[name removed], the Administrator is excellent. She always responds if we have a question or issue. The caregivers are friendly and interact with the residents. They always welcome our visits, even the kids, and our family dog Webster. They had a fabulous Christmas party last year. Residents were dancing and we were all singing with a DJ. It was one of the best memories we have with Mom since entering Assisted Living. Mom also gets regular haircuts, nails polished and a medical checkup monthly. They even have a podiatrist that comes in. [name removed] has been diligent to work to get Mom on the right medications to assist with her Sundowners and anxiety at night. We had a good tour at HeartHomes at Piney Orchard. It was just too expensive for our family.
There have been a few problems that were immediately addressed, some on my sister's part, some on the staff. The staff all love my sister, which isn't always easy. They are very caring even when she gives them her annoyance. They keep me in touch or call with any questions. I go there at least once a week unannounced to check on my sister. Its in a beautiful setting with a lake behind to take walks around. There are numerous places to eat which my sister loves to get out and go when she is feeling up to it. It is very convenient for visits from family and her friend still in the area. We use the doctor they have that comes on sight once a month and the pharmacy that delivers to the facility. I do wish the pharmacy would do 90 day supplies instead of 30 day supplies so that is costing more than we were paying before she became a resident there. I was told it was because she was in a Maryland facility. Don't know if this is true but didn't know before signing. There is also a charge for someone to pick up the tests (UTI, etc.) from HeartHomes that are done at Hearthomes which I was not aware of til it happened the first time. This may be true of all places; that I don't know but I don't like that.

This place has been PERFECT for my 83-yr-old mother, who has moderate dementia and mostly uses a wheelchair. The building is small and simple, with few residents, which is ideal for someone who has memory challenges. The staff is AMAZING, they truly care for each resident, and have shown patience and kindness daily. I have dropped in there several times unannounced and stayed for several hours, and witness how they cook, clean, and care for residents daily with heart, despite challenges with residents' capabilities and sometimes not-so-great behavior. The place is clean and well kept - and so is my mother. This is not one of those larger assisted living places that have a vast array of activities; activities are perfectly simple that compliment the level of ability of the residents. This makes a difference too in the cost, very reasonable for assisted living. Personal touches like fresh flowers on the tables, knowing food preferences, and learning each residents' background makes the difference. The facility has nice outdoor space, with a next-door playground to allow watching small kids play. I highly recommend Piney Orchard for folks with dementia challenges.

Most Staff are very friendly, but the Manager is rude and needs training on how to treat people and stop having so a know it all attitude. She doesn’t communicate well with family members and will have other staff members contact the family and their loved ones! As long you ask questions your great!! She has no professionalism! Your loved gets minimal care at best, showers are done regularly, clothing is always missing or it’s someone else’s! This place really needs to be looked at by the state. Very proud to say we moved our mom out! She made it a couple months before enough was enough! Also our mother reported many of times to the staff in charge of issues and nothing was ever done! It was always oh I don’t know about that was what you got from the upper management! It’s sad because it’s a nice building and could be a wonderful place if it had the right manager who is supposed to have been there 10 plus years!

Our father has been in and out of multiple homes it has been so frustrating but I think we finally found the perfect place! The staff is incredible such a beautiful loving atmosphere ready to help you with anything. We found out we were paying for things that we should have never been paying for and they handle everything I can't tell you how happy we are with his new home its a true home not just a care facility. [Removed] is awesome in every way I highly recommend you check out this place if you are in need!

The staff seem to be very caring and compassionate toward the residents. Some weekends they have been understaffed. I think they need a cook that doesn't also need to aide the residents. Just got a new manager that doesn't seem to engage the family members as well as former manager.

We had our loved one here for just about a year. The care went downhill after a few months and we ended up moving. I would not recommend this facility if you want your loved one to be taken care of. The staff is extremely lazy and the ratio for caregiver/patient is not enough to care for the residents there. There are also no activities ever done with the residents, they just sit and watch tv all day.

Heart Homes truly has a loving heart for my family member. We could not afford them without the sale of our loved ones condo. Heart Homes worked with me on the financial side. So far we are so pleased.

Very nice place. Rooms on the small side but very pleasant, looking like a bedroom, not a hospital room, pretty quilts on the beds, nice wood furniture, nice easy chair or rocker. 16 patients, two living areas, so can be private when I visit. Nice terrace with a gazebo, that runs right into a small park with a pond. They take the residents out there to get some sunshine and fresh air. Weekend staff very caring.

A Place for Mom has scored HeartHomes at Piney Orchard 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
