People and staff are very nice and my mother feels comfortable there. People love to help the residents in any way possible. Very clean place and kept up and updated for people with Disabilities. My aunt was not getting treated fairly at her senior living Facility so my cousin asked if we liked it and she is coming there Saturday and that way my mom and her sister can live a few doors down and visit and keep one another company.... Everything is just terrible up there, they do not have the house keeping like they said they would. We totally understand the issues with staffing, but we clean it every time we come to visit, we have to track down all the bedding and supplies which they said they supple everything. The bus transportation has been broken more time then we can count. The food is absolutely horrid and we have eaten it a few times ourselves so it is just not our loved ones opinion. Also the bugs are ridiculous, some look like mystery creatures.

There are some aspect of Blue Water Lodge that are great, and some areas that really need improvements. The staff members have been very friendly and helpful, however right from the start things that we were told were just really over sold. Since the beginning we have had so many issues, we know staffing is a major issues but with no schedules it is hard for the residents to get into routines. Also billing as been a nightmare and the elevator has been broken down for over a weekend since it is the only one we are concerned what would happen if there was an emergency since there are many residents here and multiple floors.

It was a very nice place, the staff was courteous, the place was clean. My loved one liked the food. We purchased the add-on 24-hour care. My loved one wasn't able to participate in the activities, but I could see things going on, like puzzles, outside activities, movies, etc. I would definitely recommend Blue Water Lodge.

We chose Blue Water Lodge Fort Gratiot because she liked after she toured it. My mom is in a studio and it is perfect for her needs. I have seen some of the other apartments and they look pretty big. The best part about her living in this community is peace of mind for me knowing she is not alone. I would recommend.

Both my mom and dad moved to BWL together. Very friendly and welcoming. The staff are very available and extremely caring and kind! My mom required additional help through homecare but my dad did not, so it was perfect to share a specious room together. The BWL is beautifully kept up inside and outside areas.

We needed to find a place for Dad to live that allowed him his independence, varied activities and good quality of life. We found way more at the Bluewater Lodge! The staff treats him like family and greets us as well. So much friendliness, great food and wonderful things to do; above and beyond what we could’ve expected. Our minds are at ease knowing dads there and still enjoying life at 87. I keep teasing him because I just turned old enough to move there...told him I’d come be his neighbor, that’s how impressed I am with this lovely living center!

This was a great community for the care of my father. The staff was caring and attentive to the needs that my father had. My father has recently improved. The menu was nice and he seemed to like the variety. We were happy to see that my father was social and also enjoyed the activities that were offered. This community went above what we expected and would highly recommend this community for the care of a loved one

My brother took the tour of this community and he said that he loved it. It was very nice and clean and a new community. The tour was good and he got to see everything . The price was a bit much so we chose somewhere else.

This place is the last place I would even send a parent or loved one. My mom has been in the hospital more since she moved in to this place. The manager Larry, should not be a manager at any place that cares for the elderly. He is not a nice person. I will say most of the staff are caring, especially the nurse staff. Other than that, all this place wants is your money. Highly advise to not send anyone here
Susan did a great job touring us around the property and sharing with us all the exciting things my mother could do. The facility and guests were friendly and this was our second choice of which could easily have been our first choice. For us the smaller kitchen space, high plush carpet that could be a tripping hazard for my mom and the three meals a day which my mom would probably not attend the breakfast were the only things that changed our minds. These were our thoughts and do not reflect that of the majority.

A Place for Mom has scored Holiday Blue Water Lodge 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
