Elmsmere Villa

With the activities there could be more of a variety in organized things to do, although I notice the staff try their best to accommodate different levels of interest and abilities. For that we would give the activities 3+ stars. The meals and dining gets 5 stars because they welcome guest to their meals and their outdoor BBQ will start up soon. Based on our experience we would definitely recommend Elmsmere Villa to other families.

In the midst of the pandemic, they've not had any cases in their residents and all residents have had their vaccines. They have limited the number of staff, they've not kept residents "locked" in their rooms. They've had a very happy place during this time. The staff is always welcoming, happy. The meals are good, and my loved one enjoys the food. The diet seems to be varied, tasty, and fresh. The services are very good, it is quite the privilege to be there. The owner is a pharmacist and his wife is the doctor and she has become my loved one's primary doctor. There is also a registered nurse on staff. This is in a neighborhood that is wooded and has a park down the street. There is lots of parking for visitors. The outdoor area for sitting and visiting is attractive. Each floor has a sun room with puzzles, magazines, and books. There is also a game room in the community. The recreation coordinator makes sure to know the resident's interests and keep them active. The director is quick to act on any concerns we have or any questions over the community and our loved one. They take care of the resident's laundry and have a salon for the residents to get their hair care needs taken care of. The community has transportation available for the residents.

Beware. Unprofessional management. Several incidents involving resident safety, including physical violation. Poor communication skills with families. Lack of knowledge in handling health crises and issues of misconduct. Looking out for own indemnity over residents' safety. Non-transparent agendas. Staff put in managerial positions without adequate qualifications and professional communication skills. Discharge team at my mom's hospital called me to express concern over conversation with Elmsmere Villa manager. Four stars for very caring frontline nurses and servers who are understaffed and overworked. Interestingly, the two previous reviews are by Elmsmere managers; one who has since left after a short term.

Very nice location, nice grounds, good price. Single room @ base cost was not suitable. Awaiting an invitation to view a larger room but have been warned about waiting period for larger room. No guarantee.

The staff are amazing and they should be appreciated so much. Have seen so many changes good to bad... can't keep good staff Residents are some what and say " when they say something not being heard and no one cares"

free parking, nice quiet neighborhood, no memory care floor, very small outdoor space, friendly staff, rooms are small and utilitarian,corner room has beautiful windows (3), small lounge on each floor, common space is very small but does feel homey, city park nearby.

Excellent place. Has a wonderful feeling. It may be a little out of the way for us though.

We really believe she is going to like it there. All the other residents are so pleasant and cheerful. As well, the staff are all wonderful and very doting.

Very satisfied with the care provided to my mother. Staff is caring and friendly and very prompt to address different issues. Very small residence with approximately 50 residents which makes the service more personal.

I first, was very impression with the presentation. The person who greeted me was friendly, sympathetic to my situation and very well organized. She recognized my needs and proceeded to explain how those needs would be met - care services 24/7, value, homey feel, rustic setting with acces to shopping malls walking distance. I am very pleased with the choice I made.

Elmsmere Villa is very clean and the staff are lovely and very friendly. The meals are good and nutritional and the kitchen is quite accommodating with personal preferences. The Villa is like a very large house with a large living room, dining room and games room on the main floor. Each resident is assigned their own mailbox. All the bedrooms are on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors and each floor has a shared sunroom at the sunny end of the floor near the elevator. Residents can visit, play cards, do puzzles or just read in any of those rooms. For those who are able, there is a small laundry room on the 4th floor with one washer and dryer. There is only one elevator, so it gets a lot of use, especially at meal times and if you are moving in or out, you need to make sure it is between or after mealtimes. They could benefit from a second elevator.
