Overall I think everything was good and super friendly. There was a time or two that when a medical condition arose, there was confusion on orders and f/u with the Dr. was lacking. We are very happy with Emerald Bay. The staff is very caring and the facility is beautiful and clean. She has a nice one bedroom apartment on the first floor with an electric fireplace. Her window faces the woods. She enjoys the birds. They do her cleaning and laundry. They help her with her shower and give her her medication. She gets WiFi and cable included.

My loved one's moved out of Emerald Bay Retirement Community 6 weeks after moving in. There was no communication with the family except for letting us know that they gave their 30 day notice. The staff did not help them adjust and didn't let us know how unhappy they were in the weeks leading up to the notice. At that time, they told me that my loved one was mean to the employees but yet they hadn't documented anything. On that same phone call they told me my loved one showed signs of early stages of dementia. The food was mainly canned and processed food. They had the same 7 menu items every week. They did hire a new cook and the food had improved significantly right before they moved out. The activities were just okay. My loved one wanted new and additional activities, but apparently she was supposed to coordinate them. The activities that they did have were more geared towards residents with more severe limitations. There were not a lot of fun events for those that were more independent.

While my mom was in Emerald Bay memory care, she was evicted and forced to move during a snow storm. She was 91, had dementia and was on hospice. EB cancelled their contract with Medicaid. My mom died 3 weeks after moving out of EB. Her heart was broken. Transfer trauma is real. I would never recommend Emerald Bay to anyone.

They were short staffed, and sometimes it took a long time for someone to come, when my loved one pressed the button for help. [name removed]in this kitchen was good with the residents, and made them feel at home. [name removed] did a good job with the activites. They decided not to take Medicaid anymore which was our biggest issue, and reason why we left.

They are wonderful and care about the residents. We picked this community, because we visited and talked to others that had family there in the past. I would definitely recommend this place but it is very expensive.

Employees always on cell phones, the activities director was nice. They have a button on the door to let you in and out, which is fine if your not waiting for a long time to get out when a employees clearly see you and wont bother to let you out. Plus then it broke with what they charge they could fix it. The room had the same dust bunny’s in it for months. Items went missing, when asked about them no one seemed to care. Once you run out of money and go on Medicaid they will kick you out as soon as you have to go .on Medicaid.

We loved the tour. It was a clean, friendly, and inviting environment. My loved one had fun during the tour.
It's fairly clean. But cleaning the apartment used to be part of the deal. Now they're saying the apartment isn't going to be cleaned once a week like it was before, because they're short of staff. And we've noticed our loved one's apartment smells now. We would expect them to reduce the rate or up their standards since we're paying for this service. The staff are very friendly though. Bobby in the dining room is a really top-notch guy and is really good with the residents. They have good activities, and our loved one is excited about the church services. They held a nice Mother's Day event in May. [name removed], the activities director, is awesome. However, the care could be improved, specifically regarding response times to call buttons. They're not answering the call buttons within 15 minutes like they say they do. I know nationwide there is a shortage of workers, including here at Emerald Bay. And it make me upset that there is no reduction in cost when we're receiving reduced quality of service.

My loved one hated it here. The first time I had a meeting with management they told me we had to move out within 30 days. You really have to be an independent person. Not a hoyer lift situation. Overall, you don't get as much care as you think. They are short staffed. I have had to help with the care of my loved one a few times here. During meal times, all the staff seem to disappear.

I feel comfortable and safe leaving my loved one here. My loved one is able to be more social and they are enjoying their time here. Movies, celebrations, happy hour, and more are some of the activities for the residents to choose from. The community was short staffed; however, they are bringing in more staff to assist with the care of the residents.

Emerald Bay was really nice and it was a good tour. They wanted to put mom into the memory care side of the facility right off the bat and we did not agree with them.
Our loved ones so far have not complained about the food and from what we have seen of it, it looks delicious. When we are able to visit we do see some people utilizing the different activities, but with the pandemic the activities are still pretty restricted. We do think the value for cost is great, and the most important thing about this community is the care they show the residents. The care is absolutely a five star.

Emerald Bay offers a lot of activities for the residents to do, and we like that our parents feel safe at this community. If anything happens to them, the community calls us immediately to update us. The rooms are very good, and our parents really like the food.

Response from Emerald Bay Retirement Community
May 12, 2021Debra, Thank you for your 5 star review! We appreciate your positive feedback and are glad to hear that your parents are enjoying their time at Emerald Bay :)
I couldn’t be more please with Mom’s new home at Emerald Bay! This was a BIG step for my mom as she never lived anywhere other than Sheboygan County! All the care givers are genuine & attentive to mom’s needs/wants. I knew the 1st time I walked in for my tour; this was the place for my mom!!! I am truly grateful for everyone and their kindness & love shown to my mom in her new home!

Our mom was in the Memory Care unit. The care, patience and affection from the staff was beyond belief. The facility has a warm and inviting atmosphere with lots of wood and a craftsman style design. Mom’s room was always clean and neat and she always seemed happy to see any of the caregivers when they came into the room. A plus is cost certainty in that you lock in a rate structure at the beginning and don’t have to worry about being nickeled and dimed. Care cost may increase with needs, but you know what they’ll be going in. I cannot recommend them more highly.

I visited Emerald Bay yesterday. The community looked great and the apartments looked very nice. I will be discussing with my siblings and possibly putting a down payment down to reserve a room pending outcome of my parents progress/approval.

This was a very good option for mother. They had the best response to my question about how to keep my mother from falling. They try to keep their residents in common areas and not their rooms so they have eyes on them all the time. This was very evident during my visit. [name removed] toured me around and she was very impressive and seemed to be a driving force for why this facility was doing so well. They are full with a waiting list, but did hae one studio for my mother. My only concern with this facility is driving distance. They are located west of Green Bay and I live on the far east side and I really did not want a drive of this distance to see mom.
