch. Really, Hyland Hills checked all the boxes for us and for our in-laws, for location, price, and the appearance and feel of the place. Sadly, my father-in-law just passed away. We are leaving my mother-in-law there, but moving her to a smaller apartment. She's very happy there.

Comparatively speaking, we chose Hyland Hills because of the condition of the facility - it is new. The size and appearance of the units was great as well. Like everywhere else they are having some challenges with finding enough staff. Overall I would recommend Hyland Hills to others.

It's a very clean community. The care services are excellent. The food is very good. They seem to have a lot of activites, but we have not got involved yet. The value for the money is good. the only issue is they are, understaffed in the dining area. We picked this place because, they don't segregate people from independent and asstisted living. Also, the people were very helpful and honest. Overall, the facility is very nice , and everything is new.

A Place for Mom has scored Hyland Hills 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
