There seems to be a lot of turnover in low level care staff, and inadequate training for new staff. For example, staff walks into resident room and bathroom without knocking. Laundry is lost, misplaced, or mixed into other residents’ laundry. Staff is often dismissive or condescending toward residents. The menus are very repetitive and often barely warm by the time the meal reaches the table. Residents sometimes must wait several weeks to be seen by a medical professional such as a podiatrist. Opportunities for resident feedback as a group are limited (once per quarter) and are not well publicized. Feedback should be encouraged and facilitated but it is not. There are many staff members who are very caring, polite, and attentive but the bad ones spoil the overall experience.

Very happy with the care and concern that my Mom is receiving at Golden View! It is very expensive - I feel it could be less expensive - but I’ve found that all these facilities are about the same cost! My biggest issue is that the food is sub-par!!!! They should have better food with a better variety of choices! She hardly ever has received a steak! It’s always chicken , meatloaf, pot roast and very blah food! She enjoys the breakfasts but not a fan of the main dinner! The staff is absolutely wonderful - however they need more employees (like most) they can’t find people to work! Overall 4 stars! I also wish that the activities were more versatile to suit the individuals!

The activities provided are very poor. I would possibly recommend Golden View Health Care to others.

The Assisted Living area at Golden View Health Care is very nice. It was clean and there is plenty of room to move around. The Dining Room was lovely. Our loved one enjoyed being able to have dinner with the other residents there.

Response from Golden View Health Care Assisted Living
July 19, 2023Thank you so much for your review!
The staff is great, the only issues have been with the laundry, clothes go missing for long periods of time, there was an issue with billing in the beginning , overall the family feels it has been a very good experience.

The thing that was the most helpful for us was they took my loved one in with open arms. It was her first experience at a facility, and she was pretty comfortable there, which I didn't think would be the case. It was a good experience.
Golden View is a good facility. It is one of the more valued places in our community. It's a safe choice. The care was good, and I would say the care was above adequate. In being objective, I would say it was a fair and balanced experience.

My father, brother and I toured this facility as scheduled at 2:00 pm, therefore, we did not eat lunch. We were greeted warmly by the staff at the front desk and [name removed] our tour guide. The facility looked well managed and maintained. The staff we engaged with were friendly and outgoing. The residents we encountered were friendly and helpful. The dining area looked inviting as well as the activity areas. The hallways were wide with plenty of handrails. The only abnormality is that some of the rooms do not have showers; there are community showers for those rooms. There is 24/7 nursing coverage. Other than the personal shower situation, which would not apply to my father, the facility warrants consideration.

Overall a nice place. We like the 1 floor layout. The dining area was cozy and charming and we liked the huge shaded outdoor patio.

My dad recently moved into the assisted living at Golden View. This was a difficult transition for him, but the administrator personally escorted him to the dining room and introduced him to the other residents and really made him and us feel welcome. We visit at different times of day due to our busy schedule and have found the staff on all shifts to be responsive and friendly. My dad has adjusted well, even made friends and is attending the various programs they offer. Also, he is not the only male resident! When we toured other facilities, it is mostly females so this was important to him. I feel for the price we are getting quality care, a private room w/ full bath, and a nurse 24/7 on site.

My best advice for anyone placing a loved one in a nursing home/assisted living facility is to be proactive. I thought I had done a thorough job researching and writing down questions, but as time goes by, I have so many more I wish I had asked. My loved one is happy at Golden View for the most part. There were a few blips at the beginning, mostly because I visited after work and there were no administrators there to speak to about problems that arose. We got everything taken care of, though, and I must say that my concerns were addressed the next day, if not that night. When my loved one's resources run out, she will have to go into the Medicaid Unit, which is not as nice as her private room now. That will be a problem but it's a few months down the road. The majority of the care givers are wonderful. One has an attitude but that's a small percentage. Food is wonderful and the activities are varied and plentiful. Private room with bath, nice view. All in all, a good experience so far.

A Place for Mom has scored Golden View Health Care Assisted Living 7.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
