Liked small atmosphere and more personalized care and we would recommend Evergreen Cottages to other families who may need a place for their loved ones

We chose Evergreen Cottages over others we saw because it felt like home. The small community made it easy for my mom to feel comfortable with everyone. From the moment she walked through the door, staff were greeting her. I would most definitely recommend Evergreen Cottages to others.

I would highly suggest you never place your loved one here. It was the worst place I have ever been to or experienced. The staff lacked training, the staff waited several hours watching my loved one struggle to breathe. I ended up calling for emergency assistance since the staff didn't do this. The staff didn't even call family about how our loved one was struggling. The staff communication with the family was extremely poor. The meals were horrible, it was full of salt and they served multiple items out of packages. There is nothing home cooked about the meals they served. There were hardly any activities for the residents to participate in. The community doesn't have an activities director. In fact they are winging it with the staff they do have that aren't trained properly to care for the residents.

This would be a good place that provides a little more individualized care for each resident. If you are looking for more bells and whistles, I would recommend you continue looking. Due to the community being smaller there is typically one choice for the residents for each meal. There three meals a day served to the residents. The community doesn't have many activities due to them being a smaller community.

We love Evergreen from the first day. The transition was easy. The community is great- food, exercise, games and activities Evergreen has it all. Plus the help make the place home. Our director (name removed ) (no name lol) is the best- the place is run like a business but feels like home- all the kindness and caring touches me and I know my mother is taken care of and safe- I could go on...................................

I selected this title because I truly believe any person who chooses a career path to provide daily care, compassion, concern, patience & understanding for those dealing with any form of dementia, or comforting the family of those who must depend solely on others to provide care for a loved one are indeed angels amongst us! It takes special people to extend themselves to others & maintain a positive attitude to both the residents & family members trying to cope with the horror Alzheimer’s or any dementia can bring into their life! Thankfully, those wonderful people who choose to care for others at Evergreen Cottages provide a comforting service with a caring heart to my loved one as well as many others others.

My aunt lives here and we could not have chosen a better place for her. The caregivers are kind and attentive to our needs and love the residents like their own family. The food is tasty and they let us have meals when we visit. Activities are tailored to residents needs and abilities and they don't force residents to things they can't manage. I don't expect my 85year plus aunt to do activities she doesn't like, so they engage her with things she can do and enjoys. I like that they don't Nickle and Dime for every level of care. The price we pay is truly all inclusive and fair for the value. We are so grateful that we found such a hidden gem. in Evergreen Cottages. There are sixteen people in each cottage and they even have a nurse there every day. Thank You and god bless you.

They were wonderful. The director was very loving and caring and always hired loving and caring aids to take of our mother. The director was very knowledgeable and qualified. She is also registered nurse and she made herself available 24 hrs a day. She would make special arrangements and considerations for the care for each resident. They provide individualized care for each resident They have abundance of activities, The food was great, they were consciousness of health and only cooked on aluminum free cookware . This is a top notch facility. This facility was very clean, the made sure that your loved one is very clean, and there was no odor in the facility. One of the things our mother looked forward to most each week was the hairdresser that came in to the resident's hair. It was a very good experience.

The facility is really clean and well maintained. Security is in place for the memory care patients. The staff greeted us enthusiastically. We were given a thorough tour and all our questions were answered. The our only concern was the activities for the residents because we did not see a schedule of activities.

Evergreen Cottages is the place I recommend anyone that is interested in learning more about Alzheimer’s. When my Grandma was diagnosed we were lost, didn’t know what to do next. The Evergreen Cottage Team Assisted me and out family during the process, with an answer to all of our questions. Thank you for taking care of our Grandma

We love it here! It's just about being at home - or as close as you can get! The best possible place and best possible care for my husband of 41 years! We feel blessed.

I worked at an assisted living facility down the road and looked at working at this one. I was really impressed with the atmosphere and how calm the place was. I would want my family living here if they needed it.

Perfect place for my wife with her mental/physical conditions. The poepe here treat my wife like family and having my wife live here for the last 5 ½ years I’ve always considered them as my second family.

I went on a tour here and the staff was nice and helpful. They answered all of my questions. This was a nice, clean community. We were looking for a private room and all they had were semi-private rooms. So it just wasn't a good fit for my mom. I would recommend families tour as many places as they can before making a decision.

My mother has been a resident at Evergreen's Magnolia Cottage location on Provincial for just over a month and it's been a great experience, especially contrasted to her previous stay at a large memory care facility where she was unhappy. There are some absolutely wonderful and very caring staff here and they truly make this a great place to live. The private bedrooms and bathroom are really nice, and the common area and kitchen are both lovely, bright and welcoming. My mother also likes the back garden area. Moving my mother to Evergreen was a very good decision for our family.

It has been a very good experience for my loved one. She is happy and we are happy. I highly recommend this home because the meals are great, you watch them make the food and they give more one on one attention to their residents. It is a great place.

Prior to moving Mom to Evergreen she was at the Sunrise on Mason Road and I was in dire need of getting her out of there as soon as we could. When we found Evergreen we knew it was the perfect place for Mom just based on the staff. They took a personal interest to Mom from the moment we walked in the door and since she's been there we've seen a significant change in Mom. She is a whole lot stronger than she was prior and I couldn't be more thankful for Vanessa and Donna (the hospice nurse). Donna calls at least twice a week to update us on Mom and her progress which I really appreciate!! Thanks to A Place For Mom for helping me find such a fabulous place for Mom!

Our mother was in a drastic, frightening mental decline while living at a large senior assisted living facility, therefore, our family decided that for our mother's safety, welfare and well-being, we needed to find another smaller, more personalized assisted living facility for her fast. We feel blessed to have found Evergreen Cottages (with only 19 residents) and were able to move mom there within a week. The staff was very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make mom feel welcome and helped her get settled and acclimated. The surroundings are clean and tasteful, the staff & atmosphere is warm and friendly. The staff are always willing to listen to concerns and help the residents as necessary. Vanessa, RN & Executive Director, takes a personal interest in each resident. She manages their medications professionally and communicates effectively & efficiently with family members. The rest of the staff are trained and compassionate at caring for the elderly with or without memory issues. Each resident is encouraged to do what they can & help themselves, but no one is forced. No resident is allowed to be isolated and alone in their room during the day except for short naps. Staff members even look in on residents frequently every 1-2 hours throughout the night when residents are sleeping. Residents get their teeth brushed at least once (or twice) daily. Food, snacks and drinks are healthy and available. Mom has only been at Evergreen Cottages since Dec 30th (less than 6 weeks), but we have already noticed a healthy, wonderful, positive change in her. Kudos to Evergreen Cottages for taking such wonderful, compassionate care of our mother and the other residents living in their facility. We feel confident that Mom is at the BEST place for her and is getting the BEST care possible. Thank you Evergreen Cottages!
