Bad to very bad: Food (Skimpy and sometimes not edible) Wait Staff (Rudest ever encountered) Many CNA's (A few nice ones) Diet (No special diets there, high fat and sugar) Therapy (Advertised but never saw) Bed Bugs (Always infested) Felons (They allow criminals grand theft auto and stealing from other residents and staff)

If you require a special diet such as low sodium or diabetic diet don't bother Gateway at River City does not provide such diets. Another thing if you are a nonsmoker you have no rights either smokers ignore the state of IL smoke-free IL laws and smoke outside of all 4 doors without the staff or administration doing anything about it. They have it listed in the lease that the only authorized smoking area for the residents is out back of the dining room however they ignore the IL law and their own rental lease. The administration is pretty much useless at even enforcing their own rules for the residents.

The director of marketing and move in Coordinator have been exceptional to work with. Both have provided excellent communication, making the transition of appropriate residents from Aperion Care Peoria Heights to Gateway at River City a very smoothly and without concern from this facility.

A Place for Mom has scored Gateway at River City 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
