The nurse they have there [name removed] marks is just horrible and just unprofessional I made a comment towards her behavior and she said she would blast me on Facebook as what’s known as a Karen and discuss my grandmother’s medical information as she pleased cause she has the right to and that I needed to get out her face with my nonsense

We toured with Canterfield of Tallahassee and it was disgusting. It smelled like raw sewage & the staff acted like that was normal or just ignored it. The food looked unappetizing also. They had no outdoor area except a small concrete pad that looked into a parking lot.
My loved one was all set to move in and ended up passing away before she could make the move. I spent time at the facility getting her room ready, and everybody there was so friendly and nice. The staff all had smiles on their faces, and you don't see that at a lot of places. The way they treated me was unbelievable. I feel it was the best place I could have taken her. I would highly recommend them.
We are very happy with Canterfield of Tallahassee. We have told other people about it - we told our primary care physician who wrote down their information. I've even contacted a nurse I know who works for hospice, I gave her a couple names of different facilities and asked for her opinion. She said, "Definitely go with Canterfield, as the other place is known to not have enough help.", so even she knows. There's also a friend of hers, who's a doctor or a nurse, they visit Canterfield a lot and they know what to look for. Even they are very pleased too. So once I heard all of that, I knew it would be a great place. The Director, [name removed], is just the best. She puts you at ease, shows everything, and answered all of our questions; she couldn't have been nicer.

The staff was attentive. I did not have complaints with the care. They went above and beyond to explain questions.

We toured looking for an assisted living community for my dad. In the upstairs hallway there was a horrible stench - like sewage - that was so strong it caused our eyes to water. The sales director just said "How embarrassing!" and plowed ahead with the tour. I couldn't believe they didn't stop to notify anyone to figure out the source and take care of it. I couldn't help but think of all the poor residents on that wing of the building having to endure the awful odor for who knows how long. It showed a real lack of professionalism and caring. Hard no for us. They couldn't pay me to bring my dad there.

Our family had a virtual tour and it was a good experience they did a great job explaining everything to us.
I looked at 4 places in the area and the reason we chose Canterfield for my mother were the fact that is is a newer facility and physically nice and I felt like the residents that I met were very much in line with my mothers personality and I figured she would fit in well. The director is very responsive and I can call her whenever I need. They are having shortage of staff, so the care has suffered from that some. The staff that they do have is great and they are trying their best with what they have. They do have an activities director who is great, but I do think they could provide more for the residents to do. Overall our experience has been great and I would definitely recommend to others looking.

I just wanted to alert you to our family’s experience at Canterfield of Tallahassee. Our mother became a resident in the fall and was there for 4 months. We are a very involved family and family members visited at least 4 times a week. We have been most unhappy with the management, training of the staff, quality and number of activities, and infrastructure problems. Interestingly, when two of us asked questions of corporate management concerning these issues, Mom was given 45 days to leave the facility. We have been attempting since [date removed] to get her medical records and have been unsuccessful with this. We have filed a complaint with AHCA.

Response from Canterfield of Tallahassee
February 4, 2020Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback about the families experience at Canterfield of Tallahassee. We strive hard to ensure the happiness of every resident and family member. In our many conversations with the our resident she never expresses any unhappiness, in fact we got the exact opposite. 45 days notices are always a difficult decision to make, one that we take very seriously. The management and staff members at Canterfield tried hard to put a safe plan in place for our resident, however because a good chain of communication could not be established we were left no other choice but to issues the notice. We are truly sorry we could no longer meet the needs of your mother and wish her the very best in her new community.
