It is so difficult to find the perfect place to meet your elderly parents needs but I can honestly say City View is an excellent assisted living facility. My mother was in a lovely large room with a walk-in closet and it was always kept very clean. The caregivers were amazing and they all took such gentle, loving care of her. She quickly made friends in the dining room and participated daily in the activity room. It was fun taking her on walks in the Hollywood area as there are lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance. All of the staff are welcoming, friendly and you can tell how hard-working and dedicated they are. I truly felt that they cared about my mother and any requests or questions I had were answered in a timely manner. I highly recommend CityView!... Read more

Overall CityView is a great place and my Mom enjoys being there. [name removed] was amazing. The staff are very personable. Area for improvement: Staff need to better communicate resident's changes (ie. medical pick up, medication administration, unique nutrition restrictions)

CityView was a lovely assisted living community. Rooms are large with very nice bathrooms. The community rooms were also very nice and the food that was being served for lunch looked healthy and delicious. Residents seems happy! [name removed] was quite informative. We would not hesitate to place my uncle at this facility in when the right time arises. Thank you.

If you are thinking about moving [a loved one] here please consider what my sister and mother have endured in the last ten months ([dates removed])...mom’s security cameras in her apartment have exposed this horrible place.. Calls for help go unanswered weekly to this day, even after multiple calls to the front desk. You will need to drive here to assist your loved one yourself while asking, “What are we paying for?!” Dementia/Alzheimer's residents who are supposed to be kept on a secured separate floor, per the residency agreement, are moved in and on to assisted living floors. They scream at all hours of the night, enter your unit uninvited, pull down their pants and defecate right in front of you, demand to sleep with you, hit you for no reason, call you derogatory and anti-Semitic names and walk around naked. The facility will bill you thousands of dollars in advance for services then fail to provide them. When you bring this to their attention and ask for a credit to your account, they ignore you and continue to charge you for the services they are not providing. Dehydration/5-day Hospitalization stay due to Cityview not providing you with, or encouraging you to drink any, water. Salivary gland infection due to the severity of the dehydration stops you from eating. When your doctors advise Cityview you are OK to return to finish your recovery at home with not one but THREE antibiotics, Cityview’s administrator [name removed] will deny your return while going off on your family with emails like “The hospital thinks you’re so controlling of your mother they are calling Adult Protective Services on you.” “You are a sick person. Get help.” When you show her emails to hospital staff they will be appalled. Serious infections, like upper bladder infections and the infection above, go unreported to family. When you start to get agitated (a sign of infection) due to the infection being left untreated, management shows ZERO compassion. Instead, they compile a list of every time you were agitated (doesn’t matter they were the cause) and then try to use it against you to unlawfully evict you later. Incorrect medication given on some nights; no medication at all given on others. See [name removed]'s review on Yelp - same experience but his mom ended up in hospital. Cityview continues to employ these offending med techs and caregivers, allowing them to continue dispensing meds to your loved one, or not if they so choose. The administrator,[name removed], will ignore your emails and concerns or, when she bothers to respond, will call you names like “[name removed] happy family member” “Criminal” or simply write back “What do you expect?” when you bring to her attention for the 40th time that no one responded to your loved one’s call for help. If you continue to pressure her, [name removed] will start accusing you and your family of outrageous, slanderous, wholly unfounded behavior so they can try to unlawfully evict you. Housekeeping wrings out their dirty mop on your carpet daily, cleans the toilet with dry paper towels. You will need to clean the room yourself, daily. We caught one caregiver stealing supplies by bringing small plastic bags with them. Residents talk about their stolen items (e.g., jewelry, credit cards, collector’s items) in the dining room during meals. There is no supervision in most activities. A female resident (who was recently physically removed by LAPD) hit, not once but twice, our 96-year-old disabled mother who is confined to a wheelchair. Cityview management didn’t even put ice on our mother’s injuries. CityView promised it would keep this woman away from our mother. The same resident slapped her several times, including across the face, a second time when CityView staff sat her right next to our mom, and once again no ice applied to a hematoma, swollen face, two scratches. This is only a small glimpse as to what is really going on here. Shame on the owner and shame on the horrible management!

When I toured this community I enjoyed it. I seemed clean. The staff was nice and answered all of my questions. It just wasn't an ideal location and it wasn't in our budget. So we had to go elsewhere.

My mother moved into City View several months ago. She is definitely enjoying living there. The people who run it and work there seem to have a genuine liking and concern for the residents and are always looking for ways to improve the experience of each individual resident. My mother especially enjoys the roof top views of Los Angeles, as well as the view from her own room. She is also pleased with how well kept and clean City View is. I have eaten a number of meals there with my mother and I find the food to be very tasty, healthy and well prepared. They take special note of the diet issues of each resident.

We placed my Aunt in the Memory Care Unit. The atmosphere is friendly and the caregivers are excellent. The price point is difficult to assess and is not for everyone.

My loved one is in the memory care unit and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is so so, however they are working with me on my loved one's dietary needs. She likes the activities. They are on top of keeping the community clean. They have a rooftop area with a million dollar three hundred and sixty degree view of the entire city. I would recommend community.

My mom does not want to be there. She is trying her best to get home and at this point, she doesn't understand that will not be happing. The staff is doing the best they can to be accommodating and empathic. They are trying to help me find a helpful and working solution to try and keep my mother calm. They have her doing activities and she is eating and liking the food.

This community fits my mom like a glove it mirrors her personality so well I can't believe it. She has made so many new friends. The residents and the staff are so friendly and outgoing. The community offers so much to do in ways of onsite activities and day trips or outings to the stores there is always something going on. My mom has a spacious room with a beautiful view. The food is good they offer a good variety and there are always alternatives if you just ask the staff to prepare it.

After touring multiple communities and doing my share of research I would have to say this would have been my second choice to place mom in. Overall the property was very nice however it just came off too institutionalized instead of a place where seniors reside. It has multiple floors a huge dining area which is fine if your use to that sort of environment. I did like that they provided move in options such as they will provide all the furnishings that you would want. The staff appeared to be friendly and attentive to the residents.

This is a nice community. They have a lot of other residents that are very active. This is a clean community. They offer a lot of activities. The community has a being outdoors. The meals seemed to be appealing. The staff was nice and helpful to answer the questions that we had on care that is given. I would recommend that families tour this community for care for a family member

Things have been okay for my mother in law so far. We are not totally satisfied with everything, but we are waiting it out to see if things improve. I feel the staff needs to be more patient with her and understanding her needs more. The community is very quiet not much going on. I would like to see my mother in law be more active and social with the other residents. The food needs to be better with more healthy choices. Commutation is the biggest problem with the staff. I would recommend it at this time maybe in the future.

A Place for Mom has scored CityView 6.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
