We toured Honey's House of Helotes when searching for an Assisted Living facility for our loved one. We had a great tour, this facility was great! This facility, along with one other in the area, were at the top of our list!
Our tour at Honey's House Helotes was fantastic. Everybody we interacted with was very friendly. They gave us all the information up front. It seemed like more of a nursing home / higher needs care facility, which we didn't need at the time. But the care looked perfect. It looked like a nice place.
The staff members are very friendly and the lady that oversees Honey's House is very responsive and anytime we reach out she responds back in a timely manner. When we send our loved one packages they are very good about opening them and delivering them to our loved one right away. We do feel that we are getting our money's worth. The activities do seem to be a little limited but our loved one does enjoy playing dominoes. Overall from what we have heard the meals are usually really good but sometimes the meat is a little tough for the residents to cut up.

They have Bingo on Friday's. We picked this community, because it was more homey and down to earth. They are very attentive to my loved one. I would recommend to other families.

This is a great small community. They have had very low staff turnover, in fact the staff has been the same for the last 7 years. Even the cook would watch out for my loved one. Everyone looked out for each other. The staff communication with the family was wonderful. The community offered home cooked meals for the residents. There was a wide variety of meals served.

I loved this little community! This felt more like a family than a business. The manager was very kind and obviously genuinely loved the residents. The staff are able to really get to know each resident. I liked that they are open to alternative methods. For example, the music that was helping an Alzheimer patient. I had vision for how our family could be intimately involved in the community! Grandma would have a room right off the common area, so would always be in the middle of the action.

Mom is adjusting well here the staff is great and very accommodating to mom and me. There aren't alot of residents here so they get a lot of 1 on 1 time. They try to engage her to join in the daily activities. It is always clean and kept up. They get 3 great home cooked meals a day. There is a patio that is clean, safe, and comfortable. I would recommend this community.

They have the most excellent ratio to residents. Mom enjoys it here and is delighted with everything. She enjoys the food and joins in on the daily activities, like crafts they just made a Thanksgiving bracelet that was very nice each little part told a story. The staff is very caring and attentive. It is always clean in there and the grounds are nice too. I would recommend this community.

My father (94) has been a resident of Honey’s House for 13 months. I am a registered nurse and I finally sleep well at night after moving him there from other facilities here and in North Carolina. He is well taken care of, staffing ratio is good , they are a part of my family now! It is a small facility that provides him with a good quality of life despite his blindness and inability to provide anyof his own hygiene needs. If there is an opening I highly recommend Honeys

We are glad we chose this community the caregivers here are friendly and helpful. The staff has called to make sure we were happy too. She enjoys the tasty food here. They have some activities she enjoys to like the arts and crafts. The community stays clean and smell free. They have a porch are with rocking chairs that she likes to socialize. I would recommend this to my friends and family. She is Happy.

I really liked Honey's House of Helotes, but it was a bit too pricey. The tour guide was friendly and helpful she was able to answer any questions. It was a good experience to tour but it was proved out of our budget.

I had three places to tour on my list that morning. However, the minute I walked in, I just knew this was THE place I was looking for for my beloved. All my expectations were met and then some . . . from the helpful guidance of the administration to the friendliness of the staff. Needless to say, I didn't tour the other two that day. I am very pleased with my decision.

Friendly and engaging staff, facility was clean and bright. Open kitchen next to the gathering area made a great impression and gave it a warm feeling. Although they had no openings I was able to place my Mom in their sister facility (The Cottages on Danny Kaye). Private rooms were nice size, layout of the facility very simple and efficient for movement of residents and staff.

They are taking good care of my mother here at this facility. I know she is safe and good hands. It is a very nice home, they do a very good job with keeping everything nice and clean. They have a wonderful staff here. They offer activities, my mother has tired a few. The food is excellent, but they are working on trying to accommodate diabetic diets better. This is a home I would recommend.

A Place for Mom has scored Honey's House of Helotes 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
