February 17, 2023Dear Skip and Jana Miller, we appreciate you taking the time to rate and review Desert Peaks based on your experience. Your feedback means the world to our team to let us know how we are doing. Thank you for the review.
Everybody was friendly. The interaction with the staff has been good. They need to add more veggies to the meals. I picked this community, because it provided what my loved one what needed, and it was out in the country. I would recommend, that other famlies check it out.

January 10, 2023Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
We have been very pleased with the care, kindness, friendliness and caring of the staff. Our brother has been in a couple of other assisted areas the last few months and it was not a good situation at all. The second place he was at by the second day he had none of the cloths we had taken him! Just the atmosphere there was depressing. Desert Peaks, from the moment we walked up to the entrance we felt welcomed and the other residents seem like they are HOME not just thrown away and forgotten. Thank you for always being available when we have questions and concerns. I definitely will spread the news of how much we appreciate Desert Peaks Assisted Living!!

I would recommend this community because I felt that this community was very homey and they allow a lot of independence for the residents and guest, they are very flexible. They had activities like social hours, crafts, bingo, movies and more for the residents to do. They also even let the family participate in the activities also when able to.

November 12, 2021Dear Kelly, thank you for taking the time to rate and review Desert Peaks based on your experience with our community. Your feedback means the world to us and we are pleased to hear you enjoy our Life Enrichment Activities. Thank you for the kind words!
I would recommend this community for your loved one. We are not there any longer due to some changes in respite care but this is still a great community for your loved one. The only things we used the community for was respite care. They did not meet our needs for long term care.

Desert Peaks is a small enough community where you won't become just another resident and get lost in the shuffle. The staff is helpful, friendly and caring. My husband's parents live there and they appreciate the attention and concern given for their health and well being. A variety of activities are provided both within and outside of the facility, and residents are encouraged to participate. My husband's parents like it there.

December 22, 2017Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback! We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve the offerings. Unfortunately, I think size is something we cannot change, but certainly understand that different environments are comfortable for different people. Thank you again and please let us know if there is anything else we can do to assist in the future!
This facility has been more than I expected and continue to go above and beyond expectations. I like that the staff take my Grandma out and go for walks around the facility and she isn’t just confined to the memory care unit. They actually talk to her and keep her thinking and active. The staff treats her very well and they are always on hand when we need them. They also have a lot of activities like decorating the halls for the seasons, arts/crafts, and taking them on field trips to art galleries. I would highly recommend this community to other families.

Response from Desert Peaks Assisted Living and Memory Care
December 11, 2017Thank you for the time you took to leave this feedback! We are thrilled with your experience and are continually working to improve. Families are a key part of making a difference in the lives of elders. Thank you!
First and foremost the residents were all nice and kind. A few residents companions, as they call them, were also kind and made attempts to greet and introduce themselves. My daughter and I had been speaking with the facility manager [Removed] for a few weeks about the placement of my mother into the facility. I had set up a meeting with [Removed]. When we arrived we were greeted by the receptionist who directed me towards the assistant administrator who stated that [Removed] was busy talking calls in her office. I was caught off guard because our initial walk through was scheduled to be [Removed]. In any case the assistant administrator was very nice and gave me a tour of the facility which I wasn't so impressed with. There was a strong odor of feces in the hallways where the residents reside. The Wellness nurse also spoke with us for a brief period as he was assisting with residents. I can't recall his name but it's nice to see the manager gentleman hands on with the residents. I was taken by the kitchen and introduced to the cook [Removed] who was very kind and explained how the meals were prepared fresh daily. I then went to the back where I think it was called the Alzheimer's Unit, again the smell was horrible. A resident was asleep on the couch and other residents were asleep at the dinning table. As we walked through to the TV room, it was if no one had bothered to clean up after lunch. Pretty disgusting. There was food spilt all over the floor and the table had juice spilled over. Finally as we proceed back towards the Assistant Administrators office we pass [Removed]. The assistant had tried to introduce my mother and myself to her. It was a very awkward introduction. As if she was uninterested or preoccupied. Extremely rude. Needless to say we have since settling my mom into a different local assisted living community. Our search for the perfect place for mom was not an easy but I hope this review helps others to not waste their time as I did.

December 11, 2017Thank you for the time taken to provide your feedback Romero. We take all feedback very seriously in our efforts to always be improving. You may be pleased to know that changes addressing your concerns have been made and we are working diligently on cleanliness, resident activities, personnel and overall guest experience. In addition, we have upgraded our resident call/pendant system which allows for much better care and faster service. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope your mother is satisfied with the location you found and we hope others will stop in to see for themselves how we've improved!
Toured and not impressed, nothing going on for patients as far as activities, they had a board full of stuff that wasn't being done. People in wheelchairs pushing themselves after meal while staff walked by on phones, director in office on her cell phone with doors closed while the one staff member toured us but we seemed to have bothered her. Floors were dirty in dining room with dirty plates, carpet looks like it hasnt been washed. Walked by back door with 4 staff smoking by back door, whos caring for the people? "The back" was depressing which is their dementia lock up, people just sitting on couch sleeping while staff member was on phone. Only on call nurse, rooms are small and people look to busy to care for the patients. By busy I mean on phones and smoking. Move on if your looking to expensive to pay them to ignore my parents needs.

Severely under staffed. Unprofessional facility. From the service to the medical.. desertpeaks has no true care for residents, or its own staff.. "the boss" isnt a good "capitan" don't aboard your loved ones on a sinking ship.. of bedsores and neglect!

A Place for Mom has scored Desert Peaks Assisted Living and Memory Care 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
