Response from Charter Senior Living of Gainesville
July 11, 2024Hi, thank you for sharing your positive experience! We're glad to hear we delivered such a great experience. If there's anything further we can do for you, we are happy to help!
The entire staff was friendly, helpful, answered questions and helped to make my sister comfortable. My sister seems to have adjusted well to the facility thanks to everyone’s efforts. They do not hesitate to contact me if my sister requests it.

Response from Charter Senior Living of Gainesville
June 14, 2024Hello Susan, thank you for sharing your positive experience! We hope you have a great day!
Educate yourselves to the extent possible in regard to terminology, their specific financial options, and what the patient actually wants in terms of late-life care. Then, don't be afraid to lean (even heavily) on your APFM rep. Mine was great at explaining what I didn't know, and in getting me into a proper mode of thinking. My mom was NOT terribly cooperative throughout the entire process, but she's back home now because of the excellent advice I received.

April 18, 2024Hello, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us this feedback. If you ever need anything else from us, please feel free to give us a call or stop by. Have an awesome day!
The issue our family has had with Charter Senior Living was that the meds were messed up twice and our loved did not want to participate in activities. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

Charter Senior Living of Gainesville is conveniently located. The Director is responsive, as is her current MD. The previously assigned MD was not. Programming could improve. We do like the renovated facilities

Response from Charter Senior Living of Gainesville
November 3, 2023Hi, thank you for sharing your positive experience!
Charter Senior Living of Gainesville has a great staff and a very caring, family atmosphere. The housekeeping is good, but I think they are overwhelmed at times. Communication with the family is great. They really go out of their way to keep you informed. The move-in was better than we ever expected. It was a good experience. My mom has commented that the meals are good, so that is a good sign. I would recommend Charter Senior Living of Gainesville. They take good care of their residents.

October 12, 2023Hi, thank you so much for your feedback! We hope you have a great day!
I have recommended to others. We picked this community, because at the time they were the only ones that offered respite care. There are many folks that enjoy sitting out front but they have trouble getting up from the seating because the cushions are worn out

I think the biggest issue with this community has been the turnover in the health director. I hope the current person stays. They have also had some other staffing changes but that might be everywhere. The new activities haven't interested my brother. But he is a tough customer. He says the food is okay. Sometimes it can be really good and other times just okay.

My father had pretty advanced Alzheimer's and so we were specially looking for a memory care facility that we thought had a higher level of care than others, but it turned out that wasn't the case. Initially my dad needed some assistance with eating and prompted to drink water, but they were not really able to provide this consistently, resulting in him being hospitalized twice with severe dehydration and lost a lot of weight. He also had several falls, many in the middle of the night, so it was just not enough supervision for the state he was in. In retrospect he would have been more cared for in a hospice facility or more a supervised hospital care type center. After the two hospitalizations, my dad passed away only after being in the facility for less than six months. Several other patients passed away within weeks of him, which I'm sure happens, but many were from declining after falls, some covered in bruises , etc. I would recommend the facility if patients do not require assistance with eating/drinking , are able to communicate and somewhat independent without fall risk. This facility had little activity programming.

The people and the way they present themselves really stood out to us here. Lots of activities. They just made you feel that you would be in a safe and happy environment. Housekeeping is included but had some minor issues and now assessed.

This community stood out above all others we toured. It was clean, lively, everyone we came in contact with greeted us. Alot of residents were out and seemed to be very happy and engaged. They have many people working there that have been there many, many years. I think this makes a huge difference in the atmosphere. It was very family oriented and inviting. We will be touring again with more family later in the month.

Unprofessional and uncalled for comments and refusal to give info by nurse [name removed]. My loved one missed 2/3 meals per day despite my pleadings to wheel him in to eat if they had to. He lost weight, they let him sleep through meals. Bathing was an issue. They didn't put him on the list for Podiatry and he had pain from walking due to super long toenails. Suggestions for improvement: Decrease staffing turnover. Improve management's education on all manner of ALF responsibilities: monitoring patients for signs of decline, falls, security, communication with families. I could go on and on.

After a nightmare at in a Lake City facility this was wonderful. As you walk in you can look around and there is no odors no dirt no shabby carpet and paint. Just a fresh clean environment with people who are friendly and helpful at the front desk. I've seen the food on multiple occasions and it smells delicious and the patients there really seem to enjoy it. My mom has actually gained weight since she's been there. With rehab on site and a beautician that comes once a week and entertainment galore it's just a very nice place.

The tour was great in November, my loved one planned on moving in the following month after Christmas. The facility went on lock down shortly after because of a covid outbreak. So they would not allow my loved one to move in but they took my money. A whole month paid upfront. I got messages weekly and she couldn't move in through the whole month of January. They let us put her belongings in her room but not let her move in. Then my loved ones health declined and this place had the nerve to ask for 2 more months money. I refused and lost the deposit placed. She got sicker and ended up passing waiting to move in. They just called and left a voicemail and are literally trying to withdraw this money from my account when my loved one never lived there. I had to have my bank block their access to my account over a month ago after they got the deposit. She never lived there. I am not sure why they think we owe them any money.

We chose Charter Senior Living because the person I was working with, [name removed] was excellent at answering all my questions and gave us multiple tours. They really worked with us on the cost as well due to our situation and we appreciated that. I feel like overall everyone has been very caring and friendly. I would recommend to others looking.

Admitted father from out of state and Charter worked to assist in the transition making the process smooth.
I would recommend the community to others. It is a smaller community that is quiet. They are going through a ownership change.

Brookdale Gainesville is an affordable option for your elderly loved one for their care. The services are middle of the road. My loved one had adequate space for them during their stay. The food was ok, it wasn't terrible. It is what I expected, my loved one was able to pick items off the menu that they enjoyed.

[Removed] did a great job giving helpful infomation and touring the facility. The place was very clean and well kept, more of a upscale hotel setting. The residents seemed very happy and contented. [Removed] interacted with various residents along the tour which was a plus showing personal interaction and interest. They have community meetings giving residents the opportunity to express likes and dislikes helping the staff to better serve them. I was very impressed with the facility.
