Residents at Beaver Dam Assisted Living in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, live on a quiet and tranquil lakeshore, but the inside of this senior living community is known to be a lively place. Beer and cheese tasting, scooter races, and tailgating for Green Bay Packers football games are among just a few of the past activities.
That’s not to say a bit of peace and quiet isn’t possible. The independent and assisted living community has scenic views of Beaver Dam Lake, close access to half a dozen parks, and a couple of golf courses nearby. The Horicon National Wildlife Refuge — a habitat for over 300 bird species offering impressive views of migratory Canada geese, ducks, and sandhill cranes — is perfect for a day trip.
Several payment options are available, including private funds, long-term care insurance, veterans aid and attendance benefits, IRIS funding, and Family Care funding.
For the safety and convenience of residents, the Beaver Dam Community Hospital is just five minutes away.
In addition to a lively calendar of activities planned by life-enrichment coordinators, residents at Beaver Dam Assisted Living receive a wide variety of services to help ensure they’re comfortable and healthy.

We were very impressed on every aspect of this facility. Especially, cleanliness, facility layout, staff and size of rooms. Our tour was given by [Removed] who was very knowledgeable of the facility and what it offered our loved one. We also were impressed with the attention she showed our mom who was touring the facility for our father.

There are benefits and concerns my family and I have with this community. The community is very clean and feels very comfortable. The apartments are large, and pleasant. The concerns we have are that, when we toured the community, we were invited to try the meals. The meal we were given consisted of a main course and salad which was nutritious, and now that my loved one has moved in, that has declined significantly. Now my loved one receives things like a piece of fish bread or a hotdog and chips. No fresh fruit or salads. This makes us feel betrayed. We understand that sometimes changes occur, we would still expect it would only take a couple of weeks, Also, during our tour they told us there would be a lot of activities which have not happened yet, my loved one.We have been very patient and reluctant. The community itself is nice.

My father is really enjoying his stay at this community. The staff has been wonderful and helped him so much through the adjustment period, he can't say enough about them. The place is kept spotless at all times. Since he moved in, the community lost their chef so the meals are not as good as they used to be. They also lost their director of activities, but things will hopefully improve soon. They do have a variety of activities at the moment, though, there is something to do every afternoon.

A Place for Mom has scored Charleston House Assisted Living 7.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
