We understand how stressful it can be, trying to find a community that provides the perfect balance of independence and assistance for your loved one. At Deering Street Living and Respite in Livonia, Michigan, we provide assisted living and memory care services in a cozy and compassionate atmosphere. There are multiple stages in the aging process—especially for those with memory loss—which means no two residents need the same level of care. By keeping our community small, we are able to build intimate caregiver-resident relationships, allowing us to provide exceptional personalized care to each individual in our home.
At Deering Street Living and Respite, you can rest easy knowing that your loved one is in experienced and caring hands. We are a family owned and operated community, and we strive to treat every resident as if they were a member of our own family, by encouraging them to exercise their autonomy while offering assistance when necessary.
Creating an inclusive and friendly environment for those who can no longer care for themselves is our top priority. Here, you’re not just a resident, you’re a member of our family. We take care of all housekeeping, laundry, and linen services on...

We have been very pleased with Deering Street Living!! Deering Street is one of the best small assisted living homes we have experienced. I feel very comfortable that my mom is in great hands. Our mom also finally feels settled, and we would recommend this community to other families. Thank you!

One of the worst senior home. From the lack of communication, to the lack of hygiene care. The husband [name removed] was very rude. Each time I would visit we would end in a shouting match. Each time I asked about the medicine for my loved one he had no answer. Each time I asked if he was walking with my loved one he told me no. This place completely enable my loved one. But he would hound us down about a payment but couldn’t give my family a call when my loved one was t eating for several days I would not recommend this place to anyone. Please look elsewhere for a place to take your loved one.
I had a really nice tour experience with Deering Street. Most of the residents who were at this home were bed bound and that is not what we wanted for my loved one. It was a nice place, but just not the right fit.
The wife is nice as can be, but sometimes the guy can be a little rude. I do overall really like the place. The women's section is good from what I can see. I do think that they need to improve on the directions and what their expectations are.

Decided to place my dad in this facility after 3 horrific stays in local nursing homes in the area. This was the best decision that I have ever made regarding a loved one. This is a private home that provided excellent care to him. Before COVID I could visit anytime. When COVID hit and I could not visit inside the home, door and window visits were easy and allowed. Being able to check on him and get daily updates on his condition from the same staff was wonderful, unlike the endless changing shifts and different staff at a nursing home. I conversed with the staff here, doctor, and nurse whenever I needed to. Deering Street Respite Care felt like home. Sadly my dad passed away on [date removed], but I know in my heart that he lived his last days being taken care of by some of the most amazing people, and I want to thank [names removed] for the compassionate care that we received as a family. I will be eternally grateful! (NA on activities he was bedridden with no bedsores)!

We chose Deering Street Living mainly because of the manager, she was absolutely wonderful. I really felt that they truly cared about the residents care rather than the money. All the meals here homemade and very delicious. The rooms here are all standard size rooms and the large rooms had 2 people to a room. The main difference between this and other facilities is that this one provided and focused more on memory care and I felt that was really important. I would recommend to others looking.

The caregivers at this care home were wonderful. They took great care of mom while she lived there. They were very accommodating and supportive. The home was kept clean and they were very good at accommodating moms dietary needs. They assisted her to make sure she was up and walking. I would recommend this care home.

Lovely home, very nice people. Totally unable to care for my mom. She is 93, has her mind, but not her legs, due to a broken right femur. In the four days she was there, she received 6 large bruises on her left leg and was squeezed so hard around the torso during transfers by the husband/owner, she thought she had broken ribs. There were other staff able to transfer her without issue, including the wife/owner, daughter-in-law and another young man, but it was mainly the husband/owner that took care of moving residents. When I came to take her to emergency and have the ribs checked out, I was told by the man that she couldn't come back, she was too hard to handle and was ungrateful. This put me in a spot that she had no place to go to when she was released from emergency room. I was refunded the month's fee that I had paid up front, MINUS the four days AND, MINUS the money they owed to A Place For Mom. So, it didn't end up being a free service to the family, me, after all ... There was a break in her breastbone.

I loved them very much, they were very hands on. It was the first time they had someone that was tube fed and they were johnny on the spot willing to learn. I really enjoyed how they took care of my mother. They were ok people. The only reason I didn't use them again is because they were full.

There were a few things I liked about this place, some of the caregivers were very nice, the patients were all treated well and seemed hapyy, and the food was good and homecooked. However, the owner is a bully. My loved one passed shortly after moving in and he wanted to keep all the money I had paid him for two whole months, despite the fact we only used their service a few days. It was a huge ordeal dealing with him, and it left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Warm atmosphere, nice rooms, a bit cluttered, worried about large area rugs on most floors - safety for walkers, owners were nice, residents were not eating together, 2 residence but food prep done in 1, licensed, small bathrooms, sunny rooms, would let me visit when convenient for me due to my work schedule; dr. visits 1/mo.

Sweet caring couple, very hard working, concerned about the 2 separate buildings, and whether or not dad would get into things, i.e. kitchen. Also, didn't notice activities available other than outside summer gardening.
