They are a bit short staffed but most health care facilities are. Our mom is in memory care and we are not displeased with any of the services at Tyrone. I would rank everything a 5. We feel very fortunate your staff found this facility for us - 20 minutes from our childhood home! The memory care staff is very good with the patients. I personally saw one of the staff working with a new patient. Great job decreasing the patient's anxiety.... Read more

This is a very warm, smaller facility, which was perfect for my mother as far as learning a new place with her memory issues. They basically rolled out the red carpet the day she came in. Everyone was so nice and like they were waiting for her to arrive and so excited. The rooms are a very comfortable size and updated. The staff are excellent! There are activities daily throughout the week. It is quieter in there on the weekends. They have a lovely front porch and patio around the side of the building for outdoor time which my mother loves. I looked at a lot of facilities from State College Huntington to Altoona and new when I saw this place that it was the right fit for my mother. She has been in there for months and is thriving. She’s doing activities that I’ve never seen her do before and she is out of her room and socializing more than she has in years, make it a very special place

Mom has been at Colonial Courtyard for 3 years. She has wonderful caregivers and she has met some good friends. The facility is beautiful and clean. There are many activities for the residents to participate in or they can sit on the front porch and visit and enjoy the scenery.

Response from Colonial Courtyard Tyrone
August 30, 2024Thank you for sharing your positive experience at Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone. We are thrilled to hear that your mom has found wonderful caregivers and made good friends. The beautiful and clean facility, along with the variety of activities, creates a welcoming environment for all residents. We love when our residents enjoy gathering on the front porch!
There is not much to like if you have to live in a place like that. They have made some friends but they are always bored. The biggest complaint is the food.

Response from Colonial Courtyard Tyrone
August 5, 2024We are happy to hear that your loved ones have made friends with other residents at Colonial Courtyard Tyrone. Life is always better with friends! Would you please connect with us to arrange a time to talk about your dietary concerns? We are able to accommodate personalized requests and make sure all our residents are enjoying delicious, healthy meals. We look forward to hearing from you. The community number is 814-686-5970.
I would strongly recommend that a client should be familiar with what supplies are being provided and photograph items you have questions about. That is how I discovered I was being charged for items not provided. My advice is to always review each monthly invoice closely for errors or false charges.

[name removed]recommended this community to us. We were in immediate need of a place for mom because she needed 24x7 care with her memory issues. It was close to her home and they had a spot for her. My brother & sister-in-law went to see it and loved it. My sister and I were sold at that time on the pictures. We both have been there since and love it!

They communicate very well with the families of the residents. They are also very patient with any questions and concerns that families might have. I also like that they let the the resident personalize their room so that they feel very comfortable in their surroundings. I really just can't say enough about this place. I am so so glad that we found this place for my mom. I like to call the Colonial Courtyard a gem in the country. We have nothing but good things to say about this place. The residents personal rooms and the common areas are always clean. We noticed on our very first visit to Colonial Courtyards that everyone on their staff is friendly. That has only been magnified since my mom has become a resident. We are very satisfied with the care services that my mother has been receiving. She hasn't been there very long, but we are extremely happy with the care from the medical/non-medical staff there on a daily basis. My mom loves her Dr. and PA. She also is thrilled that she can get her hair done every week. The staff here is amazing. It was very obvious from day one that the staff really treat the residents like kings and queens. Many of the staff even come for the special activities even when you're not scheduled to work. The meals are delicious. My mom tells us every day about the great meals. She also loves that she has choices for entrees. When it's meal time you can smell the great food as you come in the door. We were extremely impressed with the activities they have to keep their mind stimulated. There are daily activities, weekly activities and special occasion activities. Our family is quite satisfied. My mom is doing and feeling much better since coming to Colonial Courtyard. We as her family know that she is in great hands and she is very happy there.

Colonial Courtyard Tyrone had a case of Covid when we toured. I just didn't feel the place was quite clean enough for my preferences. And we never did get in to see the Alzheimer's section. So I didn't feel we got a good enough tour.
Response from Colonial Courtyard Tyrone
April 28, 2022At Colonial Courtyard of Tyrone, we prioritize the safety of our residents, our team members and all visitors. When we have a resident that has Covid symptoms we take precautions to minimize exposure for everyone. Our residents are treated like family - keeping them well cared for, happy and healthy is our goal. Unfortunately when you toured our community, based on Covid protocols, we were unable to open the Memory Care area to visitors. Our community is currently clear of Covid and we invite you back for a full tour. Please call or email Steven Rupp, Community Relations Director, at 814-686-5970 or srupp@integracare.com to schedule a tour at your convenience.
I like that the community has private rooms for the residents. The staff are friendly. They have an easy to get to the location of the community. The staff are great to work with if you have questions or concerns that the family has. The only issue is that it can be hard to speak to a doctor. There is a monthly recap sent to the family of everything the residents have been up to in the community.

I was looking for a place to bring my husband for a little while but I didn’t like it here and did not want him to be here. They didn’t have anything ready for when I was there visiting. It’s a closed-in facility so the residents can’t get out, they keep everyone locked in and it just felt like a jail. They were nice and clean but I didn’t like the way they did business. They wanted my husband to have a chest x-ray done, but he didn’t need it. The sales woman came to my house and asked us to fill out an application and told us that there would be a room available for my husband, but when we got there she did not have any rooms available. We drove all the way there and then had to go back home. I don’t think the sales person is very professional. When she calls, her number shows up as unknown and isn’t able to be called back. We even called the facility to make sure everything was good to go when we were on the way and we were told to come on in. There was no communication at all. I don’t recommend them.

They are doing a great job. The staff is friendly, and it's clean. They are just finishing up a remodel, which they have handled very well. We are excited to have that done, and are pretty happy with them.
