My godfather lives there and the food is horrible and they don’t answer the call button when you push it. The carpets are stained and dirty and the management doesn’t care. I would not recommend moving there. A lot of people have left because it’s so bad now.

My parent has lived here for awhile now. They repeatedly have issues with food quality and quantity. They often do not have enough of the main food option to serve a reasonable portion. The staff does not respond in a timely manner to the button the residents have to push for help, and sometimes just doesn't repsond at all. I have asked my parent to contact me should something happen as well as pushing their button because I do not trust that staff will show up to help. Maintenance issues arise and take weeks to be corrected. Water and Ice machines are regularly broken. I am actively looking for a new residence for my parent. I am also not providing specifics in regards to identity because I believe there would be retribution by the staff against my parent. I believe this because they have already experienced it in past situations.

Mom has discovered that she had been to victim of theft 2 times and there had been high employee turnover rate. Not enough people on staff at times to make us feel like someone will be there to help in an emergency. She loves the most of the other residents and staff. She does not like management excuses and cut backs.

The was a good and beautiful community. The apartment had a spot and they didn't point it out to us, until I pointed it out.
Our family had an in person tour with Wickshire and we really liked the physical layout of the rooms. We liked how you could go from the bedroom directly to the bathroom which made more sense to us - not many other places we toured had that layout. However right when you walked into the community there was just a smell right away which naturally just knocked it down on our list.
Our biggest issue has been with the billing. They are short staffed (like everyone else) and that is affecting all of the other areas, especially the quality of care. The staff members have all been very friendly.

The facility was nice. The tour was done well. We had a few small things that we had hoped were better, like the view or outdoor space, but it wasn't anything that was a deal breaker. Then when I went to my car, one of the residents was sitting in my driver's seat. She wanted to start the car. She had on a sweater and slippers and it was freezing rain outside. This was a major red flag for us. When I went in to get someone, they had no idea she had gone outside. They said that the residents like to walk laps. I don't think an ice storm is the time to do that in slippers and no coat.

They are having a lot of turn over with the staff. It is hard not to be able to visit and see if your loved one is doing okay. The food is not good. They do not have a lot of activities. I have seen a decline in my mom since the quarantine due to a lack of socialization and interaction.

Director and nursing superv are great. Other staff mostly great. Response time is bad. Understaffed and overworked. My 96 yr old mother fell and pushed button for help. It was a long time before help arrived. We've had many problems in the past 6 mos and I'm looking for a new placement for her. The food is bad. Menu items are very often not what is served. Cheap food but high monthly rent.

A Place for Mom has scored Fort Harrison Assisted Living 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
