Cambridge Village my sweet home

I live in Cambridge Village Empire East Philippines for almost 7 years. I liked the spaciousness of the place and it's not dangerous for children even if they reach the gabe where they can play. the rent is cheaper compared to my previous condos that I moved to before.

Best in the area

We chose this facility because there as nothing else in this price range that provided the quality that Cambridge Village did. In the region there were a couple other places, but they were the same price and very limited on dining experience, social experience etc. Cambridge Village has a lot to offer, they even have a pool, a real gym for the residents and a true salon. The services are exceptional, I think this facility is in a category of their own. I would absolutely recommend them to others looking. I want to live there myself.

Learning to live contently - wherever you are

I'm happy where I am right now, but I do think the cost is too much for what we're getting. They're adding on a [price removed] one-time fee at your 1 year mark, in addition to you having to give two months rent up front before moving in, and you do not get it back. There are people who have taken the fee to court, but have lost because the manager gets whatever he wants. A lot of people have moved because of it and I think that the extra fee is ridiculous. It makes a terrible position for those of us who are already living tight. The community has their cliques like every place else, but they're friendly and the food is good. Activities and entertainment are good as well and there are a lot of things to do like musical guest, [name removed], who was just here. They also have a harpist who comes in sometimes on Sundays to play, she's very good. As far as my apartment, I do think it's a bit too small for the money we pay. I have a very small kitchen with limited space to prepare meals - which is another complaint I have. I do, however, love the first floor apartment and the fact that I can open my door and step right outside.

Response from Cambridge Village of Wilmington

July 19, 2022

There may be some confusion as to our offering as Cambridge Village provides all cost information up front and in writing prior to a resident joining our community. There have been no new additions to our pricing structure since last year and there are have been no court cases. Our management team takes the time to talk to every resident personally to ensure understanding. We are glad you are finding our community friendly, we always say, “CAMBRIDGE GETS THE BEST RESIDENTS!” It sounds like you are really enjoying our 5 dining options: The Restaurant, The Pub, The Bistro, The Smoothie Bar & The Café, along with the activities, entertainment and musical guests. Please keep in mind that every apartment price is based on location, price and view. Cambridge has a wide range of pricing and unit types. With options ranging from a studio apartment to a two bedroom deluxe option, there is really something for everyone! We encourage residents to choose a unit a the lower range of their budget, but we understand that residents need to choose the location that is most appealing to them. First floor units are a super option and we are glad you were able to get your preferred location! Cambridge Village offers more amenities than any other community such as a movie theatre, game rooms, art room, chapel and lecture hall. Our physiologist led fitness program includes a 15,000 square foot fitness center with a saltwater pool and water aerobics classes. There are studio fitness classes along with cardio fitness, circuit training and functional strength training. And for those who prefer outdoor amenities, our putting green, firepits, outdoor dining and outdoor breezeway and gaming area are sure to please. With our hybrid model of care, price ranges and variety of unit options, we trust you will agree that Cambridge Village continues to present the best value in Wilmington and we are glad you chose Cambridge as your new home!

Excellent Place for Mom

It's nice. It's well kept. It's modern. I think the people are wonderful too. I like how they have little kitchenettes in the apartments, and then you get a credit each month that goes toward the meals in the café (or other services they offer). That way you're not charged for the meals you're not interested in eating. They have lots of amenities on-site, including a pool, exercise room, theater, salon, and spa. I would definitely recommend it here.

Very happy with my choice, I would highly recommend

I chose Cambridge Village because they offered more of what I wanted and was looking for compared to other places. It is very nice, everyone is friendly, and all the accommodations are great. The apartment sizes are good, I have a 1 bedroom and I really like it and it is spacious enough for what I need. I would definitely recommend them to others looking.

Why I live at Cambridge

There comes a time in your life when you just get tried of everything. The yard is too much, the house is too dirty. the body doesn't move like it use too. I have lived at Cambridge for three years and I love it. I can do as much or as little as I want too. I don't worry about storms any more. I come and go as I please. no worry about anything.

A real find!

Mom has lived at Cambridge for a couple of years now, so I feel we know Cambridge living. The staff is exceptional; they are very pleasant and responsive, from the front desk to top management. The facility is spotless clean. Dining is pleasant with choices that change regularly and the chef and staff try to accommodate the residents. There are daily activities to participate in. When mom first moved there they introduced her to a few women, with whom she bonded with. Cambridge is a special place to live in your later years.

Some good, some bad.

Constant turnover of staff over the years has diminished the quality of Cambridge. I’m willing to understand that COVID put a strain on the staff, and I commend them for not having a major outbreak. Unfortunately as with many thing’s , there seems to be confusion among staff as to protocol etc. residents pay a lot of money and the level of service should represent that.

Cambridge-My Home

I have lived here at Cambridge Village OF Wilmington for almost 2 years. When my husband passed away in [date removed] while living in Florida, I decided to move to North Carolina to be near my daughter and her family. We looked at 4 different independent living communities Cambridge came out on top. One-bedroom unit was certainly large enough for my dog and me with a convenient back door opening to the parking lot. Activities such as bingo and po-ke-no are enough to keep me busy. Being a very fussy eater I can still find something good to eat off the menu. There are lots of friendly residents.

Opportunity Missed

It is a good opportunity, provided the right circumstances. However, the pandemic has thrown a wrench into the activities and other parts of the community.

Response from Cambridge Village of Wilmington

April 5, 2021

Hi LH! Thank you so much for your comments. We are so happy to have almost 100% of our resident vaccinated and activities going back to normal at Cambridge. We are still following certain precautions to stay in like with CDC recommendations and to continue to keep our residents, staff and families safe.

My recent visit at Cambridge with Pierrette

I was very impressed with my overall experience at Cambridge. What is included in the monthly rent is amazing. I can get more at Cambridge without a buyin than I can get here in Mechanicsville, VA with a hefty buyin. The number of activities is amazing. One can really keep busy. The facility is beautiful and inviting and very well kept. I look forward to another visit and hopefully in due time make my home there.

Very nice facility, tons of amenities. Costs appear in line until you start breaking everything down and then you find hidden costs that quickly skyrocket if you need any assistance at all. If your 100% healthy then this is the place to be.
